SECTION-III

DETAILED SPECIFICATIONS AND SCOPE OF WORK

E&M WORKS
In general all applicable IS codes and CPWD Specifications and specifications provided in
this section wherever applicable shall be followed for E&M works.

ELECTRICAL WORK:
INTERNAL ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION (IEI)

1. General Specifications.
1.0 The electrical wiring installations shall be carried out in conformity with the requirements of the
Indian Electricity Rules, 1956 as amended up to date and to the relevant regulations of the electric
supply authority concerned, and IS: 732 Indian Standards Code of Practice for Electrical wiring
installations.

1.1 (a) All the equipment, fittings and accessories, materials selected for the wiring installations shall
conform to the relevant Indian Standards wherever these exist. These will be of makes as
specified in the tender or as approved by the NBCC/Client.

(b) The work under this contract shall be carried out in accordance with schedule ‘A’, General
Specifications, the particular specifications, drawings and other provisions in CPWD Schedule
and specifications.

(c) The term ‘General Specifications’ referred to in above, as well as referred to in CPWD2013
General Conditions of Contracts shall mean the specifications contained in the CPWD
schedule/specification.

(d) General Rules, specifications, Special Conditions and all preambles in the schedule and CPWD-
DSR & Specifications shall be deemed to apply to the work under this contract. In case of any
discrepancy, the provisions in this tender document shall take precedence over the aforesaid
provision in the CPWD schedule/DSR.

(e) The contractor shall produce samples of all materials and shall obtain approval in writing from
NBCC/Client before he places bulk order for the materials for incorporation in the work. In
respect of materials for which samples are not kept or detailed specifications are not given here-
in-after, the materials shall comply with latest relevant Indian Standard Specifications whether
listed in Schedule/DSR and under these specifications or not. Materials having ISI Mark shall be
given preference over those not having ISI Mark.

(f) DSR items shall be executed as per CPWD specification (latest version).

1.2 The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining the NOC from Electrical Safety Inspector of the
State.

1.3 The internal wiring shall be done by "A" class Electrical, Contractor approved by the State /

CPWD, having completed similar type of work.

2.0 WIRING

2.1 GENERAL
Technical specifications in this section cover item of wiring installations comprising of :
Point wiring including circuit wiring for light, fan and call bell points as also lighting and power
convenience socket outlet points in concealed/surface conduit. Sub main wiring in
concealed/surface conduit.

2.2 STANDARDS AND CODES


All equipments, components, materials and entire work shall be carried out in conformity with
applicable and relevant Bureau of Indian Standards and Codes of Practice, as amended upto date
and as below. In addition, relevant clauses of the Indian Electricity Act 1910 and Indian
Electricity Rules 1956 as amended upto date shall also apply. Wherever appropriate Indian
Standards are not available, relevant British and /or IEC Standards shall be applicable.
Equipments certified by Bureau of Indian Standards shall be used in this contract in line with
government regulations. Test certificates in support of this certification shall be submitted, as
required. It is to be noted that updated and current standards shall be applicable irrespective of
dates mentioned along with ISS’s in the tender documents.

3.0 CONDUITING:

3.1 PVC Conduits:

Conduits shall be rigid PVC of minimum thickness of 2mm thick. Conduits shall be ISI
marked confirming to IS : 9537 (Part-3)-1983. All conduit and conduit accessories shall be
of PVC. Conduits shall be joined together by vinyle type cement / solvents. Minimum size
of conduit shall be 20mm dia. Conduit shall be fixed on ceiling or wall. All conduits shall
be concealed in wall ceiling etc. or fixed on surface of wall with clamps at regular interval
as called for elsewhere. For termination of PVC conduits into switch outlet boxes, PVC
female adopters shall be used. Wherever conduit run exceeds 10 metre, circular junction
boxes shall be provided to facilitate pulling & inspection of wires. Inspection boxes shall
be suitable located in co-ordination with the Engineer-in-charge. Conduits shall be bend
using suitable size springs. Long radius bends shall be provided. Heating shall not be used
to bend the conduits. Size of conduit shall depend upon number and size of wires to be
drawn.

3.2 MS Conduit:
Wiring shall be carried out in recessed /surface MS conduits. The MS conduits conform to IS
9537 Part-II-1981 and shall be ISI embossed. All joints in conduits shall be sealed/cemented with
approved solvent cement. Damage conduits/fittings shall not be used. Cut ends of conduits shall
not have sharp edges. (Only 10% MS conduits are used in Buildings as per approved by
NBCC/Client)

3.3 Bends:

As far as possible, the conduit system shall be so laid out that it shall obviate use of tees,
elbows and sharp bends. No length of conduit shall have more than the equivalent of two
quarter bends from inlet to outlet.

3.4 Conduit Accessories:

The conduit wiring system shall be complete in all respects, including their accessories.

Bends, couplers etc. shall be solid type in recessed type of works and may be solid or inspection
type as required, in surface type of works. The accessories shall conform in all respects to the
relevant ISS. Samples shall be got approved by NBCC/Client before use.
3.5 Sheet Metal Outlet/Draw/Inspection/Junction Boxes.

3.6 General

Wherever required, outlet boxes of required sizes shall be fabricated from 1.6 mm thick MS
sheets excepting ceiling fan outlet boxes which shall be fabricated from minimum 2 mm thick
sheets. Outlet boxes shall be provided with minimum 16 mm projected threaded collars. The
outlet boxes shall be of approved quality, finish and manufacture. All outlet boxes shall be
provided with an earth stud. The boxes shall be protected from rust by zinc phosphate primer
process. For concealed conduiting work, boxes with primer only could be embedded. For surface
conduiting work, the boxes shall be finished with minimum one coat of enamel paint of approved
colour. The outlet boxes shall be so protected at the time of fixing that no mortar find its way
inside during concrete filling or plastering. For concealed conduiting work, outlets boxes shall be
completely embedded in walls/ceilings leaving edges flush with finished wall/ceiling surface.

3.7 Switch/Socket Outlets Boxes -Modular Type

Boxes suitable to house modular type switches/sockets of required ratings, and fan regulators as
required shall be provided. In case the number of switches in one box is not tallying with that
available in standard manufacture, the box accommodating the next higher number of switches
shall be provided without any extra cost. In case fan regulator/regulators is /are to be provided at
a later stage, suitable provision for accommodating such regulators shall be made in the switch
boxes and blank off covers shall be provided without any extra cost. The outlet boxes shall be of
MS having external and internal surface true to finish. All boxes shall have adequate number of

knock out holes of required diameter and earth stud. Unless otherwise stated boxes shall be
located with bottom at 1200 mm above finished floor level.

All Switch/Sockets Shall be Modular Type.

3.8 Outlet Boxes for Light Fittings.

These shall be minimum 75 mm x 75 mm x 50 mm deep and provided with threaded collars for
conduit entry as required. For ceiling mounted florescent fittings, the boxes shall be provided.

300 mm off centre for a 1200 mm fitting and 150 mm off centre for a 600 mm fitting so that the
wiring is taken directly to the down rod. 3 mm thick Perspex/hylam sheet cover of matching
colour shall be provided.

3.9 Draw Boxes

Draw boxes of minimum 75mm x 75mm x 50mm deep or larger as required shall be provided at
convenient locations to facilitate drawing of long runs of conductors. These shall have screwed
covers of 3mm thick Perspex/hylam sheet.

Inspection Boxes / Junction Boxes: Inspection boxes of minimum 75mm x 75mm x 50mm deep
shall be provided at suitable location in conduit runs to permit inspection and maintenance. These
shall have screwed covers of 3mm thick Perspex / hylam sheet.

Cross Section

The conduits shall be of ample sectional area to facilitate simultaneous drawing of wires and
permit future provision also. Total cross section of wires measured overall shall not normally be
more than half the area of the conduit. Maximum number of PVC insulated 650/1100 Volt grade
copper conductor wires conforming to IS : 694 – 1990 shall be as per table given below.

Notes:
The above table shows the maximum capacity of conduits for a simultaneous drawing in of cables.
The columns headed ‘S’ apply to runs of conduits which have distance not exceeding 4.25 m
between draw boxes and which do not deflect form the straight by an angle of more than 15
degrees. The columns headed ‘B’ apply to runs of conduit which deflect form the straight by an
angle of more than 15 degrees. Conduits sizes are the nominal external diameters.

3.10 Laying of Conduits

Conduits shall be laid either concealed in walls and ceilings or on surface on walls and ceilings or
partly concealed and partly on surface, as required. Same rate shall apply for concealed and
surface conduiting in this contract.

3.11 Concealed Conduiting


Concealed conduits in concrete members shall be laid before casting, in the upper portion of slabs
or otherwise as may be instructed, so as to embedd the entire run of conduits and ceiling outlet
boxes with a cover of minimum 12mm concrete. Conduits shall be adequately tied to the
reinforcement to prevent displacement during casting at intervels of maximum 1 meter. No
reinforcement bars shall be cut to fix the conduits. Suitable flexible joints shall be provided at all
locations where conduits cross expansion joints in the building.

Concealed conduits in brick work shall be laid in chases to be cut by electrical Contractor in brick
work before plastering. The chases shall be cut by a chase cutting electric machine. The chases
shall be of sufficient width to accommodate the required number of conduits and of sufficient
depth to permit full thickness of plaster over conduits. The conduits shall be secured in the chase
by means of suitable clamps at intervals of maximum 1 meter. The chases shall then be filled with
cement and coarse sand mortar (1:3) and properly cured by watering. Chicken wire mesh shall be
used for closing the chases with cement plaster.

Entire concealed conduit work in concrete members and in brick work shall be carried out in
close coordination with progress of civil works. Conduits in concrete members shall be laid
before casting and conduits in brick work shall be laid before plastering. Should it become
necessary to embeded conduits in already cast concrete members, suitable chase shall be cut in
concrete for the purpose. For minimizing this cutting, conduits of lesser diameter than 25 mm and
outlet boxes of lesser depth than 50 mm could be used by the Contractor for such extensions only
after obtaining specific approval from NBCC/Client. For embedding conduits in finished and
plastered brick work, the chase would have to be made in the finished brick work. After fixing
conduit in chases, chases shall be made good in most workmanlike manner to match with the
original finish.
Cutting chases in finished concrete or finished plastered brick work for embedding conduits and
outlet boxes etc shall be done by the Contractors without any extra cost.

Surface Conduiting Wherever so desired, conduits shall be laid on surface over finished concrete
and/or plastered brickwork. Suitable spacer saddles of approved make and finish shall be fixed to
the finished structural surface along the conduit route at intervals not exceeding 600 mm. Holes in
concrete or brick work for fixing the saddles shall be made neatly by electric drills using masonry
drill bits. Conduits shall be fixed on the saddles by means of good quality heavy duty MS clamps
screwed to the saddles by counter sunk screws. Neat appearance and good workmanship of
surface conduiting work is of particular importance. The entire conduit work shall be in absolute
line and plumb.
Painting of Conduits and Boxes

All draw/switch/junction/fan-hook boxes shall be painted with red oxide/galvanized/zinc


passivated in their manufactured form. All un galvanized/ un plated boxes shall be again painted
with red oxide paint as required before fixing. Boxes fixed on surface shall, in addition, be
painted with finishing paint of approved colour and finish.
Protection of Conduits To safeguard against filling up with mortar/plaster etc. all the outlet and
switch boxes shall be provided with temporary covers and plugs which shall be replaced by
sheet/plate covers as required. All screwed and socketed joints shall be made fully water tight
with white lead paste.
Cleaning of Conduit Runs

The entire conduit system including outlets and boxes shall be thoroughly cleaned after
completion of erection and before drawing in of cables.

3.12 Earthing
Continuous earth wire shall be provided for all points, outlets and sub-mains. Earthing terminals
shall be provided inside all switch boxes, outlet boxes and draw boxes etc.

4.0 WIRES
4.1 Material

Wires shall be PVC insulated with stranded copper conductors, unless otherwise stated, of
650/1100 volt grade, conforming to IS : 694 -1990. All wires shall bear manufacturer’s label and
shall be brought to site in new and original packages. Manufacturer’s certificate, certifying that
wires brought to site are of their manufacture shall be furnished as required.

4.2 Bunching of Wires:

Wires carrying current shall be so bunched in conduits that the outgoing and return wires are
drawn into the same conduit. Wires originating from two different phases shall not be run in the
same conduit.

Drawing of Wires:

The drawing of wires shall be executed with due regard to the following:-

No wire shall be drawn into any conduit, until all work of any nature that may cause injury to
wires is completed. Care shall be taken in pulling the wires so that no damage occurs to the
insulation of the wire. Bushes shall be provided at conduit edges.

Before the wires are drawn conduits, conduits shall be thoroughly cleaned of moisture, dust, dirt
or any other obstruction by forcing compressed air through the conduits if necessary.

While drawing insulated wires into the conduits, care shall be taken to avoid scratches and kinks
which could cause breakage of conductors.

There shall be no sharp bends.

Termination /Jointing of Wires

Sub-circuit wiring shall be carried out in looping system. Joints shall be made only at distribution
board terminals, switches/buzzers and at ceiling roses/connectors/lamp holders terminals of
lights/fans/socket outlets. No joints shall be made inside conduits or junction/draw/inspection
boxes.

Insulation shall be shaved off for a length of 15 mm at the end of wire like sharpening of a pencil
and it shall not be removed by cutting it square or wringing.

Strands of wires shall not be cut for connecting terminals. All strands of wires shall be soldered at
the end before connection.

Conductors having nominal cross sectional area exceeding 4 sq. mm shall always be provided
with crimping sockets.

At all bolted terminals, brass flat washer of large area and approved steel spring washers shall be
used.

Brass nuts and bolts shall be used for all connections.

The pressure applied to tighten terminal screws shall be just adequate, neither too much nor too
less.
Switches controlling lights, fans, socket outlets etc. shall be connected to the phase wire of
circuits only.

Only certified wiremen shall be employed to do wiring / jointing work.

Load Balancing

Balancing of circuits in three phase installation shall be planned before the commencement of
wiring and shall be strictly adhered to.

Colour Code of Conductors


Colour code shall be maintained for the entire wiring installation -red, yellow, blue for three
phases, black for neutral and green for earth.

5.0 MODULAR SWITCHES/SOCKET OUTLETS

5.1 Switches

All 6 and 16 amps switches shall be of modular flush mounting type, unless otherwise stated,
suitable for 250 volt AC supply, best quality and of approved make. The switch moving and
fixed contacts shall be of silver nickel and silver graphite alloy and contact tips coated with
silver. Housing of switches shall be made from high impact resisting flame retarding and ultra
violet stabilized engineering plastic materials. Switches shall be fixed inside the box on
adjustable MS strips/plates with tapped holes brass machine screws, leaving ample space at the
back and side for accommodating wires.

5.2 Combination Outlets:

6A 3 pin / 2 pin combination outlets mounted on switch boards along with other lighting control
switches. Each such outlet will have a corresponding controlling switch mounted next to the
outlet. Such outlets may be looped into the corresponding lighting circuit.

5.3 Socket Outlets

6/16 amps socket outlets shall be of modular flush mounting type, unless otherwise stated, and
shall be switched, three pin type and fitted with automatic linear safety shutters to ensure safety
from prying fingers. Socket outlets shall be made from high impact resistant, flame retarding and
ultra violet stabilized engineering plastic material.

Switches and sockets shall be located in the same plate. Plates for 6 amp switched/
unswitched power and telephone outlets shall be of the same size and shape.

An earth wire shall be provided along the wires feeding socket outlets for electrical appliances.
The earth wire shall be connected to the earthing terminal screw inside the box. The earth
terminal of the socket shall be connected to the earth terminal provided inside the box.

6.0 Lighting Fixtures

Light fixtures and fittings shall be assembled and installed complete as required and ready for
service, in accordance with details, drawings, manufacturer's instructions and to the satisfaction
of the EMPLOYER.

Wires brought out from junction boxes shall be encased in G.I. flexible pipes for connecting to
fixtures concealed in suspended ceilings. Flexible pipes shall be provided with check nuts at both
ends.

Pendant fixtures specified with overall lengths are subject to change and shall be checked with
site conditions and installed as required.

All suspended fixtures shall be mounted rigid and fixed in position in accordance with drawings,
instructions and as approved by Architect/Employer.

Fixtures shall be suspended true to alignment, plumb, level and capable of resisting all lateral and
vertical forces.

All suspended light fixtures, fans etc. shall be provided with concealed suspension arrangement in
the concrete slab/roof members. Making provisions for such arrangements at the appropriate
stage of construction is deemed to be included in contractors’ scope.

Exhaust fans shall be fixed at locations shown on the drawings. They shall be wired to a plug
socket at a convenient location near the fan in flexible conduits.

All switch and outlet boxes and fan regulators shall be bonded to earth with PVC insulated
stranded copper wire as specified.

Wires shall be connected to all fixtures through connector blocks.

Flexible conduits, wherever used, shall be of make and quality approved by NBCC/Client.

Power circuits shall normally have maximum one 16 amps socket outlet unless otherwise stated.
Separate circuit shall be run for each geyser, kitchen equipment, window air conditioners and
similar appliances.

Point wiring rates shall include painting of conduits and other accessories as required.

Point wiring rates shall include cleaning of dust, splashes of colour wash or paint from all
fixtures, fans, fittings etc. at the time of taking over of the installation.

Rates quoted for wiring for groups of more than one light controlled by one switch shall be on
the same basis as above excepting that the cost of interconnection looping wiring between the
first light and subsequent lights controlled by one switch shall also be included in the point
wiring rate.

Wiring for DB controlled groups of lights shall be done through MCB directly from DB.
Control switches are not required and cost of MCB is also not included in the point wiring
rate since this cost is included in the item of DB. Rates quoted for the DB controlled
groups of lights shall be on the same basis as for switch controlled groups excepting that
the cost of switches shall not be included. One DB control circuit should not have
maximum 8 points.

7.0 EARTHING

STANDARDS: IS: 3043/1987 along with Rules Regulations, Directives, and


Specifications.

All switch-gears shall have continuous run of earth bus-bar. The size and materials of the earth
bus bar shall be as specified. All connections to earth and earthing of neutral shall be carried out
in accordance with IS 3043/1987.

8.0 FLOOR PANELS


The scope of this section covers manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of
indoor MV switchboards and distribution.

CONSTRUCTION

The salient feature of construction of panels shall be as follows :

i) Sheet Steel – 14 SWG thick CRCA sheet with folded or braced construction to provide rigid
support for compartments.

ii) Welded construction, with shipping section bolted together. All such joints to be gasket,
lifting lugs to be provided.

iii) The panels shall be totally dust and vermin proof conforming to IP 54 and shall be
floor/wall/Rising Main mounting type.

iv) All doors to be hinged type except bus-bar chamber covers, which shall be bolted type. The
panels shall be of flush front design, suitable for access from front and rear.

v) The construction shall be such as to facilitate easy extension at both ends.

vi) The design shall be such as to have individual feeders in separate compartments, with proper
barriers between adjacent/ feeders, bus-bars chamber and cable box chambers.

vii) Continuous earth bus to run throughout the length of panel.

viii) Ventilating louvers with wire-mesh to be provided.

PAINTING

All sheet steel work shall be properly cleaned and degreased. Rust and scale shall be removed by
pickling and phosphatising. Powder coating of approved shade.

FUSES

All fuses shall be of HRC cartridges fuse-link type having a certified rupturing capacity of not
less than 80 KA at 415 volts AC. The HRC fuses shall conform to IS 13703 (part-II), section 1
EC 269 (Part I & II), IS certified. All fuses shall have visible indication to indicate ‘Blown’
condition.

HRC FUSE CARRIERS

The HRC fuse carriers/bases shall be of high grade PHENOLIE mouldings. The contacts shall be
silver-plated and the contact blocks shall be suitable to receive the rated conductors of aluminum.
The fuses carriers shall have an aperture to view the conditions of HRC fuses mounted inside.

CONTACTORS

The CONTACTORS shall be of the electromagnetic, double-break, non-gravity type rated for
uninterrupted duty suitable for class AC-3A utilization category as per IS: 13947 Part I & II. The
contacts shall be silver-plated.

2 NO and 2 NC auxiliary contacts shall be included.

The operating coils shall have class ‘B’ insulation or higher and shall be suitable for operation of
any specified control supply system.

MOULDED CASE CIRCUIT BREAKERS

The moulded case circuit breakers, MCCB’s shall conform to the latest applicable standard IS
13947 Part I & II.

For AC Circuits the MCCB’s shall be triple/four pole construction and shall have independent
manual opening and closing mechanism. The mechanism shall be quick-make and quick-break
type and the breakers of trip tree in operation. The ‘ON’, ‘OFF’ and ‘TRIP’ mechanism shall be
clearly indicated.

Bolting type Neutral Link to be provided with TP MCCB.

It shall be possible to mount accessories on the MCCB’s like shunt-trip and under voltage release,
alarm contacts, etc.

The MCCB’s shall have microprocessor based/ thermal & static trip devices.

The MCCB’s shall have rupturing capacities as specified in BOQ/Single Line Diagram and
specifications.

MINIATURE CIRCUIT BREAKERS

The MCB’s shall be of single pole, double pole, triple pole or four pole as required conformed to
IS 8828 – 1978. The MCB’s shall be of magnetic / thermal release type with a maximum
rupturing capacity of 10 KA at 415 V and with mid trip knob.

CURRENT TRANSFORMERS

The CTs shall be of dry type epoxy resin cast and shall have short time withstand rating of the
associated switchgear for 1 second.

The measuring instrument CTs shall be of 15 VA, minimum accuracy class 1.0 and an instrument
safety factor of5.
The protection relay CTs shall be of 15 VA, minimum accuracy class 1 & 5P10 and an accuracy
limit factor of 10.

INDICATING INSTRUMENTS AND METERS

Electrical indicating instruments shall be 96 mm square size, suitable for flush mounting.

The zero adjustment shall be done from outside the cover.

The dials to be parallax free with black numerals on a white dial.

INDICATING LAMPS

Indicating lamps shall be provided with neon and HRC fuse link for protection.

The lamp shall be easily replaceable from the front.

MAIN AND AUXILIARY BUSES

The bus-bars shall be of high conductivity electrolytic aluminum alloy or copper tinned as
specified in BOQ. The bus bars shall be of uniform cross-section throughout the length of the
Panels. Neutral bus-bar size shall be half the size of phase and neutral colours.

All main and auxiliary bus-bars shall be insulated with heat shrink sleeves. The sleeves shall be
of high dielectric strength, non-corrosive and of high dielectric strength, non-corrosive and of
phase and neutral colours.

The bus-bars shall be supported on cast epoxy/ resin /DMC/ Fibre glass insulators and the spacing
of the supports shall be such as to withstand the stresses of the short circuit currents. The bus-bar
spacing shall be adequate for a phase voltage up to 600 V.

The bus-bar shall be as chosen for specific current ratings with a maximum density of 1 Amp per
sq.mm area for aluminum and 1.5 A per sq.mm area for copper bus-bars.

INTERNAL WIRING

All internal wiring shall be carried out with 1100 V grades FRLS PVC insulated, stranded
conductor copper wires. The minimum size of wires shall be 1.5 sq.mm copper and for CTs 2.5
sq.mm copper.

All individual control and CTs wiring shall be labelled with engraved identifications ferrules,
yellow in colour with black letters.

All wiring shall be terminated on stud with spread type terminal blocks through crimping type
sockets. No more than 2 connections shall be made on any one terminal block.
All spare auxiliary contacts of contactors and relays shall be wired to control terminal blocks.

TERMINAL BLOCKS

Terminal blocks for power and control shall be of reputed make sturdy type, with washers, nuts

and lock nuts. All adjacent terminals shall have insulating barriers.

All power terminal blocks shall be appropriately rated for current with a minimum of 30 Amps.
The control terminal blocks shall be rated for a minimum of 10 A and suitable for at least 2
conductors each of 2.5 sq.mm termination of power cables direct in switches shall be preferred.

All sets of power and control power terminal blocks shall be identified with engraved plastic
labels, black background and white letters.

IDENTIFICATION LABELS

All labels shall be black plastic with white engravings of letters of minimum 6 mm sizes.

TESTS

High Voltage test at 2.5 KV for 1 minute.

Power and control circuit continuity test.

Insulation resistance test with 1000 V merger.

Operational Test.

Three sets of test certificates to be submitted.

* Suitable rating Floor panel shall be mounting in Floor feed form Rising main & It shall be
separate for all services.

9. RISING MAINS/BUS TRUNKING SYSTEM:-

9.1 MATERIALS

9.1.1 Enclosure

The enclosure shall be made from CRCA sheet steel of 2m thickness for side channel and 1.6 mm
thickness for the front and covers.

Bus trunking system should conform to IEC-139 Part 1 & 2 and shall be suitable for 45 KA
symmetrical fault level 415 volt 3 phase 4 wire 50 Hz supply, insulation voltage 660 volts .

*Rising Main/Bus Bar shall be made of Aluminium Conductor and it shall be appropriate in
size & Rating.

9.1.2 Bus bars Bus bars shall be made of electrical grade E-9/E Aluminium bus bars. The rating of
busbar shall be as specified in drawing /Bill of quantities
Maximum temperature rising of the Rising Mains Bus/ Trunking System shall be as per IEC

standards and temperature rise shall not exceed 50 C above 40 C ambient.

9.1.3 Bus bars shall be of sufficient cross section so that a current density of 0.8 A/1 A Sq mm is not
exceeded at nominal current.

9.1.4 The cross section of the neutral bus bar shall be the same as that of the phase busbar for bus bars
of capacities.

Each bus bar shall be individually insulated by means of heat shrinkable PVC sleeves

9.2 BUSBARS SUPORTS

Bus bar supports/insulators shall be made of thermal resistant epoxy resin as insulation material
and shall be of suitable size and spacing to withstand dynamic stresses due to short circuit
currents in the system.

9.3. MOUNTINGS

9.3.1 Tap off boxes shall be located at specified intervals and shall be installed at a height of 1.5 m to 5
m above the floor level. These shall be permanently connected to the bus bars of the rising mains/
bus trunking system.

9.3.2 An end feed unit for connecting to the incoming cables shall be provided at the bottom end of the
rising mains /bus trunking system.

9.3.3 Tap off boxes shall be suitable for mounting over rising mains bus trunking system. The rating
shall be as specified in the BOQ and on drawings.

9.3.4 The tap off unit shall be complete in all respect having moulded case circuit breaker as protective
switching devices with rotary handles. The rating shall be as specified in drawing and tender
document.

9.3.5 The tap of unit shall be bolted type as required.

9.4 CONSTRUCTION

9.4.1 Enclosure

9.4.2 The rising mains bus trunking system shall be manufactured in convenient sections to facilitate
transportation and installation. The sections shall be connected to form a horizontal /vertical run
at site. Each section shall be provided with suitable wall strips/fixing arrangement at convenient
intervals for fixing to the wall.

9.4.3 The enclosure shall be study so as to withstand the internal and external forces resulting from the
various operating conditions.

9.4.4 The entire bus trunking system shall be designed for dust and vermin proof construction. The
enclosure shall have degree of protection not less than IP-42 in accordance with IS-2147.

9.4.5 Built in fire proof barriers shall be provided to restrict the spread of fire through the bus trunking
system from one section to the adjacent section. The fire barriers comply with resistance class F-

Neoprene rubber gaskets shall be provided between the covers and channels to satisfy the
operating conditions imposed by temperature, weathering durability etc.

Necessary earthing arrangement shall be made alongside the rising mains enclosure by means of a
GI strip of adequate size bolted to each section and shall be earthed at both ends. The rising mains
enclosure shall be bolted type.

9.4.6 The enclosure shall be treated with anti corrosion paint and shall be coated with powder spray
paint. The power spray paint shall be applied electro-statically and baked on to the enclosure.

9.5 BUSBARS AND SUPPORTS

9.5.1 Bus bars joint shall be thoroughly cleaned and suitable oxidizing grease shall be applied before
making joints.
9.5.2 The rising mains bus trunking shall have four bus bar. Bus bar shall be supported every 250 mm
long the length on class B fire retardant insulating supports.

9.5.3 High tensile, bolts, plain and spring washers shall be provided to ensure good contacts at the
joints.

9.5.4 Expansion joint made of aluminium strips shall be provided wherever necessary to take care of
expansion and contraction of the bus bars under normal operating conditions. This shall be
invariably provided wherever the length of the rising mains bus trunking exceed fifteen meter.

9.5.5 The bus bar shall be provided with thrust pads so that the expansion of the conductor is upwards
only.

9.5.6 The bus bar clamps and insulator shall be designed to withstand the forces due to short circuit
current. They shall also permit free vertical movement of the busbars during expansion and
construction.

10 INSTALLATION

10.1 Installation of rising mains/bus trunking system

10.1.1 Rising Mains Bus trunking shall be installed on walls to which suitable supports shall be provided
by the contractor without extra payment.

10.1.2 All opening in floors provided by the client shall be closed by the contractor after installing rising
mains bus trunking system by any suitable means as approved by NBCC/Client without any extra
payment.

10.1.3 Mountings The accessories used with the rising mains bus trunking system for tapping and
distribution shall be as per clause 1.4

10.1.4 Earthing Two no. earth strip shall be provided for body earthing of the rising mains bus trunking
system. Earth strip shall be terminated on the earth strip (coming from mains LT panels) at the
bottom end/end feed units of the rising mains bus trunking system. Metallic body of all mounting
shall be bonded to the earth strip. Earth continuity conductor for further distribution shall also be

taped from the earth strip.

10.1.5 The entire installation including mounting shall be provided in such a manner that there are no
chances of entry of insects into the rising mains bus trunking system.

10.1.6 Danger notice board Danger notice board shall be provided on the rising mains bus trunking
system at every floor level.

10.1.7 Commissioning Before connecting mains supply after installation, pre-commissioning checks
comprising megger test, checking the tightness of the connections body earth connection etc.
shall be carried out and record.

10.1.8 Test and test reports


Type test reports for the rising mains shall be furnished along with the bid and routine test
according to IS-8623 Part-II shall be given with the supply. The routing rest shall comprise of:-

i) Heat run test

iii) Insulation resistance test using 1.1 kV megger
iv) Any other visual test as per the relevant IS at the time of inspection

EXTERNAL ELECTRICAL WORKS

A. PACKAGE SUB STATION (TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION)

1.0 GENERAL
This specification is intended to cover supply, installation, testing and commissioning of
1000KVA Package Sub-Station.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK


The scope of work shall include under this specification design, manufacture, test at works,
supply, loading, unloading, storage, installation, testing and commissioning of the Package Sub
Station including labour, tools, tackles and plants, hardware and consumables, steel fabrication
and items as required and mentioned below:

2.1 All equipment shall be of the class most suitable for working under the conditions specified and
shall withstand the atmospheric conditions without deterioration.

2.2 Minor civil work is included in the contractor’s scope of work. However, the responsibility of
coordination with the civil and other contracting agencies ensuring completion of turnkey
contract rests with the contractor.

2.3 Contractor shall co-ordinate with all other agencies working at site for interconnection and safety
aspects.

2.4 Also the supplier shall furnish back up combined guarantee for 2 years from the date of
successful commissioning. In case there is any defect, the free replacement of any part or in
whole shall be made immediately at no loss to Owner.

2.5 Provide engineering data, drawings, O & M manuals, etc.

2.6 Packing and transportation from the manufacturer’s works to the site.

2.7 Receipt, storage, preservation and conservation of equipment at the site including handling.

a) Equipment and material confirming to any other standard which ensures equal or better quality
may be accepted. In such case copies of English version of the standard adopted shall be

b) The Unitized Sub-station offered shall in general comply with the latest issues including

Vacuum Circuit Breaker as protection to Transformer + LT Switchgear with all connection


accessories, fittings & auxiliary equipment in a pre-fabricated enclosure to supply low-voltage
energy from high-voltage system as detailed in this specification. The complete unit shall be
installed on a substation plinth (base). 11KV Load Break Cable Switches control incoming-
outgoing feeder cables of the 11KV ring/radial distribution system. The SF6 insulated Vacuum
Circuit Breaker shall be used to control and isolate the 11KV / 433V Distribution Transformer.
The Transformer’s LT side shall be connected to LT switchgear by means of copper bus bar. The
connection cables to consumer shall be taken out from the LT switchgear.

The pre-fabricated unitized substation shall be designed for:


a. Compactness,
b. Fast installation,
c. Maintenance free operation,
d. Safety for worker/operator & public as proven via Type Test Report showing compliance to
Internal Arc Classification of 20kA for 01-second for RMU of offered design installed inside the
CSS.

ii. The Switchgear and component thereof shall be capable of withstanding the mechanical and
thermal stresses of short circuit listed in ratings and requirements clause without any damage or
deterioration of the materials.

iii. For continues operation at specified ratings temperature rise of the various switchgear
components shall be limited to permissible values stipulated in the relevant standard and / or this
specification.

D. SERVICE CONDITIONS:
I. The equipment offered shall be suitable for continuous satisfactory operation in Tropical area of
Installation with altitude not exceeding 1000m and relative humidity of 95%.

II. The Enclosure consisting of High Voltage switchgear-control gear, Low Voltage switchgear-
control gear & Transformer of the Unitized Sub-station shall be designed to be used under normal
outdoor service conditions. The enclosure should take minimum space for the installation
including the space required for approaching various doors & equipment inside. The enclosure
construction shall be such that it fully protects ingress of rain water, dust & rusting. For personnel
safety, the enclosure shall be of non-walk-in design.

E. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT
a. The main components of a prefabricated-unitized substation are Transformer, High-voltage
switchgear-control gear, Low-voltage switchgear-control gear, corresponding interconnections
(cable, bus bar) & auxiliary equipment. The components shall be enclosed, by either common
enclosure or by an assembly of enclosure. All the components shall comply with their relevant IS
/ IEC standards.

4.1.3 The enclosure shall be made of 1.5+/-0.5mm thickness Galvanized Sheet Steel Tropicalised to
meet Indian weather conditions including all the partition sheets & doors.

rigidity for easy transport & installation. The entire Package Substation shall be Factory
Assemble & Factory Fitted. It should be with continuous sheet made not Bolted construction
type.

ii. The structure of the substation shall be capable of supporting the gross weight of the roof of the
substation compartment shall be designed to support adequate loads. In case of relocation of the
Package Substation, the entire substation should be capable of getting lifted and placed as a
Single Unit without dismantling of any of the major equipments inside.

iii. There shall be proper / adequate ventilation inside the enclosure so that hot air inside enclosure is
directed out by help of duct. Louvers apertures shall be provided so that there is circulation of
natural air inside the enclosure. The Package Substation should be designed & engineering to
have natural cooling & ventilation instead of forced cooling / ventilation as the same would
derate the Transformer further and shall be an additional load on the Transformer.

iv. The complete design shall be compartmentalized.

v. Interconnection: The connection of HT switchgear to Transformer shall be with the help of


suitable size of cables as per transformer rated KVA and from Transformer to LT switchgear
with the help of suitable size of Aluminium busbars.

vi. Internal Fault: Failure within the unitized substation due either to a defect, an exceptional
service condition or mal-operation may initiate an internal arc. Such an event may lead to the risk
of injury, if persons are present. It is mandatory that the offered design shall be tested for Internal
Arc fault test to the tune of at least 20KA for 1 second adhering to as per latest IEC 62271-
200/202 with offered design of RMU situated inside the CSS compartment

vii. Covers & Doors: Covers & doors are part of the enclosure. When they are closed, they shall
provide the degree of protection specified for the enclosure. All covers, doors or roof shall be
provided with locking facility or it shall not be possible to open or remove them before doors
used for normal operation have been opened. The doors shall open outward at an angle of at least
90O & be equipped with a device able to maintain them in an open position. The top cover shall
be slightly otherwise. Proper padlocking facility compartment. There should not be any provision
for opening of transformer compartment from outside of PSS to avoid direct access. It should be
from inside of MV & LV Compartment.

viii. Earthing: All metallic components shall be earthed to a common earthing point. It shall be
terminated by an adequate terminal intended for connection to the earth system of the
installation, by way of flexible jumpers / strips & Lug arrangement. The continuity of the earth
system shall be ensured taking into account the thermal & mechanical stresses caused by the
current it may have to carry. The components to be connected to the earth system shall include :
a. The enclosure of Unitized / prefabricated substation,
b. The enclosure of High voltage switchgear & control gear from the terminal provided for the
purpose,
c. The metal screen & the high voltage cable earth conductor,

f. Painting and Fabrication process :

(i) The paints shall be carefully selected to withstand tropical heat rain. The paint shall not scale off
or crinkle or be removed by abrasion due to normal handling. For this purpose powder coating
shall be used.

(ii) Special care shall be taken by the manufacturer to ensure against rusting of nuts, bolts and fittings
during operation. All bushings and current carrying parts shall be cleaned properly after final
painting.

(iii) The fabrication process shall ensure that there are no sharp edges on the GI sheets used.

4.2 11kV Switchgear

4.2.1 Non-extensible SF6 Insulated Compact Switchgear as required shall consist of following items:

a. Load Break Cable Switch with integral earth switch having full making capacity shall be used for
Incoming cables.

b. SF6 insulated Vacuum Circuit Breaker shall be used for distribution network of HT switchgear.
Circuit Breaker complete with operating mechanism, self powered,

4.3 Cable Termination: Each Cable compartment shall be provided with three bushings of adequate
sizes to terminate the incoming outgoing 11kV, 3 Core as the case may be. There shall be enough
height from the base of the mounted switchgear so that the cables can be bent and taken vertically up
to the bushings. The Cable termination shall be done by Heat shrinkable Termination method so that
adequate clearances shall be maintained between phases for Termination. Access to all the cables
should be possible form the front/side of RMU. Cable Termination boots shall be supplied by the
switchgear manufacturer.

4.4 Locking Arrangement: Suitable padlocking arrangements shall be provided as stated below:
i. Circuit Breaker manual operating handle in the “OFF” position.
ii. Each feeder Panel operating handle in ‘Closed’ ‘Open” or ‘Earth’ position.
iii. Each isolator operating handle in ‘Closed’, ‘ Open’, or ‘Earth’ position.

static type O/C,E/F protection relay with associated Current Transformers shall be
used for control and protection of Transformer. An integral cable earthing switch
with full making capacity shall be provided.

The above Load Break Cable Switch, SF6 insulated Vacuum Circuit Breaker, Copper

Bus bars should be mounted inside a sealed for life, stainless steel tank. The
operating mechanism of the switches and breakers shall be outside the SF6 tank and
accessible from front/side. The tank should be filled with SF6 gas at an adequate
pressure. The degree of protection for gas tank should be IP67. Moreover the
Stainless Steel Gas Tank shall confirm to the sealed pressure system as per IEC and
ensure the gas leakage to 0.1 % per year as per IEC.

d. The SF6 insulated Vacuum Circuit Breaker is required to control 11 kV/433 volts
distribution Transformer of rating upto 2000 KVA and relay settings and Current
Transformers shall be selected accordingly.

e. General Finish: Totally enclosed, metal enclosed, vermin and dust proof suitable
for tropical climate use as detailed in the specification.

f. Ratings: The bus bars shall be made of Copper and have continuous rating of 630
Amps. The isolator and Circuit Breaker shall have a continuous rating of 630 Amps
in accordance with relevant IS / IEC standard

g. Breaking & Making Capacity: The Load Break Cable Switches shall be capable for
breaking rated full load current. The same along with its earthing switch shall also
making
be suitable for full of the system as specified. The com
capacity
switchgear shall be suitable for breaking capacity of 21kA symmetrical at 11000
volts three phase for 11kV system for 3 sec.

h. Busbar: Switchgear shall be complete with all connection, bus-bars etc. Copper

encapsulated by SF6 gas inside the tank.

5.5 Isolator: The Isolators offered shall conform to same standards as RMU as amended to date. The
isolator shall be triple pole, spring assisted, hand operated, non-automatic type with quick break contacts.
The operating handle shall have three positions ‘ON’, ‘OFF’ and ‘EARTH’ which shall be clearly marked
with suitable arrangement to padlock in any position. A safety arrangement for locking shall be provided
by which the isolator operation shall be prevented from ‘ON’ position to ‘EARTH’ position or vice versa.
5.6 Switchgear: Sealed for life, the enclosure shall meet the “sealed pressure system” criteria in
accordance with IEC: 298 (a system for which no handling of gas is required throughout service life of
approximate 30 years covered by manufacturer’s warranty, or otherwise have possibility of gas-refilling
at site.) There shall be no requirement to ‘top up’ the SF6 gas warranted by manufacturer, or otherwise
shall have provision to top-up the same. In addition, manufacturer shall confirm that maximum leakage
rate is lower than 0.1% per year. It shall provide full insulation, making the switchgear insensitive to the
environment. Thus assembled, the active parts of the switchgear unit shall be maintenance free.

The switchgear & switchboard shall be designed so that the position of different devices is visible
to the operator on the front of the switchboard via true-position indicators. The switchboard shall
be designed so as to prevent access to all live parts during operation without the use of tools.

RMU should be tested for internal arc fault test inside the CSS.
5.7 Circuit Breaker: The Unit shall consist of Tee-off spring assisted, three pole SF6 insulated
Vacuum Circuit breaker, with in-series fault making / dead breaking earth switch. The function
shall be naturally interlocked to prevent the main bus bar from getting
earthed . The selection of the main/earth switch lever on the panel front facial, The lever shall be
able to pad locked in either the main or earth position.

5.7.1 Protection: The Circuit breaker shall be fitted with numerical type self powered relay password
protected to avoid any tampering. The relay shall be capable of tripping on Low and High set for
Over current and Earth Fault. Relay should have facility to display the maximum loaded phase
current and record minimum 5 fault records with time
stamping. Relay shall be operated via Resin cast Ring Core Protection CTs of suitable ratio and
burden, pre-installed in the respective cable-box.

5.8 Distribution Transformer


5.8.1 Oil Filled Transformer
5.8.1.1 Requirement : 11000/433 Volt Oil immersed, 1000 KVA ONAN cooled suitable for
installation at outdoor in Enclosure for ground mounting. The transformer should be
hermitically sealed & should be with corrugated wall design
5.8.1.2 Voltage Ratio: No load voltage 11000/433 volts within tolerance as stipulated in
IS:2026.

5.8.1.3 Rating: The transformer shall have a continuous rating as specified at any of the
specified tapping position and with the maximum temperature rise specified.
5.8.1.4 Temperature Rise: The maximum temperature rise at the specified maximum
continuous output shall not exceed 40°C by thermometer in the hottest portion of the oil
or 50° C measured by resistance of winding above ambient temperature, not exceeding
40°C daily average or 50°C maximum.
5.8.1.5 Type of Load: The transformer shall be suitable for carrying load within temperature rise
indicated in the Indian Standard specification IS:6600 ‘Guide for loading of oil immersed
Transformer’.
5.8.1.6 Overloads: The transformers shall be suitable for carrying overload within temperature
rise indicated in IS:6600 ‘Guide for Loading of oil immersed Transformer’.
5.8.1.7 Connections: H.V. Delta and L.V Star connected with neutral brought out on the
secondary side for connection to earth; Vector group DYn11 of IS:2026.

5.8.1.8 Tapping :
a) Each transformer shall be provided with Rotary type tap switch so as to provided for a
voltage adjustment on H.V. from +5% to –5% of rated voltage of 11000 volts in 4 equal
steps (5 position) to obtain rated voltage of 433 volts on LV side. The tapping shall be
provided for following voltage ratios at no load.
b) Each transformer shall be provided with adjustable tapping Links such as to provided
for a voltage adjustment on H.V. from +5% to –5% of rated voltage of 11000 volts in 4
equal steps (5 position) to obtain rated voltage of 433 volts on LV side. The tapping shall
be suitable to change on H.V. side by links provided for this purpose.
5.8.2 Cleaning & Painting :
5.8.2.1 a) All steel surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned by sand blasting or chemical agents,
as required to produce a smooth surface free of scales, grease and rust.
b) The internal surfaces in contact with insulating oil shall be painted with heat resistant
insulation paint which shall not react & be soluble in the insulating liquid used.
c) The external Surfaces, after cleaning, shall be given two coats of high quality epoxy
based rust resisting primer as per IS:2074 followed by filler coats.
d) The transformer shall be furnished with coats of weather resisting battleship gray epoxy
based enamel paint as per IS:2932 specially recommended for transformer use.
e) The paints shall be carefully selected to withstand tropical heat rain, effect of proximity
to the sea etc. The paint shall not scale off or crinkle or be removed by abrasion due to
normal handling.
f) Special care shall be taken by the manufacturer to ensure against rusting of nuts, bolts
and fittings during operation. All bushings and current carrying parts shall be cleaned
properly after final painting.

5.8.2.2 Both H.V. and L.V. bushings shall have creepage corresponding to very heavily polluted
atmosphere.

5.8.2.3 Oil: New transformer oil used shall be according to IS:335.


5.8.2.4 Phase Marking & Danger Plate: Phase markings in fluorescent paint on small non-
corrodible metallic tags shall be permanently fixed for H.V. and L.V sides. Phase
markings tags shall be properly fixed with proper alignment. Danger plates shall be
provided on the H.V & LV sides, mentioning the Corresponding Voltages.
5.8.3 Core and Coil :
5.8.3.1 Core : The core shall be constructed from high grade, cold rolled, non-ageing, low loss,
high permeability, grain oriented, cold-rolled grain oriented silicon steel laminations.
The transformer shall be so designed as to have minimum humming noise. The
percentage harmonic potentials with the maximum flux density under any conditions
shall be such that capacitors connected in the system shall not be overloaded.
5.8.3.2 The core and coil assembly shall be securely fixed in position so that no shifting or
deformation occurs during movement of transformer. The core and coil assembly shall
be capable of withstanding without injury, the thermal and mechanical effects of short
circuit at the terminals of any winding as per IS:2026.
5.8.3.3 Impedance Volts: The Percentage impedance value at 75 Deg. C at any tap shall be 5%
subject to tolerance as specified in IS:2026. The value of the impedance volts at each
tapping over the specified range shall be specified in the bid.
5.8.3.4 Regulation: The regulation at 75°C at full load at unity and 0.8 power factor subject to
the usual tolerance as per IS:2026 shall be specified in the bid.
5.8.3.5 Power Freq. High Voltage & Insulation Level (Impulse voltage): The distribution
transformer shall be designed so that they are capable of withstanding high voltage &
impulse voltages as per IS:2026 and as given below:

connected equipments shall be properly done.
b) Two lifting lugs for complete transformer as well as enclosure.
c) Off circuit tapping switch shall be rotary type, 3 pole gang operated, top mounting draw
out type only. Tap switch shall be suitable for rated current considering 20% overloading
& operating voltage. Switch shall be provided with externally operating hand wheel
handle with indicator and locking device, with direction changing facility and locking
arrangement.
e) Rating plate and diagram plate of durable non-corroding metal giving information as
required under IS:2026. Rating plate shall also include Transformer Actual %Z, No-
Load Loss & Full-Load Loss at 75°C along with details like Purchase Order Number,
date. The name plate marking shall be done with fluorescent colour. Each equipment
shall carry individual name-plate with proper instructions & affixed with screws.

5.10 LT Switchgear:
5.10.1 System:-

As per the requirement given in the specifications / schedule of requirement.
5.10.5 Construction :
5.10.5.1 The terminals shall be of sufficient mechanical strength and shall provide
adequate electrical contact for the appropriate size of cable used. They shall be capable
of receiving appropriate size of Aluminum conductors. They shall be provided with
stainless steel nut bolts, plane washers and spring washers for cable connection.
5.10.5.2 The enclosure shall be of sheet steel of 2mm CRC sheet steel, dust vermin proof,
duly powder coated and wired as per standard engineering practice and CPRI tested.
5.10.5.3 No contact pressure shall be transmitted through insulating material & the
gripping of the conductor shall take place between metal faces.
5.10.6 Earthing :
5.10.6.1 Earthing arrangement shall be provided for earthing each cable, PVC cable gland,
neutral busbar, chassis and frame work of the cubicle with separate earthing terminals at
two ends. The main earthing terminals shall be suitably marked .The earthing terminals
shall be of adequate size, protected against corrosion, and readily accessible. These shall
be identified by means of sign marked in a legible manner on or adjacent to terminals.
5.10.6.2 Neutral bus bar strip shall be connected to Earthing terminal with help of copper
strip of suitable capacity & nut-bolt arrangement.

5.10.8 LT Switchgear
Specification/Selection of Air Circuit Breaker and Moulded Case Circuit Breakers:-

2) From 200A-300A MCCBs shall be used of 35kA short Ckt. Current and should be

5.12 EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATION


5.12.1 Air circuit breaker (ACB) These shall be fixed type with manually operated mechanism. The
short circuit mechanism and breaking capacity as shall be supported by test Report. The test
report should be from CPRI / any Govt or Internationally.. approved recognized test house /
laboratory.
The circuit breaker shall be fitted with CT operated thermal overload and short circuit releases
devices for suitable current rating.

.a. Overload releases should be settable from 50% to 100% of the rated current In.
.b. Ambient temperature compensated type and there should not be de-rating of ACB current

.(xii) It shall conform to IS 13947 / pt.2 / 1993 with latest amendment, if any.
.a. Performance category -Utilization category – B or as defined by CSS manufacturer.

.(xiii) The trip indication separated for overload and individual phase wise trip indication for short
circuit to be provided.
.a. The ACB shall have the provision to lock the operating mechanism in off position.
.b. The operating mechanism should be form front and the Enclosure should have the degree of
protection IP – 54.
.c. The CT’s mounted for thermal overload release.
.d. Two nos. earthing bolts for propose of earthing of ACB may also be provided & suitable for G.I
stay wire of size 7 / 10 SWG.
.e. The bus bar size shall be confirming to relevant IS and the neutral bus bar shall be of At least
50% of size as phase bus bar and should be suitable for connecting neutral.
.f. The ACB shall be tested in accordance with the provision of IS: 13947 – Part I or relevant IEC

5.12.2 Moulded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB)

MCCB up to 250 A with thermal-magnetic releases & beyond 250 A shall be with micro
processor based releases.

Connection between Transformer LT terminals to ACB shall be through 4 pole aluminum bus
bars.

5.12.3 Interconnecting Bus bar Bus bar shall be of high conductivity aluminum (E91E) supported on
insulators made of non-hygroscopic, non-inflammable material with tracking index equal to or
more than that defined in BIS. The main bus bars shall have uniform current ratings throughout
their length as specified in data sheet / job specification. The current rating of the neutral shall be
half that of the phase bus bars. Removable neutral links shall be provided on feeders to permit
isolation of the neutral bus bar.

The hot spot temperature of bus bars including joints at design ambient temperature shall not
exceed permissible limits as per IEC.

The current rating of the bus bars shall be as required for design ambient temperature at site
conditions and for being inside the cubicle at fully loaded condition. The vendor shall suitably de-
rate the nominal rating to suit the above condition.

Minimum clearance between live parts, between live parts / neutral to earth shall be sufficient to
meet insulation requirement. However clearances between terminals at components shall be as
per applicable individual standard for components.

Interconnections between the main bus bars and individual units shall be made using vertical /
horizontal aluminum bus bars of adequate rating.

6.0 DESIGN

Shall be as per schedule of quantities as per NBCC/Client.


Shall be as per schedule of quantities or written above.
The design and workmanship shall be in accordance with the best engineering practices, to ensure
satisfactory performance and service life. The equipment offered by the contractor shall be
complete in all respects. Any materials or accessories, which may not have been specifically
mentioned, but which are usual and necessary for the satisfactory and trouble free operation and
maintenance of the equipment shall be provided without any extra cost to the purchaser.

7.0 DRAWINGS, DATA & MANUALS


Drawings and details of foundation, RMU, transformer and LT section shall be furnished along
with the bid. Wiring diagram of all equipment / devices shall be furnished. Installation, operation
and maintenance manuals shall also be furnished.

8.0 DEVIATIONS
Should the contractor desire to deviate from this specification in any way, he shall draw specific
attention to such deviation giving complete reasoning/comparison with other products.

Unless such deviations are recorded in the separately attached Deviation Sheets, as submitted
with offer, it will be taken for granted that the offer is made in conformity with this specification.

9.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM


Quality Assurance shall follow the requirements of NBCC/Client as applicable. Quality
Assurance involvement will commence at inquiry and follow through to completion and
acceptance thus ensuring total conformity to Purchaser’s requirements. PSS should be type tested
for internal arc classification 20KA/Sec.

Manufacturer shall submit its QAP along with drawings for approval. Inspection of the product
shall be done as per approved QAP.

10.0 GUARANTEED PERFORMANCE


The contractor shall furnish, along with the offer, the technical particulars as called in the
specifications. The performance figures quoted in the technical particulars sheets shall be
guaranteed within the tolerance permitted by relevant standards. In case of failure of equipment to
meet the guarantee, the purchaser reserves the right to use these rejected equipment until the new
equipment meeting the guaranteed requirements is supplied by the contractor.

11.0 PACKING FOR SHIPMENT


11.1 The equipment shall be suitably protected by respective packing for the shipment distance and
weather conditions involved.
11.2 For transportation, if totally enclosed boxes are not used, the equipment shall be mounted on
skids and enclosed in the open frame wooden crates. However, items like Instruments and other
components not assembled with equipment shall be separately marked with equipment number
and part number for case of identification.
* Complete Package Substation including RMU, Transformer & LV side shall be
made/supply of same OEM.

2. MV/MAIN LT PANELS
2.1 Enclosures of factory Built Assemblies:

2.1.1 Unless otherwise indicated, enclosures shall provide a minimum degree of protection of IP 42
when located within buildings and IP54 when located outside building.

a. Door shall have adequate fastenings with provision for locking in the
closed position.
b. Fixing holes for equipment may be inside or outside the enclosure.
c. Earthing terminals shall be fitted to each enclosure, suitable for internal
and external connection to enable the exposed conductive parts of the
protective conductor.
d. Where the enclosure has a painted finish, provision shall be made for
earthing terminal to be electrically connected to the enclosure without
need to remove any paint from ferrous metal.
e. Cable terminals shall be suitable for the number, size and type of cables as
indicated. Adequate spacing shall be allowed for spreading of cable tails to
avoid stress on the insulation or terminals; if necessary, extension boxes
shall be fitted to standard enclosures. Terminals for neutral conductors for
three phase and neutral circuits shall be the same
conductor, except where reduced section neutral cable cores are indicated.
f. 2 Nos. of Gland Plates for cable entry made of 3 mm thick CRCA sheet,
complete with required Knock Outs shall be provided at top or bottom

with number and size of knock outs to be sufficient for the incoming and
outgoing as specified in the panel details as per site conditions.
g. Metallic enclosures for location within buildings shall have a stove dried
painted finish of the manufacturer’s standard colour, unless otherwise
indicated. Ferrous parts shall be degreased and adequately rust protected
immediately prior to painting.
h. The compartment door shall be interlocked mechanically with the switch
so that the door cannot be opened unless the switch is in OFF position.
Means shall be provided for releasing this interlock at any time.
i. All MCCBs shall be provided with Rotary handle on the front door unless
specifically mentioned otherwise and the panel will be Mechanical &
Electrical interlocked as per NBCC/Client Approval.
j. All Bus bar in LT Panel & Floor Panel shall be made Aluminium Conductor.

2. Construction:
a. Basic Structure:
.a. All electrical panels will be fabricated from 14 SWG thick CRCA sheet steel for robust
construction properly supported with angles and channels.
.b. Panels shall be totally enclosed, dust and vermin proof, fully compartmentalized, cubical design
modular construction. The covers and doors shall be very well gasketted with neoprene rubber gaskets so
as to obtain dust proof enclosure.
.c. The cubicle will be floor-mounted type unless specified otherwise.
.d. The cabinet will be bolt construction.
e. Doors:
.a. Door shall be made of 14 SWG thick CRCA sheet steel, with foamed seal polyurethane gasket,
square section under tabular frame with punching in DIN pitch pattern.
.b. The door will be provided with concealed hinges and panel locks of superior quality. The hinges
will be union joint type to facilitate easy removal of the doors when necessary. Neoprene gaskets shall be
provided beneath all doors and corners and also between adjacent sections, and on gland plates.
.c. The doors will be provided in a similar fashion as generally provided for the outdoor cabinet,
where water cannot enter in the cabinet from the door.
.d. The door will be provided with strengthening arrangement to avoid wobbling and distortion.
.e. Wherever the doors are opened on horizontal hinges, an arrangement will be provided to latch the
doors in an open condition for inspection of the wiring.
.f. Generally meter, relays push buttons, signal lamps and control components will be provided on
separate compartments for in-comer feeders only.
.g. The circuit components will be mounted on sectionalized 3 mm thick CRCA sheet with suitable
threading in the sheets to facilitate easy maintenance, future addition etc..
.h. The panels shall be manufactured with separate bus bar chamber isolated from unit feeder
chambers and cable alleys, to provide extra safety for working personnel.

2. Dimensions:
1. The height of the panel will be as per the drawing but not be more than 2400 mm. Depth
of the panel will not be less than 1000 mm and width of the panel will be given in the
particulars of panel specifications or as per actual site conditions. Shop drawings shall
have to be approved by the NBCC/Client before fabrication is taken up by hand.

3. Adaptor Chambers for all cable entries:


1. Wherever necessary, sheet metal adaptor chambers with angle frame and minimum depth
of 300 mm will be supplied with panel. All the covers of adaptor box will be removable
type. The box can be mounted horizontally or vertically. The pattern of cable entry,
wherever not specified will have to be confirmed by the manufacturer/ Supplier/ Contractor
in writing after placement of order. The cable entry shall be as per actual site conditions
and approved.
4. Powder Coating Treatment:
.a. The cubicle will undergo the process of Powder Coating treatment to the satisfaction of the
NBCC/Client.
.b. The panels shall be treated for degreasing, de-rusting, phosphate and passivating by adopting
seven/nine tank process. As per the Indian Standard Specification. Power coating process with a final
coating shall be of minimum 70 microns.
.c. The painting of panel shall be carried out in a dust free atmosphere then baked in oven.

5. Bus bars:
.a. The bus bars will be of Aluminium with a current density of 1.0 Amp per Sq. mm. The bus bars
will be insulated with heat shrinkable sleeves and properly supported. All live parts shall be shrouded by
means of acrylic / steel /FRP sheets to ensure no accidental contact with live parts during maintenance
and provide simultaneous inspection. The bus bar supports will be designed to withstand short circuit
current equivalent to 35 MVA at 415 volts. The bus bars will be adequately insulated and protected to
prevent accidental contact during operation and maintenance.
.b. Non-hygroscopic SMC supports shall be used for bus bar to give better mechanical and electrical
strength and to ensure capability to withstand specified fault current.

6. Insulation:
a. The insulation between phases and between phases and ground of the power
conductors will be made of synthetic resin board/moulding, resistant to dust and
dampness. All insulating material will be non-hygroscopic, fungus-proof and treated
with suitable synthetic varnishes.

7. Terminals:
a. Up to 35 sq. mm cables, the terminal will be provided of clip-on type generally
manufacture by approved make and above 35 sq. mm, cable end terminals will
provide of brass stud type designed of rugged construction.

8. Wire ways:
a. PVC extruded wire ways of required size will be provided for wiring in the control
panel.

9. Ferruling and colour code:


a. Cabling for power circuit should be red, Yellow and blue or otherwise proper colour
sleeving shall be provided at both ends of cables. For control cables every conductor
will be provided with the identification ferrule matching with the one in the drawing.
b. All power and control wiring shall be done by using thimbles ferrules of proper size
and quality at both ends for identification. The wiring shall be neatly bunched for easy
identification.

10. Cable Termination:


.a. Every cable, either for control or power duty will be provided with crimped type of lugs of
suitable size as specified.
.b. All power and control wiring terminals shall be brought out in the cable Alley for easy Cable
Termination.

11. Cables (Internal Wiring)


.a. All the cables will be PVC insulated FRLS of ISI approved and reputed make. The cables will be
copper conductor as specified in the drawings and will be stranded and minimum number of strands will
be three. The ratings will conform to IEE regulations.
.b. All internal wiring inside the cubicle shall be carried out with 1100V grade, PVC insulated
copper wires duly ferruled at either end. The power wiring above 100A shall be carried out through the
PVC insulated aluminium links.

12. Earthing:
a. The earth busbars should be GI/AI unless otherwise specified. Bolts to be of cadmium
plated with washers. Earth bus bars will be provided all around the cubicle at the
bottom with duplex external earth connection arrangement.

13. Cable Glands and Lugs:


a. The cable glands will be of brass cone grip type. These glands will be provided for all
the outgoing connections at both the ends for power as well as control circuits
provided in the panel and also for the incoming cable or cables. Lugs will be crimped
for termination of outgoing cable at both ends (i.e. load end and panel end) with each
outgoing feeder.

14. Feeder Units:


.a. The feeder units shall be of compartmental design comprising of cubicles assembled together and
shall incorporate cubicle MCCB and MCB having rupturing capacity of minimum 25 KA and 10 KA at
440 volts respectively unless specifically mentioned.
.b. The MCCB shall be quick break and trip free type with magnetic thermal release or as specified
in the BOQ. Protection Devices shall be as specified in BOQ.
.c. Individual MCCB (with ammeter, selector switch, CTs) small wiring where provided should be
easily removable from the front of the switchboard for servicing and maintenance. The connections to
MCCBs from the bus bars and cables should be terminated in pressure bolted joints inside the switch
contacts.

d. The MCCB on main LT Panel shall have ratings: 63A, 100A, 125 A, 160
A, 200 A, 250A, 320A, 400A / 630A with 35 KA (minimum) rupturing
capacity.
e. Bus bar should have sufficient mechanical strength to with stand the
effects of short circuit until it can be cleared by appropriate protecting
device. All bus bars should be clearly marked with appropriate colour
code to enable immediate identification of the phase and neutral.
(Mechanical strength up to 50KA/1 Sec).
f. The vertical bus bar should have a number of laminations to give
appropriate current rating and can be graded to suit the current rating
required at each point by omitting laminations at the points of current

decrease.
g. Arrangements should be provided to receive PVC cables either from the
topside or from the bottom (as specified). End plates should be mounted
inside the bus bar at unit level for cables from above or below.
h. All sheet-steel parts used in the construction of a cubicle board should
have undergone rigorous rust proofing process which must comprise of
alkaline degreasing descaling in dilute sulphuric acid and a recognized
phosphate process. The steel work shall be finished with powder coating
paint.
i. The equipment when assembled shall form a neat and compact unit and
shall be complete with supporting framework, mounting channels, and
foundation bolts etc. and shall be designed so as to ensure complete
interchange ability of components.

15. Capacitor Bank & Panel:


a. Scope:
a) This specification covers requirements of Medium Voltage Capacitors and Control Panel to
be used for power factor improvement of the electrical system and shall be connected to Main
L.T. Panels. Automatic Power Factor Correction Panel shall function to improve power factor
of the system in which it is connected. It shall improve power factor upto 0.95 from initial
power factor of 0.75.
b. Codes & Standards:
.a. The design, manufacture and performance of power capacitors and accessories shall comply with
all currently applicable statutes, regulations and safety codes for power installation as prescribed in
relevant IS codes and to requirement of Local Electricity Supply Authority to which the equipment shall
be installed.
.b. Unless otherwise specified the capacitor and control panel shall conform to following

3. Constructional Feature:
a) Capacitor bank shall be suitable for operation on 415 volts 3 phase, 4 wire, 50 c/s and solidly
earthed AC supply system. The capacitor shall be connected to the 415 V Switchgear bus and
shall be manually as well as automatically
switched in and out in steps so as to correct the power factor as per the required
value depending on the actual KVAR requirement of bus.

b) The capacitor bank shall be complete with the required capacitor units with the
supporting post insulators, sheet steel cubicles, bus bars, connecting strips,
foundation channels, fuses, corrosion proof rating plate etc.

c) Each basic unit is to be built up with a number of elements. These elements

are to be given adequate outside insulation and should be put in all welded
surface treated MS containers. These capacitors shall be impregnated with
special grade of capacitor oil under high vacuum. The metal case shall be
equipped with porcelain bushings to permit connection between power lines
and active capacitors.

d) Externally each capacitor unit shall have two separate earthing points, name
plate conforming to the requirements of IS:2834 (amended up to date),
discharge resistance etc.

e) The capacitor bank may comprise suitable number of single phase self cooled
hermetically sealed units in series parallel combination to achieve required
KVAR rating. However, failure of one unit shall not create an over voltage on
other units connected in parallel to avoid failure of parallel units.

f) Each capacitor unit/bank shall be provided with directly connected continuously


rated, low loss discharge device built into the unit to reduce the residual voltage
to a safe value within the specified time as recommended in the relevant
standard after the capacitor has been disconnected from the supply.

g) All capacitors shall be suitably protected against over current by means of


suitable over current protection (other than fuses) which is adjusted to interrupt
the circuit when the current exceeds the safe permissible limit.

h) Capacitor units shall also be protected against internal faults and the effected
units/banks shall be automatically and immediately isolated in the event of such
fault.
i) Each capacitor unit shall continuously operate at the following overload
conditions separately.

i). Over voltage up to 10% of the rated RMS voltage.


ii). Over current up to 15% of the rated current.
iii). Maximum reactive output up to 30% over the rated reactive output.

4. Each capacitor unit shall be individually protected by HRC fuses/MCCB/MCB with visual indication
for operation as specified.
5. Capacitor Control Panel:
a) The control panel shall be indoor/Outdoor type, floor mounted, dust and
vermin proof conforming to degree of protection IP42/IP54.

b) Cubicle shall comprise rigid structural frame enclosed by 14 SWG thick cold
rolled sheet steel; doors and covers shall be 14 SWG thick cold rolled sheets
steel. Structural framework with foundation bolts etc. shall be provided at the
bottom to mount control panel directly on concrete/floor/steel channel base.

c) All doors, removable covers shall be gasketed all around preferably with

neoprene gaskets.

d) The capacitors control panel shall, in general, comprise of the following and shall
be housed in well-ventilated panels. Capacitors and their control elements may
be installed in different compartments of the same panel to minimize space
requirement.

i. Power factor correction relay.


ii. Step controller with reversing motor.

iii. Time delay and No-volt relays.


iv. Protection fuses.
v. Contactors for individual capacitors banks.

vi. Change-over switch for either automatic operation or manual operation with push button control.

vii. Visual indication for capacitor IN-OUT.

viii Incoming MCCB/ACB.

.ix. 4 pole auxiliary switch for power supply to APFC relay.


.x. Ammeter with selector switch & CT’s.

xi. Voltmeter with selector switch, protection fuse/MCB, indicating lamps.

e) Switches shall be triple pole, air break AC-23 duty. The switch shall have a quick make, quick
break mechanism operated by a suitable external handle complete with position indicator.

f) The compartment door shall be interlocked mechanically with the switch so that the door cannot
be opened unless the switch is in OFF position. Means shall be provided for releasing this
interlock at any time.

g) Fuses (if used) shall be HRC, preferably link type, with a minimum interrupting capacity equal to
the listed short circuit current. Fuses shall be complete with fuse base and fitting of such design
as to permit easy and safe replacement of fuse element. Visible indication shall be provided on
blowing of the fuse.

h) The Contactors shall be Three Pole, Air Break Type designed for duty class III category AC3
with non-bouncing silver alloy contacts. Each Contactor shall be
provided with 2 NC and 2 NO. Indicating lamps shall be LED type shall be
replaceable from front.

i) The main buses and connection shall be of high conductivity


aluminium/aluminium alloy. Sized for specified current rating shall be limited to
105OC and 100OC for silver plated copper joints and aluminium joints
respectively.

j) For all bus connections adequate contact pressure shall be ensured by means of
two bolt connection with plain and spring washers and locknuts.

k) Bus bars and connections shall be fully insulated for working voltage with
adequate phase/ground clearance. Insulating sleeves for bus bars and shrouds
for joints shall be provided. Shrouds for bus bar joints and tapping points shall
be of two part epoxy resin cast/fibre glass moulded. Minimum clearance of
33mm is required between phases and between phase and earth irrespective of
sleeve/shrouds provided for bus bar. Insulating shrouds shall be of moulded
type.
l) Bus supports shall be non-hygroscopic type epoxy/SMC/DMC with high creep
age surface.

m) All buses and connections shall be supported and braced to withstand the
stresses due to maximum short-circuit current and also to take care of any
thermal expansion.

n) Bus bars shall be colour coded for easy identification and so located that the
sequence R-Y-B shall be from left to right, top to bottom or front to rear, when
viewed from the front to panel assembly.

o) The horizontal bus bar chamber shall be separate and totally enclosed.

p) Gland plate shall be minimum 3mm thick & shall be removable.


q) Screws of corrosion resistant material shall be furnished on all ventilating
louvers to prevent the entry of insects.

r) All internal wiring inside the cubicle shall be carried out with 1100 V grade,
FRLS insulated copper wires duly ferruled at either end. The power wiring above
100A shall be carried out with PVC insulated aluminium links.
s) Separate labels shall be provided for relay, instruments, switch, indicating lamp
etc. Approval for the type of label shall be taken from the NBCC/Client.

t) Painting shall include emulsion cleaning, pickling with dilute acid, washing and
rinsing by water, phosphating and oven drying. One (1) coat of stoving type zinc
chromate primer and two (2) coats of synthetics enamel.

u) Automatic control relay with necessary taps shall be provided.

3. HT POWER DISTRIBUTION CABLES:


3.1 H.T. Cables:

3.1.1 Construction:
.a. All HT Cables shall be of 11 KV grade XLPE insulated & PVC sheathed flat steel wires (strips)
armoured electrical purity aluminium conductor cables, manufactured and tested in accordance with
IS:7098 (Part II) 1985.

.b. The conductor shall be made of electrical purity aluminium wires and shall be of stranded
construction and shall comply to IS: 8130. High quality XLPE unfilled insulating compound shall be used
for insulation.
.c. Insulation shall be carried out by extrusion process and shall be chemically cross-linked in
continuous vulcanization process. Core screen shall consist of a layer of extruded semi-conducting
compound. Additional insulation shield shall

be provided with semi conducting and metallic tape shield over the extruded
insulation shield.
d. Inner and outer sheathing with insulation shall have perfect bonding. Cores shall
be stranded together with suitable non-hygroscopic fillers in the interstices and
provided with common covering of plastic tape wrapping. Armouring shall be
applied over the inner sheath and shall comprise of flat steel wires (strips).
e. Outer sheath shall be of tough, heat resistance PVC compound as per IS: 5831
and shall be extruded over the armouring. Cables shall be tested for type tests
and routine tests in accordance with IS: 7098 (Part II).

3.1.2 Termination Joints:


a. Terminal joints shall be carried out inside the cable end boxes fixed on the equipment. Cables
shall be pencilled with layers of black ampere tapes wrapped over the conductor and the
insulations then the entire joint shall be wrapped in layers of ampere tapes up to the terminals,
butted and lugged. Lugs shall be fitted by the means of bolts and nuts with the terminal studs.
On the glands, armour of the cable shall be fixed by means of clamps, which shall be
grounded. Heat shrink cable terminations kit shall be used for terminations.

3.1.3 Installation of Cables:


a) Cables in the HT Rooms of the Sub-Station shall be laid in trenches over 100mm minimum
soft sand cushioning. All cables shall be bent in radius not less than 15 times or as prescribed
by the manufacturer whichever is higher.

3.2 Jointing and Terminating Cables:


3.2.1 Joints and terminations shall comply with the following clauses as appropriate to the type of
cable. The NBCC/Client shall be informed where it is proposed to install joints that are not
indicated.
3.2.2 The NBCC/Client shall be given evidence that the joint or termination manufacturer has stated
the materials to be employed are suitable for the type of cable to be jointed or terminated.
3.2.3 Cable shall not be cut until the jointing or terminating commences and the work shall precede
continuity until it is completed. All necessary precautions shall be taken to prevent damage and
ingress of moisture and impurities; cable ends shall be free from moisture before jointing
commences. Where circumstances prevent, completion the cable ends shall sealed. In the case of
lead sheathed cables this shall be by plumbing and for aluminium sheathed cables by hermetically
sealing.
3.2.4 The Contractor shall employ for this work, staff that is fully qualified and competent for the types
of joints and terminations to be made.
3.2.5 Core identification shall be matched at each joint without twisting or crossing of the cores. Where
numbered cores are jointed to coloured all cable runs and on sites with existing installations
consistent with the system already in use.

3.2.6 For joints in armoured cables, a bonding conductor shall be connected across the
armouring. A spilt ferrule shall be placed under the armouring to prevent
deformation of the cable by the clamp.

3.2.7 At terminations, armouring and metal sheaths shall be connected directly to the
external earthing terminal of the equipment by a bonding conductor. For LV
cables the bonding conductor shall have a cross sectional area in accordance
with IEE wiring Regulations. Metal sheaths of single core cables shall be bonded
and earthed at one point only, as indicated; insulated glands shall be used at the
open-circuit end or ends.

3.2.8 At terminations, cable tails shall be formed by separating and bringing out the
long
cores. Each tail shall be to connect to the terminals of the
enough
equipment.

3.2.9 At the terminations of single core cables, gland plates shall comply with relevant
clause. For three phase circuits, the phase conductors shall be arranged, if
possible, in trefoil formation where they pass through the enclosure of
equipment.

3.2.10 Core identification at terminations shall be by coloured or numbered plastic


stretch or shrink ferrules.
3.2.11 Continuity of spare cores shall be maintained at joints and at terminations; the
cores shall be connected to spare terminals.

3.2.12 Solder shall be used only for connecting or terminating paper-insulated cables.
All other connections and terminations shall be by means of compression fittings
or mechanical clamps.

3.2.13 Compression connectors and associated dies for compression tools shall be of
correct type and size. Tools shall be so designed that the correct compression
must be applied before it can be released.

3.3 Sleeves, Tapes and Sealing Compounds:


3.3.1 Sleeves shall be of the shrink type applied cold by mechanical device or by the
use of heat, they shall provide a sufficient thickness of insulation to suit the
particular application.

3.3.2 Insulating tapes used in joints and terminations shall be compatible with and
have a temperature rating and insulating property not less than the cable
insulation. They shall be complying with BS 3925.

3.3.3 Impregnated cotton tapes shall be double selvedge.

3.3.4 All tapes shall be stored in sealed containers until required.

3.3.5 Resin filling should be, as far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risk
to health. Each pack shall include warnings as to any hazards in its use, e.g.
dramatic or toxic properties with details of precautions, which the user must
take to minimize these.

3.3.6 Hot pouring sealing compound shall be hard setting and comply with BS
1858:1973(1986). Selection of the compound shall take account of the ambient
temperature of installation as well as characteristics of the joint.

3.3.7 Care shall be taken to prevent voids occurring in consequence of too rapid
cooling.

10.3.8 Resin filling shall be used with PVC/XLPE type cables and hot poured compound
shall be used with paper insulated lead covered cables.

3.4 Cable Installation:


3.4.1 Unless the routes of cables are indicated on drawings, they shall be determined by the contractor
and approved by the NBCC/Client before work is started.
3.4.2 Cable installation on the surface shall be parallel with the lines of building construction and
properly aligned.
3.4.3 A minimum clearance of 150mm shall be allowed from any equipment, pipe work or duct work.
The distance shall be measured from external surface of any lagging.
3.4.4 In the event of difficulty in achieving these requirements, NBCC/Client shall be informed.
3.4.5 Spacing between cables shall comply with relevant table, but where indicated account must be
taken of any grouping necessary to maintain the current carrying capacities of cables.
3.4.6 Space shall be allowed along cables routes for future additions where indicated and cable
supports shall be of adequate size for the ultimate load.
3.4.7 Adequate space shall be left between cable runs, the building fabrics and other services to allow
for future removal or installation of cables.
3.4.8 Cables shall be adequately supported by one of the methods specified, throughout cable ducts or
are buried direct in the ground. Fixing direct to building fabric by cable cleats may be adopted for
single runs subject to the approval of NBCC/Client, and where indicated.
3.4.9 Cables shall be supported within 30mm of their termination at equipment; the weight of the cable
shall not be carried by the terminal box gland.
3.4.10 where cables cross expansion and settlement joints in the building structure, they shall be fixed
300 mm each side of the joint and sufficient slack left between to allow for movement. Where the
cables are buried in the building fabric suitable provision shall be made to allow for movement of
the structure. The contractor shall submit his proposals for approval of NBCC/Client.
3.5 Handling of cables:
3.5.1 Cables shall be handled with care and every effort made to avoid damage to the cables, to other
services and to building fabric. Recommendations or instructions available from the cable
manufacturers concerning the installation of cables shall be taken into account. In particular co-
axial cable shall not be bent in radius less than six times the overall diameter. Any damage shall
be reported immediately to NBCC/Client.

3.6 Marking of cables:


3.6.1 Cables located in switch rooms, ducts and spaces designated solely for electrical services or have

orange over sheaths, they shall be identified by adhesive bands coloured orange, complying with
BS 178. The bands shall not be less than 100 mm long, located at least once within each separate
compartment through which the cables pass at intervals not exceeding 12 m.
3.6.2 Except where cables are buried or enclosed in conduit, trunking or ducting, they shall be
permanently identified by discs. Discs shall be of laminated plastic materials with black
characters on white: characters shall be not less than 3 mm high. The inscription shall indicate
nominal voltage, designation of load, number and cross sectional area of cores and rated voltage
of cable.
3.6.3 Cable identification discs shall be attached to the cables with ties. Discs shall be located within
500 mm of terminations and joints, at least once within each separate compartment through which
cables pass and at intervals not exceeding 24 m, they shall coincide with the colour bands.

3.7 Laying Cables in Ground:


3.7.1 Cables shall be laid by skilled experienced workmen using adequate rollers to minimize
stretching of the cables. The cable drums shall be placed on jacks before unwinding the cable.
With great care it shall be unrolled on over wooden rollers placed in trenches at intervals not
exceeding 2 meters. Cables shall be laid at depth of 0.75 meters below ground level. A cushion of
sand total of 250mm shall be provided both above and below the cable, joint boxes and other
accessories. Cable shall not be laid in the same trench or alongside a water main.
3.7.2 The cable shall be laid in excavated trench over 80mm layer of sand cushion. The relative
position of the cables, laid in the same trench shall be preserved. At all changes in direction in
horizontal and vertical planes, the cables shall be bent smooth with a radius of bent not less than
12 times the diameter of cables. Minimum 3 meter long loop shall be provided at both end of
cable.

3.8 Laying in Pipes / Closed Ducts:


3.8.1 The size of the pipe shall be decided by the NBCC/Client and shall not be less than 10 cm, in
diameter for a single cable and not less than 15 cm for more than one cable. These pipes shall be
laid directly in ground without any special bed except for SW pipe which shall be laid over 10
cm, thick cement concrete 1:5:10 (1 cement: 5 coarse sand: 10 graded stone aggregate of 40 mm
nominal size) bed. No sand cushioning or tiles need be used in such situations. Unless otherwise
specified, the top surface of pipes shall be at a minimum depth of 1m from the ground level when
laid under roads, pavements etc.
3.8.2 Where steel pipes are employed for protection of single core cables feeding A.C.
load, the pipe should be large enough to contain both cables in the case of single
phase system and all cables in the case of poly phase system.

3.8.3 The pipes on road crossings shall preferably be on the skew to reduce the angle of
bend as the cable enters and leaves the crossing. This is particularly important for
high voltage cables.

3.8.4 Manholes of adequate size as decided by the NBCC/Client shall be provided to


facilitate feeding/drawing in of cables and to provide working space for persons.
They shall be covered by suitable manhole covers with frame of proper design.

3.8.5 Pipes shall be continuous and clear of debris or concrete before cable is drawn.
Sharp edges at ends shall be smoothened to prevent injury to cable insulation or
sheathing.

3.8.6 Pipe for cable entries to the building shall slope downwards from the building and
suitably sealed to prevent entry of water inside the building. Further the mouth of
the pipes at the building end shall be suitably sealed to avoid entry of water.

3.8.7 All chases and passages necessary for the laying of service cable connections to
buildings shall be cut as required and made good to the original finish and to the
satisfaction of the NBCC/Client.

3.8.8 Cable grips / draw wires and winches etc. may be employed for drawing cables
through pipes/closed ducts etc.

3.9 Laying in Open Ducts:


3.9.1 Open ducts with suitable removable covers shall be preferred in sub-stations, switch
rooms, plant rooms, workshops etc.
3.9.2 The cable ducts should be of suitable dimensions so that the cables can be
conveniently laid. If necessary, cables may be fixed with clamps on the walls of the
duct or taken in troughs in duct. The duct should be covered with removable slabs
or chequered plates.

3.9.3 Ducts may be filled with dry sand after the cable is laid and covered as above or
finished with cement plaster especially in high voltage applications.

3.9.4 Splices or joints of any type shall not be permitted inside the ducts.
3.9.5 As far as possible laying of cables with different voltage ratings in the same duct
shall be avoided.
3.9.6 Where considered necessary, hooks or racks shall be provided for supporting the
cables in masonry / concrete cable ducts, cable troughs. Otherwise cables shall be
laid direct in the trench or trough etc. While deciding the layout of cables in such
ducts, care should be exercised to ensure that unnecessary crossing of cables is
avoided.

1. Protection of Cables:
a. The cables shall be protected by bricks laid on the top layer of the sand for the full
length of underground cable. Where more than one cable is laid in the same
trench, the bricks shall cover all the cables and shall project a minimum of
approximately 80 mm on either side of the cables. Cable under road crossings and
any other GI places subject to heavy traffic shall be protected by running them
through Hume / GI Pipes of suitable size as specified.
b. All HT Cables used in building/Block of 11KV shall be XLPE armoured Type
Aluminium XLPE cable with FRLS, manufactured and tested in accordance
with IS: 7098(PART-1) & ISI MARKED.

4.0 LT POWER DISTRIBUTION CABLES:


4.1 LV cables:

4.1.1 Cables shall be PVC/XLPE insulated and shall be of 1100 volts grade or as specified and shall
have been manufactured confirming to BS 6346 and Indian Standard Specifications IS: 694 and
IS: 7098 (Part-1) as applicable. These shall be of approved types accepted by the Fire Insurance
Association of India for use in Industrial risks and to the following specifications. The contractor
shall submit the Manufacturer’s catalogues giving electrical characteristics of the cables.
4.1.2 The fire retardant low smoke (FRLS) cables shall be 1100V grade multi core having annealed
tinned copper wires, insulated with special polymeric material suitable to withstand 150 degree
for 30 minutes, cores laid up melinex taped, special low halogen and low smoke elastomeric
material inner sheathed black, armoured with

G.I. Wires/cast steel strips, melinex taped outer sheathed with special low halogen and low smoke
elastomeric material unless otherwise specified.

4.2 Multi-core cables:


4.2.1 These shall be as specified and small comprise of plain, circular, solid/ stranded Al conductors.
PVC insulated and having an inner sheath of PVC compound, galvanized flat steel tape or round
steel wire, armouring and PVC sheath overall and shall comply with IS:.1554-1988.

1. Flexible cables:
a. Twin flexible cables used for pendants and connections to other lighting fixtures shall have
cross-section area or should be of 0.001 sq. inch (equivalent to 23/0.0076) or larger and be
insulated in accordance with relevant IS specifications. The metric equivalent size for
23/0.0076 wherever mentioned may be noted as 23/0.20 mm. All wires and cable shall be of
FRLS type.

2. Jointing and Terminating Cables:


.a. Joints and terminations shall comply with the following clauses as appropriate to the type of
cable. The NBCC/Client shall be informed where it is proposed to install joints that are not indicated.
.b. The NBCC/Client shall be given evidence that the joint or termination manufacturer has stated

.k. Continuity of spare cores shall be maintained at joints and at terminations; the cores shall be
connected to spare terminals.
.l. Solder shall be used only for connecting or terminating paper-insulated cables. All other
connections and terminations shall be by means of compression fittings or mechanical clamps.
.m. Compression connectors and associated dies for compression tools shall be of correct type and
size. Tools shall be so designed that the correct compression must be applied before it can be released.

3. Cable Identification:
.a. For multi core cables, PVC ferrule type indicators or tags shall be provided at both ends for core
identification. For phase identification of 2/3/3.5/4 core cables, coloured PVC tapes shall be used at both
ends.
.b. All cables shall be provided with aluminium tags of approved design, spaced not less than 7.5
meters. Apart and these shall contain the following: Feeder No.

.h. Resin filling shall be used with PVC/ XLPE type cables and hot poured compound shall be used
with paper insulated lead covered cables.

5. Cable Supports:
.a. Unless otherwise indicated the type of cable supports used shall be selected by the Contractor to
suit the circumstances of the installation, but they shall comply with these specification and the following
preferences shall be taken into account: For Horizontal runs, Cable Tray For vertical runs Clabber Cleats,
Where marshalling of cables occurs e.g. at switchboards Cable Racks.
.b. Unless otherwise indicated all ferrous metal for cable tray, cable racks, and cable ladder, cable
hangers and their fixings and suspensions shall have a galvanized finish.
.c. For general use inside buildings the galvanised finish shall be a coating equivalent to and not less
than type G275 to BS 2989, but manufacturer’s standard finishes will be accepted for slotted angles. All
metal exposed during fabrication shall be given a coat of zinc-rich paint, brushed on or finished to match
the manufacturer’s finish.

.d. Metal cable tray shall be used unless otherwise indicated and it shall comply with these
specifications where cables are laid in the cable tray they shall be secured by ties, each tie securing the
cables of only one circuit. The ties shall be of a proprietary type not requiring screws or bolts for fixing
the use of wire or similar material will not be permitted. Ties shall be spaced at not greater than 600 mm
along each cable and within 100 mm of each bend or set.
.e. Where cable tray is installed in the veritable plane, cables shall be supported by cable cleats.
.f. Cable tray shall be fixed at regular intervals not exceeding 1200 mm and at 225 mm from bends
and intersections. A minimum clear space of 20 mm shall be left behind all cable trays

6. Cable cleats:
.a. Cable cleats shall be made from materials, which are resistant to corrosion without the need for
treatment of special finish.
.b. Cable cleats shall be of a size such that they can be tightened down to grip the cables without
exerting undue pressure or strain on them. For vertical cable two bolt cable cleats shall be used which
shall grip the cables firmly enough to prevent them slipping.
.c. The spacing of cable cleats shall comply with the IEEE Wiring Regulations. At bends in the
cable, cleats shall be located immediately on each side.

7. Cable Hangers:
a. Cable hangers shall be used only where indicated. They shall be made from mild steel flat bar
complying with these specifications.

8. Suspensions and Fixings:


.a. It is preferred that proprietary suspension systems comprising channel sections with return lips
and compatible fixing accessories or slotted angles should be used, Where necessary fixing may be
fabricated from mild steel flat bar. Metal arc welding shall comply with BS 5135.
.b. Unless otherwise indicated fixing to the building fabric shall comply with table below:

9. Bonding:
a. Supplementary bonding shall be installed between component parts of cable trays, racks or
ladders where the method of mechanical connection does not provide permanent and reliable
metal to metal joints of negligible impedance.

the same trench or alongside a water main.


.b. The cable shall be laid in excavated trench over 80mm layer of sand cushion. The relative
position of the cables, laid in the same trench shall be preserved. At all changes in direction in horizontal
and vertical planes, the cables shall be bent smooth with a radius of bent not less than 12 times the
diameter of cables. Minimum 3 meter long loop shall be provided at both end of cable.

14. Laying in Pipes / Closed Ducts :


a. The size of the pipe shall be decided by the NBCC/Client and shall not be less than 10 cm, in
diameter for a single cable and not less than 15 cm for more than one cable. These pipes shall
be laid directly in ground without any special bed except for SW pipe which shall be laid over
10 cm, thick cement concrete 1:5:10 (1 cement : 5 coarse sand: 10 graded stone aggregate of 40
mm nominal size) bed. No sand cushioning or tiles need be used in such situations. Unless
otherwise specified, the top surface of pipes shall be at a minimum depth of 1m from the
ground level when laid under roads, pavements etc.
.b. Where steel pipes are employed for protection of single core cables feeding A.C. load, the pipe
should be large enough to contain both cables in the case of single phase system and all cables in the case
of polyphase system.
.c. The pipes on road crossings shall preferably be on the skew to reduce the angle of bend as the
cable enters and leaves the crossing. This is particularly important for high voltage cables.
.d. Manholes of adequate size as decided by the NBCC/Client shall be provided to facilitate
feeding/drawing in of cables and to provide working space for persons. They shall be covered by suitable
manhole covers with frame of proper design.
.e. Pipes shall be continuous and clear of debris or concrete before cable is drawn. Sharp edges at
ends shall be smoothened to prevent injury to cable insulation or sheathing.
.f. Pipe for cable entries to the building shall slope downwards from the building and suitably sealed
to prevent entry of water inside the building. Further the mouth of the pipes at the building end shall be
suitably sealed to avoid entry of water.
.g. All chases and passages necessary for the laying of service cable connections to buildings shall be
cut as required and made good to the original finish and to the satisfaction of the NBCC/Client.
.h. Cable grips / draw wires and winches etc. may be employed for drawing cables through
pipes/closed ducts etc.

15. Laying in Open Ducts:


.a. Open ducts with suitable removable covers shall be preferred in sub-stations, switch rooms, plant
rooms, workshops etc.
.b. The cable ducts should be of suitable dimensions so that the cables can be conveniently laid. If
necessary, cables may be fixed with clamps on the walls of the duct or taken in troughs in duct. The duct
should be covered with removable slabs or chequered plates.
.c. Ducts may be filled with dry sand after the cable is laid and covered as above or finished with
cement plaster specially in high voltage applications.
.d. Splices or joints of any type shall not be permitted inside the ducts.
.e. As far as possible laying of cables with different voltage ratings in the same duct shall be
avoided.
.f. Where considered necessary, hooks or racks shall be provided for supporting the cables in
masonry / concrete cable ducts, cable troughs. Otherwise cables shall be laid direct in the trench or trough
etc. While deciding the layout of cables in such ducts, care should be exercised to ensure that unnecessary
crossing of cables is avoided.

16. Protection of Cables:

a. The cables shall be protected by bricks laid on the top layer of the sand for the full
length of underground cable. Where more than one cable is laid in the same
trench, the bricks shall cover all the cables and shall project a minimum of
approximately 80mm on either side of the cables. Cable under road crossings and
any other places subject to heavy traffic shall be protected by running them
through Hume Pipes of suitable size.
b. All LT used in building/Block of .433KV shall be Armoured aluminium XLPE
Cables with solid/stranded copper conductor with FRLS, XLPE insulated,
manufactured and tested in accordance with IS: 7098(PART-1) & ISI
MARKED.

1. 5.0 TEHCNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR DG SETS


2. 5.1 INTENT OF SPECIFICATION:

This specification covers the design, manufacture, assembly, shop testing, packing, dispatch,
transportation supply, erection, testing, commissioning, performance and guarantee testing of
Diesel Gen-Sets, complete in all respects with all equipment, fitting and accessories for efficient
and trouble free operation as specified here under.

5.2 SCOPE OF WORK:


5.2.1 Scope of Supply & Services:
General Scope of work shall include design, manufacture, shop testing, packing, dispatch,
transportation to site, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the following:
.a. Diesel engine complete with all accessories an Alternator directly coupled to the engine through
flexible/rigid coupling complete with all accessories for starting, regulation and control, including base
frame, foundation bolts etc. interconnecting piping and accessories, power and control cable glands and
lugs. Engine will have command and control through power command centre & equv.
.b. Diesel Local/Remote control panel, DG control panel, DG auxiliary panel including power
cables, control cables between bidders local equipment and special cables if any.
.c. Equipment necessary for engine cooling system, air coil cooler, coil cooler pumps, valves, inter
connecting pipes etc.
.d. Equipment necessary for fuel storing and distribution, buffer fuel tank with level switches, day oil
tank, piping, pumps, valves, level indicators etc.
.e. Flexible connections and residential type silencer of exhaust system, including thermal lagging
upto 30 mtrs. height.
.f. Batteries with wooden battery stand and battery charging equipment, including their connections
as necessary along with tools & accessories for battery maintenance.
.g. Anti Vibration Mountings etc.
.h. Preparing all related shop drawings for approval from NBCC/Client and statutory bodies for
water cooling system, exhaust system and synchronizing system with DG layout.
.i. Obtaining approval of the installation of Diesel Generators by the Electrical Inspectorate and
Pollution Control bodies and any other statutory bodies.
.j. Minor civil works like chasing, grouting etc. for execution of jobs.
.k. Carrying out performance and guarantee test including making arrangements for loads etc. as
required.
.l. 5 years warranty of Cylinder Head, Crankshaft, Cylinder Block, and Connecting Rod against
manufacturing defect & Labour charges for the repair/replacement covered.

5.6 OTHER ACCESSORIES:

M.S. Fabricated adequately machined base frame complete with lifting, facilities pre
drilled foundation holes suitable for permanent installation on foundation shall also
be supplied. The base frame shall be manufactured with steel and shall be stress
relieved. Manufacturer shall specify what measures are taken to reduce the
stresses.

iii) BATTERIES
For electrical control ckt of 24V D.C. of suitable ampere hour complete with battery
charger, leads and wooden base plate and shall be placed inside canopy.

5.7 FUEL SYSTEM:


a. The engine shall be capable of running on all types of diesel fuel oil normally
available in India.
b. The fuel consumption of the engine at full, three quarters and half of its rated power
output shall be indicated by the Contractor in the bid.
c. A fuel service buffer tank, common for two DG set with 990 litres capacity shall be
provided on a suitably fabricated steel platform. The tank shall be complete with
level indicator marked in litres, filling inlet with removable screen, an outlet, a drain
plug, an air vent and necessary piping. The fuel tank shall be painted with oil
resistant paint. Service tank level switches (2 Nos. per tank) for alarm & trip shall
also be provided by the bidder. All pipe joints should be brazed/welded.
d. A hand pump for pumping the fuel into the fuel service tank together with necessary
pipes or tubing shall be provided. The inlet of the pump shall be provided with 5
metres long armoured hose with suitable filter.

5.8 COOLING:
The diesel engine should be Air cooled with air cooled coil coolers system. The
cooling system should include temperature gauge with high temp., alarm/trip
corrosion resistor etc.

5.9 ENGINE GOVERNOR:


The governor shall be of ISO-Chronous type to maintain zero speed rate or

regulation and shall be Al type as per BS: 5514 in order to take care of heavy motor
starting. It shall have necessary characteristics to maintain the speed substantially
constant even with sudden variation in load. However, a tripping shall be provided if
speed exceeds maximum permissible limit. The governor shall be suitable for
operation without external power supply.

5.10 TURBO CHARGER:


It shall be of a robust construction, suitable of being driven by engine exhaust
having a common shaft for the turbine and blower. It shall draw air from filter of
adequate capacity to suit the requirements of the engine.

5.11 STARTER BATTERY:


.a. The battery shall conform to the requirement of IS:1651. Starting battery sets of 24 V, heavy duty
high performance approved make/quality shall be provided to enable crank & start the engine even in
cold/winter morning conditions. Type/voltage/AH capacity of same on 20 hour rated discharge period
shall be indicated in the offer. The battery shall be capable of performing at least (6) six normal starts
without recharging.
.b. The battery shall be provided with good quality teakwood stand painted with acid proof black
paint with min 3mm thick rubber mat below the battery.
.c. Batteries shall be of load container type only and not with PVC moulded sealed container so that
each individual cells are available for individual monitoring during its life span. Each cell shall be
provided with electrolyte filling cap with level floats for easy monitoring of electrolytic level.
.d. For each battery system following accessories shall be provided:
.a. PVC Funnel -1 No.
.b. Small PVC mugs with handle -2 Nos.
.c. Hydrometer syringe type with float calibrated (not with zero markings only) with one spare float.
.d. Centre zero voltmeter good quality with 3V-0-3V scale.
.e. PVC Jerry-can white colour with tested quality distilled water, with can clearly marked with
engraved PVC inscription plate “Distilled Water”.
.f. One tin of petroleum jelly (500 gm)
.g. Painter brush 1” wide-Nos.
.h. The battery shall be provided with 2 Nos. cables, minimum 1.5m long heavy duty rubber/PVC
insulated cabling with brazed tinned lug at one end and with brazed tinned brass terminal lug at battery
end -for connecting batteries to cranking system -with 0.25 m long inter battery connecting cable.
.i. The lugs shall be clearly stamped (+) or (-) and positive cable also red sleeved for easy
identification.
.j. The batteries shall be supplied fully filled and first charged ready to use.

5.12 ENGINE SAFE GUARDS:

Safeguards shall be provided and arranged when necessary to stop the engine automatically by
the following:
.a. Energising a solenoid coupled to the stop lever on the fuel injection pump rack.
.b. De-energising the “fuel on” solenoid
.c. Energising the “fuel -cut off” solenoid.
.d. If any of the door opens.

The operation of the safeguard shall at the same time give individual warning of the failure by
illuminating an appropriate local visual indicator and remote alarm at generator panel.

The contactors, relays and other devices necessary for signal and control, for above purposes shall
be provided at Generator panel.

At the set at a easily accessible place an “EMERGENCY STOP” mushroom head stay put type
P.B shall provided to stop the set in emergency mode.

The safe guard to “STOP THE SET” shall stop the set irrespective of mode selection of the set
viz Auto, Manual or test for following cases, with simultaneous isolation of alternator ckt.
.a. Emergency stop P.B’s operation

.c. Low lube oil pressure.
.d. Earth fault or restricted earth fault or differential faults of Alternator.

6. EXTERNAL LIGHTING:-
Minimum 20 no’s flange mounted hot dip Galvanized Poles of 4 Metre. height made from
3mm thick HT Steel plate, complete with window with flash cover at a height of 0.5 Metre. from
the base for cable termination block etc. and galvanized base plate of size 220mm x 220mm x
12mm thick on existing cement concrete pedestal as required as per specifications i/c supplying
and fixing of the following in the window box provided for cable termination.

Supplying and fixing 6mm thick laminated mounted sheet inside the window mounted on and i/c
providing and welding 3 nos. G.I. strips 4mm thick of suitable length and having suitable size
tapped holes -10 nos. as required.

Supplying and fixing of 63 Amp terminal blocks suitable for 25 Sq.mm conductor -4 nos. and
fixing DIN channel of suitable length -2 Nos. on the existing laminated sheet with 6A MCB and
cable.

* Each Street Light pole shall have maximum 15-20 meter distance as per electrical layout plan
and approved by NBCC/Client.

* Minimum 20 no’s 4 Meter Pole with 23W CFL Post Top lantern light fixture with Suitable
Rating and all accessories with as approved by NBCC/Client.

* 26W CFL Bollard will be proposed in some areas as per architectural Plan.

ALUMINIUM RISING MAIN’S: the Following Specifications/Items to be provided for Rising


Mains.

a. Wall/Suspension on ceiling, testing and commissioning of Appropriate capacity Sandwich Type


Aluminium Rising Main for use on 3 phase 4 wire 415 volts, 50Hz
A.C. supply with metal clad enclosure made of 1.6mm thick steel sheet duly powder coated in
convenient sections complete with 4 Nos. Copper bus bars, necessary joints, elbow joints & expansion
joints, fire barrier at each floor, provision of tapping at every metre, adopter box and copper flexible for
joints, continuous earthing with 2 Nos. Copper strip of suitable size (one on each side) including CU

UPS SYSTEM: The Following Specifications/Items to be provide for UPS System

a. UPS On line double conversion (VFI) Appropriate KVA Modular UPS ( Three Phase Input
– Three Phase Output ) ,Nominal Power: Appropriate KVA Power Factor : Unity. Topology:
On Line Double Conversion VFI, Technology: Hi frequency PWM, Passing through Neutral,
Modular Architecture based on 6.7kVA Power Modules, Possibility to configure the system in
N+1 internal redundancy in the inverter cabinet, Possibility to remove and replace power and
battery modules without switch the load on bypass, Equipped with batteries type: lead acid,
sealed, free maintenance, VRLA, installed into the system or in a dedicated external battery
cabinets. Batteries must guarantee a minimum back up time of 15 Minutes with Common
battery bank.
The UPS must be configurable as N+X power redundant system, with modules of 6.7kVA
contained in same cabinet for three phase run. This kind of redundancy must guarantee
continuous supply and protection whenever one module fails. Redundancy must be obtained
through the load sharing technology.

b. UPS Input/output Panel Input/output panel for Appropriate KVA Online UPS,BUS BAR-
Appropriate Amp 3Phase 4Wire 415Volt 50KA, 50Hz Aluminium BUS BAR, Appropriate Amp

FIRE ALARM SYSTEM: The Following Specifications/Items to be provide for Fire Alarm
System
a. Fire Alarm Panel
Networkable Appropriate Loop Micro processor based fire alarm panel, 2 wire fault tolerant loop
with optional network module, each loop shall have the capability of connecting minimum 126
devices. The fire alarm control panel shall have built in degrade mode function. The panel should
have inbuilt TCP/IP communication for Panel Program and Remote Monitoring option through
LAN or WAN communication. The panel shall be able to give location of all fire and More Fire
/fault and Isolation conditions of addressable units via the address codes. The panel shall have the
capacity of storing upto 2000 events. Further, the panel must be able to automatically switch ON
/OFF respective control module when ever any alarm is triggered. The panel should have inbuilt
common Alarm, Fault and monitored sounder output. The panel shall have a 8x40 characters
LCD display with resolution of Appropriate pixels, and analog output with optional inbuilt /
external printer to log all fire or fault events complete in all respects. The Panel should have
protection category of IP30. Also the panel should have the option to operate in manned and
unmanned mode. The Panel shall have the option of 24/48/96 Zones with Individual LED
Indicators or within the Loop mimic driver for 96 LED indicators. The panel shall have built in
power supply and battery charger along with maintenance free Appropriate AH, Appropriate volt
SMF Lead acid batteries capable of running for a minimum of 24 hours with battery charger
complete as required and as per specifications and duly Approved by EN54/LPCB/VDS/FM.

*1 no’s Main Fire Control Panel located at Fire Control Room on ground floor.
b. Repeater Panel
Analog Addressable type Active Loop Repeater (Loop power/external power) Fire terminal with
inbuilt turbo isolator, Backlit LCD Display 6x40 characters display, having Controls For Reset,
Mute, Accept , Silence alarms and Self Test, with programmable free keys and Duly Approved by
EN54/LPCB/VDS/FM

angle. Detector shall communicate 3 danger levels for differentiated alarm activation and high
tolerance to dust,dirt, temperature fluctuations and air currents. Detector should have unque
address for communication and assigned through panel with Mounting Base as required with the

e. Heat Detector (Static + ROR)


Intelligent Analog Addressable Heat Detector (Static + ROR) with inbuilt turbo Isolator and
integral response indicator with 360 degree viewing angle. Detector shall communicate 3 danger
levels for differentiated alarm activation. Detector should have unique address for communication
and assigned through panel with Mounting Base as required with the protection category of IP40
and Duly Approved by EN54/LPCB/VDS/FM.
* To be provided toilets & Pantries.
f. Manual call point Intelligent Addressable Manual call point with inbuilt turbo Isolator suitable for
flush or surface mounting, call point shall include test key feature without removing the glass.
Also should have protection category of IP44 and extra accessories as required, duly approved by
EN54/LPCB/VDS/FM.
* Manual Call point shall used in each floor near stair cases.
g. Loop powered sounder
Intelligent addressable loop powered sounder cum beacon with base, inbuilt turbo Isolator, able to
provide an o/p of 99dBA at 1m, peak light o/p of at least 3.2cd and shall have 11 programmable
tones, 3 volume settings selectable from the panel and fully synchronized with other sounders and
shall have the ability to switch between one tone for alert and one tone for evacuation. Shall have
protection category of IP42 and duly approved by EN54/LPCB/VDS/FM.

* Manual Call point shall used in each floor near stair cases.
h. Addressable Input & Input/output module Addressable input/output module with inbuilt isolator
and shall have the LED indication for Normal, Fault, test, and activation. The module shall have
the option for configuration as fail safe operation and duly approved by EN54/LPCB/VDS/FM.

i. Fire Survival Low Smoke Armoured cable 2 twisted pair x 1.5 mm, Multistranded AT Copper,
