What happens when a push
or pull force is applied?
When a push or pull force is applied to an object, it moves or
changes shape.

WITH THE CLASS
Group Activity Push Pull

1. Take turns playing with each toy or

object
2. As a group decide if the objects/toy
can be pushed, pulled or both.
3. Place the object/toy within the push,
pull or both sections of the hula
hoops.

Some questions students may discuss:

1. What made the toy move?
2. Why did the toy stop moving?
3. Was the toy a push or pull toy?
4. What other push or pull toys can
Both
you think of?
Why did the object come
to a stop?

Friction is an opposite force that goes against the force applied. Moving objects
slow down because the force of friction pushes against the object and it comes to
a stop.
EXTENSION -
GRAVITY
Gravity is the force that pulls the toy towards the
ground. The steeper the slope the faster the toy will
move down.
