July 22 Academic Registration for Returning Students
GENERAL INFORMATION
Every student is required to file an application for admission and have a letter of acceptance from the Admissions Office.
The University reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient registration and to alter the time schedule.
Courses numbered 101 to 199 are offered for students in their freshman year; those numbered 201 to 299 for the sophomore year;
those numbered 301 to 399 for the junior year; and those numbered 401 to 499 for the senior year.
Although late registration is permitted, the course load is reduced one credit for every week or fraction thereof missed. Any student
who fails to register during the regularly scheduled registration period is charged a late registration service fee as outlined in the
Manual of Charges provided by the Business Office.
Careful planning in course selection results in few, if any, registration changes. Advisors are available for counsel; nevertheless, the
student is held responsible for an acquaintance with the requirements as stated in the Bulletin.
ADVISORS
While students may feel free to seek counsel from staff members at all times, it is to the students’ advantage at the time of registration
to receive special assistance in matters of curriculum requirements and defining the general outline of a good academic program.
While planning his or her program, the student is assigned an academic advisor who is available for consultation.
PRE-REQUISITES
Some degrees and classes require pre-requisites. Pre-requisites are listed with course descriptions in the University’s Bulletin.
Students will be required to withdraw from classes for which they have not met the pre-requisites.
CHAPEL/ASSEMBLY
Chapel/Assembly is held on Mondays at 3:05 - 4:20 p.m. and 5:35-6:10 p.m., in the Auditorium. Attendance is required of all
students. Absences that are excusable must be submitted to the Vice President for Student Development and Services within a week
after the absence occurs.
ATTENDANCE REGULATIONS
Students are required to attend all scheduled classes and laboratories.
Students must sign the daily attendance records provided by lecturers.
Any irregularity of attendance may result in lowering a student’s course grade.
Neither absence nor leave of absence relieves the student from responsibility for the required work in class or laboratory.
Three tardiness are counted as one absence
The instructor applies the above regulation and determines the final grade.
COURSE LOAD
Correspondence courses or work being done towards the removal of an incomplete are considered in calculating the total study load.
Non-credit courses are counted at full value of the student’s load. A student’s course load will be governed by his financial status and
his work program. The following guidelines are recommended for working students.
COURSE LOAD WORK LOAD
1 - 11 credits 20-30 hours per week
12 - 16 credits 16-20 hours per week
Students with poor performance in work or study will be asked to re-adjust their schedule or to withdraw from the university.
Students on academic probation for the first time may not register for more than twelve (12) credits. Those on academic probation for
two consecutive semesters will have their loads further reduced to eight (8) credits. Those on academic probation for three (3)
consecutive semesters will be asked to withdraw from the university for one academic year. Foreign students may not register for less
6
than 12 credits without the permission of the Vice President for Student Development and Services. Students are permitted to
register for a maximum of twelve (12) credits only in the Third Semester/Summer.
COURSE OVERLOAD
Students with good performance in study may be allowed to a take extra credits with the approval from the School Deans, according
to the following guidelines.
Overall GPA Course Load
3.00 - 3.49 17 credits
3.50 - 3.89 18 credits
3.90 - 4.00 19 credits
Before a student can register for an overload he/she should collect an Overload Form from the Registrar’s Office and obtain all the
necessary approval. Students will not be allowed to do an overload if they do not have the required GPA. For the Third Semester,
students may register for a maximum of 12 credits only.
CLASS CONFLICTS
Students should not be advised to register for two classes, which convene at the same time.
ADMISSION TO CLASSES
No student will be admitted to a class without evidence of being properly registered for that class.
INDEPENDENT STUDY
All pre-designated “independent study” courses must be properly registered for making use of the special card obtainable at the
Registrar’s Office.
