9. Mode of Operation

9.1. Preparation

1) Wear a lead apron for x-ray exposures.

2) Leave at least 2 meters away from the unit or use extended hand switch cable in order to keep
safe distance.
3) Apply proper beam size and technical values to produce the best radiographic results while
minimizing exposure dose.
4) Be careful about the decimal point on the mAs display in order to acquire intended mAs values.
5) For the indoor radiography for the patient in the bed, ask visitors to leave the room for a while
and keep safe distance from the patient.
6) Pay attention to proper management of the equipment and careful maintenance.
7) Cumulative radiation dose should not exceed the recommended amount. Ask the guide and
advice of experts for the requirement of additional protective devices at frequent use of high kV
and mAs.

WARNING
Please check if the voltage and current of the power supply observe the
specifications written on the system labels, attached to backside of machine
body. The levels of voltage should move within ±10% of the standard values.

CAUTION
Please check up all the line connections before the operation and x-ray
exposures of machine.

9.2. Collimator Check-up

A. Place the loaded cassette on the patient’s backside.

B. Arrange the SID (Focal Spot to Image Receptor Distance) using a scale located on the side of the
collimator.
C. Turn on the collimator lamp by pushing collimator on switch.
D. Adjust the size of the x-ray beam in accordance with the film size using the x-ray field adjustment
knobs. Turn off the collimator and after 30 seconds on the timer.

current and to secure long and safe operation of the system. Preheat of x-ray tube is required under
following situation.
A. Initial use or installation.
B. Non-use of the equipment over 1 month at low temperature
C. Temperature of x-ray tube is below 0℃ (32℉). (Cold tube)

2) Method to Preheat

Following preheat procedure is recommended.

A. Install the equipment at a safe place for radiation.
B. In case outdoor temperature is below 0℃ (32℉), move the equipment indoor and warm it up.
C. In order to preheat filament of x-ray tube, exposure x-rays in 15 second time intervals.
First: 3 exposures at 50 kV @ 0.2 mAs
Second: 3 exposures at 80 kV @ 5.0 mAs
Third: 3 exposures at 110 kV @ 5.0 mAs

4. Calibration Procedures

▣ Preparation
Following instrument and tools are required.
A. Tools: Philips screwdriver No.1 & 2, Straight slot screwdriver
B. Testers: DVM, Digital Oscilloscope (Tektronics TDS 3032 or equivalent device)

1) Power Supply
-The power switch should be at off condition.
-Connect power cables to power consent.
-Power on the switch.

2) Calibration method is composed of three procedures.

-Setting and adjusting tube kV.
-Setting and adjusting tube mA
-Adjusting filament preheat.

A. Setting and adjusting tube kV

-Turn off the power switch.
-PCB HT board is located under control panel.
-All DIP switches on PCB HT board are at off conditions. (Note: DIP switch is located in this place
normally.)
-Chanel 1: connect the probe of oscilloscope to TP111 (IP F/B) and GND (TP116~120).
-Chanel 2: connect the probe of oscilloscope to TP110 (EP F/B) and GND (TP116~120).

Chanel 1: mA, 1V = 10mA

Chanel 2: kV, 1V = 25kV
Initial display of OP console is as follows.

35 - 35 -
Product Manual: PXP-100CA POSKOM Co., Ltd.

-Set the conditions as 40kV and 0.1mAs (20mA) and observe mA waveforms at Channel 1 of
Oscilloscope.
-If the value at channel 1 is not 2V (20mA), adjust the mA output with VR101 of HT board. And observe if
the waveform of Channel 2 is 40kV (1.625V).

-Set the conditions as 100kV and 0.2mAs (40mA) and observe mA waveforms at Channel 1 of
Oscilloscope.
-If the value at channel 1 is not 4 V (40mA), adjust the mA output with VR101 of HT board. And observe if
the waveform of Channel 2 is 100kV (4V).

※ CAUTION ※
As the kV value of channel 2 is automatically adjusted by standard parameters,
Additional calibration is not required.

B. Setting and adjusting tube mA

-Turn off the power switch.
-PCB HT board is located under control panel.
-All DIP switches on PCB HT board are at off conditions. (Note: DIP switch is located in this place
normally.
