4.6 Power interfaces N/A Pass Fail Date:

Test Requirement:
The rated input current of the equipment shall not exceed by more than 10% under normal load given to the equipment.

Method:
1. If the equipment has more than one rated voltage then measured input current at each rated voltage.
2. if the equipment has more than one or more rated voltage ranges then measured input current at each end of each rated
voltage ranges.
3. if the single rated current is marked on the marking plate then it compared with the higher value of input current measured
at associated rated voltages.
4. if two rated currents are marked on the marking plate separated by hyphen then it compared with the two values of input
current measured at associated rated voltages.
5. if the equipment is intended for direct connection to an ac mains supply then take tolerances
 +6% and -10% on rated voltage above 230v.
 +10% and -10% on rated voltage 230v single phase or 400v three-phase.
6. if the equipment is intended connection to a dc mains supply then take tolerance
 +20% and -15% on rated voltage
7. if the equipment is not intended to connect to mains supply directly then the rated voltage of the equipment is considered
for test.
Note:
a) Recharging mode-Applicable to the primary power received by the UPS while also charging the battery.
b) Stored energy mode- Applicable to DC current from, for example, a remote battery while simulating primary power outside.
c) Bypass mode
d) Normal mode- with a fully charged battery, the UPS should receive power from the primary power source.
While supplying rated output under each of the conditions described in a) to d), the relevant AC or DC steady state input current should
not exceed 110% of the rated current.

Safety and Precaution:

1. Avoid contact with energized electronics circuits.
2. Disconnect the power source before servicing or preparing electrical connection.

4.7.20 to 5.1.3 Energy hazards N/A Pass Fail Date:

Test Requirement:
No risk of injury due to an energy hazard in an operator access area.
Method:
1. Select two or more bare parts (one which may be earthed) between which a hazardous energy level exist, that will be bridged by a metallic
object.
2. Check of Likelihood of hazards parts under consideration is determined by means of the test finger 2A in straight position. It should not
possible to bridge the part with the test finger without appreciable force for the compliance to the test.
3. Operate the equipment in normal operating conditions, connect variable resistive load connected to the part under consideration and adjust
the level of 240VA by adjusting variable load. If it is necessary to maintain 240VA for 60s for that adjust the variable resistive load. If
240VA energy is maintained for 60s it will be considered as hazardous energy level. (Refer note 1)
4. Measure voltage across the capacitor and calculate stored energy (Refer note 2) and check whether calculated energy exceeds 20J then that
energy is treated as hazardous.

1. If the measured voltage is 2V or more it will consider as hazardous energy level unless an overcurrent protective devices opens during
operation or any other reason due to which 240VA power will not be maintain for 60s.
2. The store energy in the capacitor is at hazardous energy level if voltage is 2V or more. Store energy E is calculated by using following
formula.
E=0.5 CU2 X 10-6
Where,
U = voltage across capacitor in volts (V),
C = capacitance in microfarad ( F)
E = Energy Measured in joules (J).

applicable.
2. If the capacitance is less than or equal to 0.1µF, record test as not applicable in observation sheet.
3. Operate equipment to its maximum rated input range. After capturing proper waveform measure the time constant (Refer to note 1) of
capacitor with the help of waveform.
Note:
1. During an interval equal to one time constant, the voltage will have decayed to 37% of its original value.

Method:
1. Identify the different insulation point that needs to be considered while measuring working voltage.
2. Measure working voltages at that point and note down peak and R.M.S voltage across the points.

Note: Determining working voltages following requirement taking in account.

1. Unearth accessible conductive parts shall be assumed to be earthed
2. If the transformer winding to other part is floating (it is not connected to a circuit that establishes its potential relative to earth), it shall be
assumed to be earthed at the point by which the highest working voltage is obtained.
3. For insulation between two transformer windings, the highest voltage between any two points in two winding shall be used, taking in
account external voltages to which winding will be connected.
4. For insulation between transformer winding and another part, the highest voltage between two points shall be used.
5. Where double insulation is used, the working voltages across the basic insulation shall be determined by imagining a short circuit across the
supplementary insulation and vice a versa.
6. Working voltage is determined by the measurement at the rated voltage or voltage within the rated range that determines the highest
measured value.
7. Working voltage between any point in primary circuit and earth, and between any points in primary and secondary is assumed to be greater
of the following: rated voltage or the voltage of rated voltage range and measured voltage.
8. When determining working voltage for TNV circuit connected to a telecommunication network, the normal operating voltages shall be
taken into account, if they are not known then assumed to be 60Vd.c for TNV 1 and 120V.d.c for TNV 2 and TNV 3.

8.3 Fault Condition Tests N/A Pass Fail Date:

Test Requirement:
After test EUT does comply with criteria of Abnormal Condition and Fault Conditions specified in the standard.

Method:
1. When we are doing single fault , the single fault consist of single failure of any insulation(excluding double insulation or reinforced
insulation ).
2. Single fault consists of Short circuit of elements, motor stalling, transformer fault, ventilation blockage.

Note:
1. Where it is required to apply simulated faults or abnormal operating conditions, these shall be applied in turn and one at a time.
2. When applying simulated fault or abnormal fault , abnormal operating conditions, parts, supplies consumable materials , media and
recording material shall be in place if they are likely to have an effect on the outcome of the rest.
3. For the components and circuits other than those covered by IS 13252, compliance is checked by simulating the following conditions,
 Faults in any components in primary circuits.
 Faults in any components where failure could adversely affect supplementary insulation or reinforced insulation.
 For the equipment that does not comply with the requirements of 4.7.1/RD and 4.7.2/RD, faults in all components.
 faults arising from connection of the most unfavorable load impedance to terminals and connectors that deliver power or signal
outputs from the equipment, other than main power outlets.
4. A ups having ventilation shall be operated in the normal mode with the rotor of a blower motor or fan locked and if the UPS having more
than one blower motor or fan, lock one at a time.
5. The test are applied one at a time with the equipment operating at rated voltage or at the upper limit of the rated voltage range.
6. Temperature in the transformer supplying the component under the test shall not exceed those specified in Annex C/RD.

Safety and Precaution:

1. Avoid contact with energized electrical circuits.
2. Hold anti fire system in your lab
3. Please stay away when testing is running condition
