English- CAMP (Capacity-building And Making of Poetry)

Narrative Report

As a language teacher, developing the writing skill of students is also a top priority.
Writing is way of expressing ones thoughts or feelings. That is why E-CAMP activity was
conceptualized. In this activity the students of Sambre High School were given a chance to
explore the beauty of poetry and poetry writing. They were also exposed to outdoor activities
that aimed to enable them to gain self-confidence and work efficiently in a team.

The pre-activity was indeed exciting. The English Club officers lead the setting up of
tents around the activity area. They were also the ones who prepared the hall, the materials to
be used, and the decoration of stage. Some of them were assigned to prepare the foods with
the supervision of the assigned teacher.

A resource speaker was invited to give an interactive inputs on how to write a poem.
Students themselves were asked to write their own poem. Though the hall was quite congested
due to the number of attendees, the speaker was able to mange the smooth flow of the session
on poetry writing.

The organizers also invited a team-building facilitator who gave exciting and fun-filled
outdoor activities during the second part of the activity. Students were engaged in different
team effort activities which enabled them to learn the value of working harmoniously with
others.

The night culminated with a campfire, wherein students were given a chance to read
their own output during the poetry making session. Some teachers also participated during the
poetry reading activity.

It was indeed a memorable activity for the students of SHS.
