The outbreak of pandemic Corona virus has shackled the roots world economy. During the
lockdown online shopping has become the life line to many families. With increasing demand
for basic commodities like sanitizers, face masks and some essential commodities e-
commerce giants like Amazon has to modify their supply chain to serve this emergency
situation.
1. Impact on Prep centers
50% of all products from Amazon come from third party sellers. Prep centers work with third
party sellers to get packages ready to be shipped to amazons ware house. The Shipment
which customer orders will be shipped from supplier to prep centers. These prep centers
adheres the product as per the standards set by Amazon with respect to packing, sealing and
labeling and further transports to Amazon ware houses. The final product is shipped from
Amazon ware house to the deliver address

Prep centers served as backbone for Amazon’s delivery. Due to outbreak of pandemic Corona
virus Amazon has prioritized its shipments to mainly house cleaning items and health care
products. It had partially suspended all the services from the prep centers till April 5 th 2020. It
had disabled the creation of new inbound shipments for Prep centers as well as retail
centers .The move was mainly to reduce the cost, fasten the delivery and reduce the burden
on the supply chain.
