Test I. Determining Sample Size
Population Margin of Error Sample Size
6,000 0.05% 375
300 3% 236
20,000 0.04 606
1,000 2% 714
9,870 1% 4,967
Guide Questions. Answer it a concise manner.
1. What is the margin of error what was the rule of it in identifying the sample size?
 A margin of error tells you how many percentage points your results will differ
from the real population value. It is a statistic expressing the amount of random
sampling error in the results of a survey. The purpose of Margin Error in
calculating sample size is to determine the total amount of number of respondent
based on the random sampling.
2. Give your interpretation to the connection of the population, margin of error and the
sample size.
 Population comprises all of the elements from a set of data. A sample contains one or
more observations drawn from the population. As the sample size increases, the margin
of error decreases.

Schools Population Percentage Sample Size
LSU- OZC 3,000 10.35% 64
MU- OZC 5,000 27.25% 106
MU Extension – Oroq 1,500 8.17% 32
OLT – OZC 700 3.81% 15
MIT- OZC 800 4.36% 17
Stella Marris College- Oroq 650 3.54% 14
GADTC -TC 3,200 17.44% 68
NMSCST – TC 3,500 19.07% 75
TOTAL 18,350 99.99% 391

The table above shows the population of the major schools in the province of Misamis
Occidental collated by the researchers and aims to find out their preferences in choosing
their schools.
What to do:
1. Find the sample size of the population with the given 5% margin of error.
2. Find the sample size of each school based on the numerical figure computed in No.1.

Therefore, from a total number of 18,350 populations from different schools, the total
sample size base on computation using Slovins formula is 391.47. By applying
proportional allocation, we identified that out of 391 sample size of respondents, 64 of
which are from LSU-OZC, 106 coming from MU-OZC, 32 coming from MU-Extension Org.,
15 coming from OLT-OZC, 17 coming from MIT-OZC, 14 from Stella Marris College, 68 are
from GADTC-TC and 75 from NMSCST.
Test II. Sampling Methods
1. Assuming to have a 500 total population, calculate the sample size with a 10% margin of
error.

2. Provide a Population Table and perform systematic sampling procedure for the given
figures. Identify and present the following results in a tabular form (Left to right, top to
bottom).

a Horizontal Results

Population Margin of error Sample size

500 10% 83

2.b Vertical Results

Population 500

Margin of error 10%

Sample size 83
