HISTORY

Malagasang II Elementary School is situated in Malagasang II – A, Imus City, Cavite


which is strategically located 9.5 km. away from the Division Office of Imus in Toclong I-C,
ImusCity,Cavite.

When it was first established in 1919 its name was Malagasang Primary School because it
was the only elementary school existing in the entire barrio of Malagasang. It became Malagasang
II Elementary School when Malagasang I Elementary and Malagasang III Elementary School were
created.

The school area of 5002 sq. meters is well – divided to give comfort to every pupil. The
oldest type of building which is Gabaldon was constructed in 1962. It has 7 rooms occupied by the
intermediate pupils. Computer Laboratory was put up and also K Chanel at Gabaldon Building.
There are two types of Gonzales building. One was constructed in 1947 and it was replaced by two
– storey four classrooms building built during the term of – Mayor Homer T. Saquilayan in 2006.
The Marcos Pre – Fab Building was constructed in 1968 and it was occupied by the Grade one
pupils. In this building, the Regional Winner Most Sustainable and Functional Math Learning
Resource Center is also found. The title winning Guidance Center, the Learning Resource Center
and the Principal’s Office are located in the Bagong Lipunan Building. The Outstanding H.E.
Room is located in the other Bagong Lipunan Building constructed in 1979. The school has also
a serviceable clinic, a sanitary canteen to serve pupils’ needs and a stage for cultural and
culminating activities. To promote healthy environment for the pupils, sanitary toilets complete
with water facilities were built within the classrooms and ancillary services.

Among the school heads who responded effectively to the challenges of administering and
managing its school populace and personnel and improving the physical facilities were Mr.
Leocadio Deocadis, Teofista Sañez, Agapito Cerojano, Dr. Trinidad I. Apilado, Ms. Purificacion
Garcia, Mrs. Virginia Camañag, Ms. Zenaida Matro, Ms. Norma Abril, Mrs. Crispina Suarez, Mrs.
Milagros M. Adiarte, Dr. Erlinda Tortona, Mrs. Gloria A. Cerojano, Mrs.Teresita L. Sanchez, Mrs.
Norma R. Sanchez, Mrs. Irene O. Pinpin and Mr. Jesus V. Bergado.

From the SY 2003 – 2004 up to SY 2007 – 2008, there were 25 teaching staff who catered
the thousands population of school. Last SY 2008 – 2009, 5 teachers were added as extension
positions. This SY 2009 – 2010, 38 teachers are serving the school. Another 10 extension positions
were given to Malagasang II Elementary School, in SY 2011 – 2012 and 2 extension teachers were
added for the SY 2012-2013. The school at present has 71 teachers, 19 extensions were given to
Malagasang II Elementary School this SY 2013-2014. It is noted that there was an increase of
enrolment every year. During the school year 1999 – 2000, the school population was only 676.
This went up to more than 1000 in SY 2001 – 2002 which was 1160; 1223 in SY 2003 – 2004;
1340 in SY 2004 – 2005; 1373 in SY 2006 – 2007; 1458 in SY 2007 – 2008; 1720 in SY 2008 –
2009 until it reached 2160 last SY 2009 – 2010. In school year 2010 – 2011 the enrolment
was 2619. In SY 2011 – 2012 the school has 2774 pupils. In school year 2012-2013 it reached
2905. Last school year 2013-2014, the enrolment is 2950 in the elementary and 368
Kindergarten. This school year the enrolment reached 3860 including kindergarten.

The school produced well – known persons in the different field of discipline. Dr. Relito
Saquilayan, EENT ophthalmologist, is now the Director of Rizal Medical Center in Pasig. In the
field of Politics, Dominador Ilano became a mayor of the Municipality of Imus and Arnel
Cantimbuhan is presently the Municipal Councilor of Imus. Other successful alumni of
Malagasang II Elementary School were Crisanto S. Cerojano. He was a retired Director II of NSO,
National Capitol Region. Mr. Isaac A. Ilano is now a Professor in the College of Medicine and
Chairman of Student Discipline and Security of La Salle University, Dasmariñas.

Several alumni excel in the field of business. They are Amado Medina, owner of Medina’s
Bakery, Barangay Capt. Sarno, the proprietor of Long Beach Motor Works, Guillermo Tapawan,
owner and proprietor of Pilemal Motor Works, Pedro Hayag, owner of Hayag Motor Works,
Wilfredo dela Cruz, owner of Alps Water Station, holds higher position in a travel agency and the
Anabu Dry and Wet Market belongs to the family of Eva Guemo.

Even though Malagasang II is a non – central school, it is consistent in academic and non
– academic performance. The school ranked first among the eleven schools in the District of Imus
II in the NAT 2006. The school bagged the first place award in the Provincial Oratorical Contest
2007 held at Provincial Capitol and again ranked first in NAT 2008 for Grade VI.
Working in an atmosphere of love and cooperation, the school continuously score and
mark achievements academically and physically. Malagasang II Elementary School was adjudged
as the Outstanding Regional Search for Most Sustainable and Functional Math, LRC, when it
comes to sports, the school’s gymnasts got the first place in the North Cavite Sports Unit
Competition 2009 and second place in the Provincial Meet 2009 held at Cavite State University,
Indang, Cavite. The school has won second place during the 2012 North Cluster 5s ICT Program
Evaluation, third place winner in record management and second place winner Over-all Category
during the 2012 Division 5s ICT Program Evaluation held last December 10-14, 2012.
There are teachers who are given awards and recognitions because of their extraordinary
skills in Mathematics and Journalism. Mr. Ronald T. Sia 2011 Math Achiever (Teacher’s
Category), first place in Anchor, first in Infomercial, third in Script Writing and Over-all
Champion in Broadcasting. Mrs. Stephanie C. Asidella, got the fourth place in Feature Writing
(English Category) and Over-all Champion in Broadcasting in the North Unit Seminar – Workshop
in Campus Journalism 2011 held at Noveleta Elementary School.

In school year 2012 – 2013 Mikhail Motos. a Grade VI pupil won Third place in the 2012
Regional Schools Press Conference - Radio Broadcasting and Script Writing Categories.

In School Year 2013-2014, Malagasang II Elementary School tagged as Home of the


Champions by the teachers and parents when this institution won the over-all 2013 District III
Meet, garnered top awards in the Division Schools Press Conference and various wins in academic
contests.

In School Year 2015-2016, Malagasang II Elementary School won 2nd place over champion
2016 Cluster Meet.
In school year 2016-2017, Malagasang II Elementary School participated in Nestle
Wellness Campus Competition and landed on 8th place in Best Wellness Practice National
Competition—Elementary Category in 2017 NESTLE WELLNESS CAMPUS.
In school year 2017-2018, Malagasang II Elementary School won the Division Chamber
Theater Contest October 10, 2017.
Won as BEST PERFORMING SCHOOL-ELEMENTARY, Mrs. Cristina M. Ben, our
principal, received an award as Natatanging Gurong Mananaliksik sa Elementarya and
Tagapagtaguyod ng Pinakamahusay na Programa sa Pagbasa last December 19, 2017. The school
also awarded as the Cluster Over- all CHAMPION—Division and Provincial Meet. The school
also won 5th place for Regional Brigada Eskwela Jingle. Under the leadership of our principal Dr.
Cristina M. Ben,the school also provided an ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM (ALS) last
July 26, 2017.

In School Year 2018-2019, Malagasang II Elementary School won 2018 Nestle Wellness
Campus - Best Emplementing School—Division Champion, Regional Champion and 1st Runner -
Up in National Level. Sarah Elizabeth Marfil, a Grade Six student, won a Gold Medal in TEAM
RELAY COMPETITION and a Bronze Medal in Individual Competition in 2018 CHINA
PRIMARY MATH OLYMPIAD held at Zheijiang Province, China last July 27-August 01, 2018,
coached by Mrs. Christine T. Brigoli and Ms. Genalyn V. Borlat. A Grade VI student Davin C.
Dela Cruz won a GOLD MEDAL in BASKETBALL ELEMENTARY LEVEL in PALARONG
PAMBANSA 2019 AT Davao City. The school also held the Centennial Celebration last January
12, 2019.
In school year 2019-2020, (at present), the school got the award last January 25, 2019 in
Gawad Imuseño (Parangal) for Exemplary Performance as Outstanding Researcher, Oustanding
School GAD Program Implementer, Outstanding School DRRM Implementer and Most Effective
Reading Program Implementer. And for Individual Category as Outstanding School
Head/Principal, Cristina M. Ben Ph. D.
