Module 1- Data Preparation Using Tableau Prep

Problem Statement:

You have been hired by a Book Publishing house. The data provided by the
management is in a raw format. Using Tableau’s data preparation tool, prepare the
data for the management to analyse. The following are a few things the
management demands: -
1. Connect to data “Feb 07-18” from the dataset and Drag the Non-fiction
Table. In this table, we have an unnecessary column for Rank named as Rank
Duplicate. In the Input Step, remove this column alone.

2. The Info field contains a lot of information such as Name of the book, Name
of the author, Price and ISBN code. The management wants you to clean this
field in a way that all this information turns into separate columns. Rename
them and remove the remaining unnecessary fields as well.

3. Remove all the punctuations and letters from the ISBN code and make sure
its data type is still a string.

4. Change the datatype of the Price Column from String to Float.

5. Similar to Info field, another field, “Last Week/Weeks on List” also holds
multiple information in a single column. Split this column into two separate
columns “Rank Last week” and “weeks on List”. Remove the unnecessary
field(s).

6. Connect to Fiction Table and apply the following edits: -

a. Create a Union for Fiction and Non-fiction

b. Apply the same edits on Fiction table as well

7. Finally, export a CSV for this data and also save its flow in .tflx format.
