Star Gas Srl is an Italian
company specialized in
design and production of
autogas conversion
systems.
The company was
established by Mr. Luigi
Pisa in 1980, after his more
than 20 years’ experience
of active working in
autogas applications.
StarGas is today leader in a
group of Companies
operating in LPG
distribution, including
service station hardware
supply, all over Italy, Europe and elsewhere, through Associated Companies. This position gives
to StarGas a wide knowledge of the matter.

StarGas first produced item, internally designed, was the cylindrical LPG tank. Later, in 1989, a
LPG pressure reducer/vaporizer was designed and became soon one of the most appreciated,
for reliability and performances,
on the market. Still in 1989,
Stargas began producing many
other items of the whole LPG
conversion kit, in order to gain
knowledge and control over the
gas kit system.

In 1990 StarGas began to make

and distribute electronic
components, aiming to be in line
with the fast growing
implementation of electronic
controls in engine management,
mainly related to anti-pollution
regulations coming forward.

Today StarGas range of products, supported by a very effective software package and an
efficient technical after sales organization, is suitable for all petrol powered vehicles.

Stargas has created its own production lines in order to achieve and maintain the most
advanced quality standards.
To ensure such an high production quality, Stargas takes advantage of the latest technologies
available in-line, plus the control of final products quality standards, achieved through a
number of dedicated laboratories, whose responsibility is to certify both incoming materials,
Suppliers production and final
outgoing products.

A testing and development

workshop with all the appropriate
equipment, has been created, with
large investments, within the
company premises, in order to keep
research going at all times for
production improvements but,
above all, researching new solutions
for the future.

A very good cooperation with a

number of Homologation Institutes
both in Italy and elsewhere helps the
Company in keeping up with all the news and regulations relevant to the LPG world.

The innovative research efforts have put Stargas in high consideration in the local national
market but also in more than thirty
foreign Countries, not European
only, where the Company exports
with success and constant sales
growth.

It is important to underline also

that, in 2001, Stargas was the first
Company in the world producing
and marketing a LPG gaseous
sequential phased injection kit
named “Polaris”: a milestone in the
field of modern LPG conversion kits.

Polaris injection system introduced

great innovative changes,
comparing to the previous technologies: improved performances, better fuel economy and large
reduction in pollution output as well.

With Polaris technology, it became possible to install autogas systems on newest cars, keeping
performances and fuel consumption very close to the original petrol conditions, in fact,
following Stargas tracks, most of autogas kit manufacturers, have converted their productions to
similar technologies.

LPG pressure reducer for sequential systems (without sensors)

Hercules single-stage vaporizer comes with a large surface of heat exchange that allows the
complete gasification process to take place even in more demanding situations (low room
temperature, large amount of fuel for long trips).

For correct working

of the system, the
difference in
pressure between
the engine’s
vaporizer outlet and
the intake manifold
must be kept
constant. This is so
that the absolute
pressure in the
intake manifold
(called MAP which is
short for Manifold
Absolute Pressure)
increases with the
increase of the
engine load.
Therefore, if the
pressure exiting from
the vaporizer
remains constant,
then the pressure
difference is reduced
and subsequently the
gas flow supplied. This occurs via a “compensation” circuit which connects the chamber
containing the contrast spring with the engine’s intake manifold via a small rubber tube. The
connection between the rubber tube and the intake manifold is created with a special brass
union.

 ELECTRONIC SEQUENTIAL SETS “PERSEUS”

The newest ECU PERSEUS have been developed as an evolution of our first ECU ELIOS produced
since the year 2001, improving its functions and calibration mapping, in addition to more
sophisticated operation strategies.
The gas injection timing is calculated by the gas ECU and is derived from the corresponding
petrol injection times generated by the original ECU of the car. Thus, the gas ECU, imitating the
petrol ECU, realizes the master / slave operation of the LPG/CNG system.
The control units “Perseus” can be used to transform up to 8 cylinders engines and are available
in three versions:

PERSEUS 4 (up to 4 cylinders)

This is the basic version, with 24 pin, very compact

and reliable, simple to install, which nevertheless
allows an extremely accurate tuning of the engine
carburetion and is indicated for the majority of the
cars.

It allows the following functions:

 One wire to be used (on choice) for:
Connection to the signal of the oxygen
sensor.
or
RPM signal reading
or
Gas temperature detection (sensor not
supplied), in addition to the water
temperature measured by the sensor
supplied in the kit.

 New automatic calibration procedure

characterized by new and accurate
algorithm.
 New procedure for adaptivity as a function
of engine load.
 New Map Injection Time / Number
of motor revolutions (TJ / RPM).
PERSEUS 32 (up to 4 cylinders)
It’s a more advanced version of ECU, 32 pin,
with following characteristics:

 Connection to the signal of the oxygen

sensor.
 RPM signal reading
 New automatic calibration procedure
characterized by new and accurate
algorithm.
 New procedure for adaptivity as a
function of engine load.
 New Map Injection Time / Number
of motor revolutions (TJ / RPM).
 Possibility of connection to a gas
temperature sensor (optional) in
addition to the water temperature
sensor installed on the pressure
reducer.
 Compatible with 1,2 ohm injectors (like
“Hana” high flow capacity, for
example).

PERSEUS 48 OBD
(up to 8 cylinders)
 In addition to all
operations available with
the ECU PERSEUS 32, it can
be connected to the
vehicle’s OBD system for a
more accurate tuning of the
carburetion, even using the
adaptivity function that
adjusts the engine feeding
parameters according to its
aging. Possibility to clear
the recorded errors.
CONVERSION KIT FOR DIRECT INJECTION ENGINE

"Taurus Direct" is the latest technological

evolution of GAS conversion kits developed by
Stargas.

"Taurus Direct" can be installed on vehicles

with petrol engines, direct injection multipoint
type (FSI, TFSI, GDI, etc.).

It is an evolution of the system PERSEUS, then

still a sequential gaseous injection system.

The conversion kit is characterized by:

 A new Electronic Control Unit with a

very sophisticated operations logic.
 High performance gas injectors.
 Connectivity OBDII protocols K and
CAN.
 Complete diagnostics of the gas system.

The system is approved for conversion of vehicles up to EURO 6.
