Rookie Track Star Overcomes

Adversity To Win Race

Ghost Wins It All!

Young rookie Castle Cranshaw, or as he likes to be called Ghost, has successfully
competed and took home a medal at his very first track meet. Cranshaw is a young
man from Glass Manor who has a passion for running. He flies by his competition and
makes it look easy. However, Ghost has had to work hard to become this successful.
During a short interview with Castle’s aunt Sophie she explains how life has not been
easy for her nephew. “He’s a good boy and I’m so proud to be his aunt. This kid has
had a hard life thrown at him and he still gets out to do this. [He’s] going to do great
things. Our Castle has a real shot at a bright future if he sticks with track.”

The Defender’s Coach Brody, an Olympic Track Champion, quickly spoke to us after
the meet. “Ghost is a strong runner and one I see having plenty of opportunities. As
long as he sticks with it and stays out of trouble he might be looking at a college
scholarship.”

We caught up with Ghost after the race and he kindly answered a few questions. When
asked if he felt a part of the team he said, “yeah they are my family.” Ghost told us how
even though at first he felt like he did not belong because, “Sunny or someone else
like that with money should have the [spot].” However, after a little more discussion
Cranshaw explained that even though he does not live in the same area as kids like
Sunny that does not take away from what he is able to do. His mom and aunt are very
supportive of his track endeavours, and people in his community, like a man named
Mr. Charles and Coach are family to Castle. They are there no matter what and Ghost
does not feel he could have run this race without them.

All-in-all a great start from Cranshaw! Hopefully his winning streak will help the
Defenders make it to the State Championship.
