Final Year Project Proposal-1

Project Title :
Smart Traffic System
Supervisor :
Mr. Rahmot Ullah (Senior Lecturer, Department of EEE)
Mentor :
Mr. Kazi Wohiduzzaman (Assistant Professor & Head, Department
of EEE)

Abstract :
Our main goal is to identify vehicles with long range RFID tag. Also
identify emergency vehicles like Ambulance, School bus etc. and
trigger traffic signal with the help of micro controller. Also we will
use a GPS and WIFI module for sending information to security
office. If RFID failed to recognise vehicles, we will use and backup
induction loop or a IR sensor to count cars which will also help us
to control traffic signal with the help of microcontroller.

Equipment :
 Arduino
 RFID Transmitter
 RFID Tag
 Traffic Light
 IR Sensor
 Antenna

Project Title:
Underground Cable Fault Distance Locator
Supervisor:
Mr. Rahmot Ullah (Senior Lecturer, Department of EEE)
Mentor:
Mr. Kazi Wohiduzzaman(Assistant Professor & Head, Department of
EEE)
Abstract:
This project introduces an underground fault location model of
cable using Arduino and GSM (Global system for mobile
communication) module, used for remote indication to diminish
power outages and heavy loss of profit by sending SMS to main
control room so the field engineer can resolve the issue of an
exact fault location. In underground system, occurrence of fault
is rare and is difficult to locate the exact position of fault to
overcome this problem, we came up with the idea presented in
paper. The main aim is to diagnose the open circuit and three
phase short circuit faults distance from base-station in
kilometres. This prototype is congregated with a set of resistors
showing length of cable in kilometres and a set of switches are
used to create fault at every known kilometre to determine the
exactness and results regarding fault readings, is displayed on a
LCD connected with the Arduino UNO board. Further NI Multisim
software is used to simulate the fault. This project is beneficial in
reducing the cost, production losses by saving the time and
efforts for sectionalisation of faults and improving the power
availability to consumers through an enhancement of overall
efficiency of power nets.
Equipments:
 Microcontroller (ATMEGA 328P) 1 piece
 Battery (12V) 1 piece
 LCD (16x2) 1 piece
 Resistors (470 ohm, 100 ohm, 47 ohm, 220 ohm, 330 ohm)
1 piece each
 Variable Resistor (10 ohm) 1 piece
 Relay (5V) 3 piece

Project Title :
Prepaid Energy Meter using GSM and Arduino
Supervisor :
Mr. Rahmot Ullah (Senior Lecturer, Department of EEE)
Mentor :
Mr. Kazi Wohiduzzaman (Assistant Professor & Head, Department of
EEE)

Abstract:
Prepaid Electricity Energy Meter is a good concept in which we can recharge its balance, like
we do in our mobile phones. In this project we are building a automated system by using Arduino
and GSM module. We can recharge the electricity balance through this system, just by sending a
SMS. It can also disconnect the home power supply connection, if there is low or zero balance in
the system. And this system will reads the energy meter readings and automatically send some
updates to user’s mobile phone like low balance alert, cut off alert, resume alert and recharge alert.

Equipment :
 Arduino
 GSM Module
 16x2 LCD
 Analogue Electricity Energy Meter
 Optocoupler 4n35
 Resistors
 POT
 Connecting wires
 Bulb and holder
 SIM card
 Power supply
 Mobile Phone

Project Title :
Wireless Charger Using Solar Panel
Supervisor :
Mr. Rahmot Ullah (Senior Lecturer, Department of EEE)
Mentor :
Mr. Kazi Wohiduzzaman (Assistant Professor & Head, Department of
EEE)

Abstract :
This project deals with wireless power transmission technology.
A battery of an electronic device will be charged wirelessly. The
solar panel converts the sun light into electrical energy. Power
from a solar panel is sent through a transmitter circuit and
received by a receiver circuit wirelessly based on Faraday's law
of induction. There are a transmitter and receiver coil. The
transmitter coil is driven at the same frequency of the resonant
frequency of the receiver coil. With the help of wireless battery
charger technology, power can be supplied to the electric cars,
drones, hospital's equipment, and smartphones. This device
also helps to reduce the necessity of using wires.
Equipment :
 Solar Panel 12 Volt, 300 ma, 1watt
 Chargeable Battery 12 Volt, 1.5Ah
 Capacitor, C: 6.8 nF
 Radio Frequency Chock, L1: 8.6 micro Hz
 Radio Frequency Chock, L2: 8.6 micro Hz
