ACTIVITY 1
1. The fundamental concerns in terms of curriculum standards that need to be
addressed in order to ensure learning continuity are as follows:
a. Commitment and engagement of learners by studying
himself/herself through Self-Learning Modules. I think it might
compromise the attainment of the aims and goals of the curriculum if they
do not take it seriously, or if they will not ne guided by their parents at
home.
b. Commitment and support of parents. Since learners are studying at
home, 100% of parent’s guidance is very much encouraged. Their role
while their child is studying at home is very much needed in today’s
learning set up. They need to make it sure that their child is doing their
tasks.
c. Available resources. Since all sectors are gravely affected by the health
crisis, resources needed in the implementation of the curriculum is also
affected in terms of sufficiency and availability.
These concerns cannot be solved by the teachers alone. The strong support
coming from all sectors are really needed and important in order to ensure
delivery of quality basic education services.
All sectors must hold their hands together to surpass all the challenges
brought by global pandemic.

2. I agree with that statement of Andaya. The congested curriculum has been a
perennial problem of teachers that is also regarded as one the hindering
factors of student’s poor performance. Why? There are too many learning
targets to be developed but limited in time allotment, or the curriculum is too
broad and impossible to achieve in a short span of time, and teachers were
forced to just finish the target jobs without knowing or determining if the
student learned or not due to the required number of days or time assigned
to each learning targets following the prescribed time allotment reflected on
the budget of work.
