1) Linux provides a secure network services. Give a detailed view on that.

Ans: Linux provides secure network due to these features:

1. Web Server: Linux allows you to quickly create virtual webhosts, running as many sites
as you need off of a single server. Whether your site needs scripting capabilities, a database
backend, or Secure SSL capabilities, EnGarde can provide an easy setup and management
platform.

2.Mail Server linux provides powerful tools for creating and managing multiple email
domains on a single server. It's powerful open source email processing capabilities and built
in secure IMAP and POP servers can handle even the heaviest of email processing needs.

3.Web Server and Email Aliasing It manage and organize corporate websites and email
communications quickly and easily. EnGarde's web server aliasing component allows
administrators to create thousands of virtual websites to distinctly display and organize all
business-critical information from a single IP address.

4.Firewall System A firewall is an essential part of any Internet presence Secure Linux
provides a secure foundation and powerful tools to build a high performance packet filtering
firewall for any size network.

5.Database Support The included database server provides a true multi-user, multi-threaded
database server enabling users and applications to create robust interactive websites and
powerful e-commerce storefronts.

6.Data Loss Protection:It protect against data loss with the integrated and versatile data
backup and recovery solution.

7.Built-in Support & Alerts: It receive instant notification of security events, proactive
software updates, and download new products and features using the Guardian Digital Secure
Network servicean also it reduce support costs and protect your investment.

8.Comprehensive Auditing System:This system provide detailed system and access logs
enable administrators to determine who is using the system and provide accountability for
potentially unauthorized activity. Auditing System provides real-time log analysis, statistical
and diagnostic information, and more.

2)Explain the architecture with working for FAT and NTFS.

Ans: FAT architecture:

During format and setup of a volume file system on a hard disk, a master boot record (MBR)
is created. The MBR contains a small amount of executable code called the master boot code
as well as a partition table for the disk. When a volume is mounted, the MBR executes the
master boot code and transfers control to the boot sector on the disk, allowing the server to
start the operating system on the file system of that specific volume.

NTFS Architecture:

NTFS architecture and an explanation of how NTFS uses certain key file system structures to
store information:

1.Every file in an NTFS partition is a collection of attributes this even includes the data that
the file contains, which is just considered one of many attributes. Other attributes include
items such as the file's name and size. This arrangement really a database-like setup--the
operating system view files as being objects with various characteristics, and manages them
accordingly. This makes it easy to manage files and add attributes if needed in the future.
2. NTFS stores all files (including metadata files) using a cluster system--each file is broken
into clusters, each of which contain a binary number of 512-byte sectors.

3.Study out the basic differences between the four versions of Windows Server 2003

4) Find out and make use of all the Command Line Utilities available in Win2k3, make sure
that they are commands to be used over the network.
Answer: various commands are command line utilities:

Pushd\\computername\sharename

Dir\\computername\share name

Dir\\computername\sharename\subdirectory_of_sharename

Copy\\computername\sharename\filename c:\my documents

Del\\computername\sharename\filename

5) What various roles active directory could provide to your system. Illustrate all and
explaining any one role out of them.

Ans: An active directory is a directory structure used on Microsoft Windows based computers and
servers to store information and data about networks and domains.

An active directory (sometimes referred to as an AD) does a variety of functions including

the ability to provide information on objects, helps organize these objects for easy retrieval
and access, allows access by end users and administrators and allows the administrator to set
security up for the directory.

Without an active directory, most end users would have computers that would need to be
updated individually and would not have access to a larger network where data can be
processed and reports can be created. While active directories can be technical to a good
extent and require considerable expertise to navigate, they are essential to storing information
and data on networks.

6) Try to install windows server 2003 data center edition and then document the whole
installation procedure.
Ans:Installation procedure of window server 2003:

Datacenter Edition must run only on systems specified in the Microsoft Hardware

Firstly to check hardware Compatibility List (HCL).
