Ciprofloxacin:
Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat several bacterial infections.
This includes bone and joint infections, intra abdominal infections,
certain type of infectious diarrhea, respiratory tract infections, skin
infections, typhoid fever, and urinary tract infections, among others.
SIDE EFFECTS.
rash
hives
itching
tingling
swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or
lower legs
difficulty breathing or swallowing
hoarseness
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
diarrhea from an infection with Clostridium difficile bacteria.
diabetes.
low blood sugar.
glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
low amount of magnesium in the blood.
low amount of potassium in the blood.
a low seizure threshold.
pseudotumor cerebri
GATIFLOXACIN:
Gatifloxacin is an antibiotic of the fourth-generation fluoroquinolone
family, that like other members of that family, inhibits the bacterial
enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.
SIDE EFFECTS:
red, irritated, itchy, or teary eyes
blurred vision
eye pain
eye discharge
swollen eyelids
broken blood vessels in the eyes
headache
unpleasant taste
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Fungal infection. Prolonged use of gatifloxacin ophthalmic
preparations may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms.
Quinolone hypersensitivity.
Pregnancy.
Breast-feeding.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATIONS:
Gatifloxacin is for topical ophthalmic use only.
USES:
Gatifloxacin ophthalmic solution is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis
(pinkeye; infection of the membrane that covers the outside of the
eyeballs and the inside of the eyelids) in adults and children 1 year of
age and older.
