Reflection Paper

After I watched the video clip about Teddy Stallard story. I taught
myself that as a future teacher someday of my students, I would most
likely have acted like the new Mrs. Thomspon. The video taught me that
treat your student as same as the other students even if the student had
struggle at home like family problems and you should give that student
some attention and opportunities to help him/her to learn and teach them
what you want to imply them so they can succeed in the next years of
their studying. As shown in the story, the teacher also realized that being
a teacher doesn’t have to teach them or being strict as long as you like
and take time to catch up your students especially one of them has a
personal problem at home or in school. Her teaching profession gave an
impact after she realized that not of her students are same problem as
Teddy, the one who motivated her to teach not just the lesson but act
also as a second family to him after Teddy’s mother died on an illness.
The story gave me also a realization as a DTS student, while we’re on the
process of observing and learning about child development, we should
know our students very well and treat them also as your second family so
we can help them at school and they can feel comfortable while you are
handling them. Being a teacher is not hard or easy to handle your student
but to approach them as one of your member of the family and guide
them so we can see our students soon or later that they are successful
just like what Mrs. Thompson did to Teddy then many years later he saw
Teddy as a successful man and he didn’t forget Mrs. Thompson as her
second mother and Mrs. Thompson thanking him for coming to her life
and realize how does it take to be a good teacher to her students.
