ADMISSION IN THE LLM PROGRAMS

SEPTEMBER 2013 SESSION

INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION LLM PROGRAM (in English language)

All LLM programs organized by the Faculty of Law of the Bucharest University are full time
programs of two semesters (October 1st, 2013 – June 30th, 2014).

The International Arbitration LLM program is addressed mainly to practitioners and to those who are
seeking for a specialization in this area of law and therefore the classes shall be usually held after
16:00. The classes will comprise of 60 transferrable credits.

The candidates must have had acquired 240 credits (long term license programs of 4 years) or 180
credits (short term license programs of 3 years) + masters of 120 credits (studies of 2 years).

The LLM Program is limited to 50 students. Full state tuition is provided for the first ranked 20
Romanian or EU nationals master students admitted to the program. 24 out of the remaining 30
places are allocated for Romanian or EU Nationals (the tuition is of 3500 lei/year) and 6 places are
allocated for non-EU nationals (the tuition if of 220 Euro/moth, during the 9 months of the program).
If there shall not be successful applications for the 6 places allocated for non-EU nationals, the places
shall be transferred to the Romanian and EU nationals, upon their ranking.

REGISTRATIONS: 3 - 9 September 2013 at the Secretariat of the Faculty of Law


During working days between 9:00-14:00
Saturday-Sunday between 9:00-12:00

ADMISSION EXAMS (for Romanian and EU nationals):

• Exam subjects: - English Language Proficiency Test (oral, eliminatory);


- Multiple Choice Test ( in English) on the following
topics:
- UNCITRAL Model Law on international commercial
arbitration
- ICC Arbitration Rules
• The tests shall be held as follows:
12 September 2013, 8:00 AM – English Language Proficiency Test (oral,
eliminatory);
13 September 2013, 8:00 AM - Multiple Choice Test
• Students must register for the test at 7:00;
• Duration: 2 hours;
• Multiple choice test comprising of 50 questions, one correct out of three possible
answers. Each correct answer is noted with 2 points, the maximum total being of 100
points.
• In case of even number of points for more candidates ranked on the last available
place, the ranking of these candidates will be made based on the general average of
their grades in high school.
ADMISSION (for non-EU nationals)
• Selection will be made based on the assessment of the profile of the candidate, as
resulting out of the documents required for registrations and the recommendations
presented by the candidates

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS REQUIRED (for Romanian and EU-nationals):

1. Registration form (provided on site);


2. Baccalaureate diploma in original and an authenticated copy;
3. B.A. diploma in original and an authenticated copy or a certificate of the license exam for
students who graduated in 2013, in original and an authenticated copy;
4. the list of the results of the years of study completed (Academic Transcript) in original or
a certificate presenting the average of the grades of the student’s grades and the number
of credits for each year of the university studies, the general average of graduation and the
total number of credits at graduation, in original;
5. birth certificate in authenticated copy as well as any other document attesting changes of
the name or surname, in authenticated copy;
6. medical certificate mentioning “fit for studies with the Faculty of Law”
7. photocopy of the identity card;
8. four color photos type identity card;
9. payment receipt of the registration fee of 320 lei of in the account of the Bucharest
Faculty of Law – RO42RNCB0076010452620037/ B.C.R., sector 5.

The non-Eu nationals must follow the preliminary admission with the Romanian
Ministry of Education http://www.edu.ro/index.php/articles/c371/

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• A candidate may be accepted on a state-paid tuition place only for one master’s program;
In maximum 5 working days upon the communication of the results of the admission tests,
candidates accepted for the state-paid tuition places must to present the baccalaureate
diploma, in original and authenticated copy. Failure to comply with the obligation to present
the baccalaureate diploma in original by the exclusive fault of the candidate, leads to the
cancellation of the allocation of such candidate for a state-paid tuition place.

• The tuition is of 3500 lei for Romanian and EU-nationals and of 220 EUR/month during 9
months for the non-EU nationals;
In maximum 5 working days upon the communication of the results of the admission tests,
candidates who were admitted for the tuition-based places and who declare that they wish to
register for such type of places, are bound
i. to present the baccalaureate diploma, in authenticated copy;
ii. to pay half of the tuition (respectively, 1750 lei) in the bank account of the
Faculty of Law, RO42RNCB0076010452620037/ BCR, sector 5 and to
provide the secretariat of the Faculty of Law with a copy of the payment
order. Any bank fees shall incur to the candidates, the tuition being received in
full by the Faculty of Law.

• Details concerning the registration fee for the admission :


i. The registration fees for the admission that have not been used may be
reimbursed, upon request, on the basis of the confirmation of the management
of the Faculty of Law and of the chief-accountant, with the approval of the
management of the Bucharest University, except for the case where the
admission test is not organized for lack of candidates;
ii. The orphans of both parents, the candidates who are in the care of foster
parents or foster homes, the children of teachers and the children of the
employees of the Bucharest University are exempted of the registration fee for
the admission. Such exemption is provided only once in the same university.

• The minimum number of points obtained at the test has to be 70 (seventy) or more.
• The candidates who withdraw their documents before the communication of the final results
of the admission exam are excluded from the admission.
• The final results of the exam (after the lapse of the challenge period) shall be communicated
exclusively by publicizing on the Faculty of Law display areas.
• The decision of the challenge committee is final.
• Challenges to the decisions rendered on the challenge are not possible, no matter whom such
challenges would be addressed.
• Candidates registering for the admission tests should be aware that they have the duty to
verify the test room to which they have been allocated with 24 hours in advance.
• Candidates should be aware that, in case of false or inaccurate declarations, they will be
subject to administrative or criminal charges.
PRESENCE AT THE LECTURES AND SEMINARS OF THE LLM STUDENTS IS MANDATORY.
