needs, our team are dedicated to bringing you

closely with children, carers, families,
therapists and funding bodies, and taking the

flexible equipment provision

APPROVE is an equipment provision scheme that addresses the
needs of children, families, therapists, professionals and funders
in an easy, efficient and flexible way.

Assessment
Once an order is received, Jiraffe will contact the
therapist named on the order and arrange an
assessment visit with suitable equipment.
Review
If a child’s needs change for whatever reason
during the contract, a therapist can simply
re-assess that child for any new equipment or
accessories at no extra cost. The new
equipment will be left with the child ready for
use immediately!

Provision
Following the therapist’s prescription on
the day, provision is immediate; the agreed
equipment is left with the child already set up
and ready to use.
OK?
Each year, products will undergo a full inspection
by a member of the Jiraffe service team. A full
written report is then provided to the therapist,
who will need to be there to ensure the equipment
is set up correctly for the child.

Always helping
Jiraffe offers training days throughout the year at the Head Office in Sheffield.
These one-day sessions are both free and informative.

Each Jiraffe Training Day will focus on a range of products, their use and benefits and provide background information
on maintenance and general care. There will also be a short session dedicated to understanding the basics of human
development and the childhood conditions that may lead to a child needing postural support equipment.

Course materials are provided and a Certificate of Attendance will be issued.

Sleeping, Standing & Mobility Seating & Toileting

This training will allow you to gain confidence in identifying features
and benefits in sleeping, standing and mobility products available
from Jiraffe. The course will cover the advantages of sleeping
systems demonstrated by the Jenx DreamaTM and the complete
range of standing and mobility equipment, which includes both
RIfton and Jenx products. The features and benefits of these
products will be outlined along with providing you with the chance
to work through the assessment process.
This training will allow you to acquire an
understanding of the features and benefits from
the range of bathroom and seating products
available from Jiraffe, including products from
both Jenx and Rifton, along with the opportunity
to work through the assessment process.

Introducing Oscar
This lovely, smiley little boy is Oscar. Oscar has Cerebral Palsy and uses both
a Jenx Junior and a Dreama. Oscar’s Mum, Julie, told us…
Oscar has had his current sleep system for a while now, and we are seeing a big
difference in how he sleeps as a result of having it. Before we got it he was in bed
overnight with his hips moving and pulling and we had no way of stretching his
lower leg. He would take hours to settle to sleep and often wake during the night,
which was exhausting for all of us. We would have to give him a stretch and move
his position several times each night.

The Dreama sleep system gives Oscar a really good sleeping position overnight,
which means he gets a better night’s rest and it removes some of our anxiety
around ensuring that Oscar maintains the best possible position, but remains
comfortable, which means we also get a better night’s rest!

Jenx was founded by a paediatric
physiotherapist and a product designer in 1982,
with the aim of enriching lives and changing
perceptions about disability. For over 30 years
Jenx has been researching, designing and
making pioneering developmental equipment
that supports children as they grow.
Every Jenx product is the outcome of a thorough
design process, which draws on input from
therapists, carers, their own experts and wider
research developments in the field. New
products are put through a rigorous set of tests
and verification procedures both in the factory
and in the field to ensure it has the exceptional
quality Jenx is known for.
All Jenx products are manufactured in Sheffield,
England, to exacting safety standards. The Post
Sales Vigilance Process that Jenx use, enables
them to analyse the performance of a product
and feed that information back into the design

Rifton began in 1977 as an offshoot of
Community Playthings, a leading manufacturer
of furniture and equipment for early childhood
settings. When one of their designers paid a
neighbourly visit to a Connecticut home for
children with disabilities, a therapist asked if they
could custom-build a chair for one of their
residents.

Standing
Standing is one of the most complicated
things that humans do: controlling lots of
joints and body parts with gravity working
hard to pull you down to the floor. If you
have weak muscles or lack strength to
stand on your own then there are many
products to help you.
Standing is many different positions and
you might want to stand prone (tilted
forward), upright or supine (supported
behind) and although each position offers
you something special, they all offer greater
weight bearing through your legs which
helps to strengthen your bones. Standing
also allows you to look people in the eye
and really find out what they are thinking.
Standing is important for physical and
social skill learning.
Mobility
Whether its making your way to lunch or
keeping up with your brother or sister at
home, the Jiraffe range of mobility products

Scientists still don’t know why we sleep
but we all do. While we sleep our bodies
relax and replenish and our brains process
the events of the day. A good position for
sleep is important for comfort and helps
give you longer periods of rest. Better

that you wake refreshed and ready for the
day ahead.
Bathroom
Everyone ends up in the bathroom at
some point in the day so let’s make the
experience positive and productive. The
