Scanning

What is scanning?
It is a reading
technique, skill,
you often use
when looking
up a word, e.g.
a date, a name,
or a number in
a text.
Scanning
involves moving
your eyes
quickly down the
page seeking
specific words
and phrases.
Run your finger
down the page to
keep your eyes
focusing on the
search for key
words.
Look for words that are
bold faced, italics, or in a
different font size, style,
or color. Sometimes the
author will put key ideas
in the margin.
