ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to those
who helped me to prepare this report. Without their
kind support it would be impossible to complete this
report .
I would like to thank to Mr. Surya Bhattarai for
assigning report writing which turned out to such an
wonderful experience. I am also thankful to the
resources persons for their strongly participated and
briefing in my trip to chitwan.

Introduction
Chitwan National park, one of the first of its kind in
Nepal is home to one of the rarest species of the world
like one-horned rhino, gharial etc. It is located in
central inner terai and occupies parts of Makwanpur,
Chitwan , Parsa district. The park was officially
established in 1973 A.D. and due to its unique
ecosystem it was declared world heritage site in 1984
A.D by UNESCO.

Objectives

- as educational visit
- to know the present status of the park
- to learn about existing flora and fauna
- to experience the recreational activities
- to explore its natural beauties
- to improve the knowledge about national park

Methodology
Primary
After 4 hour long drive by bus from Kathmandu, we
reached to chitwan bus park and again 2 hour drive
tool us to the park. Before entering the park we carried
our own formal Q's and A's with the local people.
Among the local people was Kashi Ram Chaudhary
who was 78 yrs old told that the park was a famous
hunting ground for the then king Mahendra. he also
told that even foreign diplomats too were attracted to
the park.
Secondary
After the conversation with Mr. Kashi Ram Chaudhary
we headed to the CNP office and took entry ticket and
with the help of fellow guide Mr. Mukunda Sharma
we carried our visit. After spending more than couple
of hours we visited Elephant breeding centre and
Gharial breeding centre where we got an opportunity
to interact with the majestic creatures. We read
different manuals, articles, booklets about the place.

Finding

- both domestic and international tourists visited the


park in large no.
- wild animals and birds were hunted illegally
- Narayani river due to riverside resorts and lodge
was polluted
- clash of local people and park officials due to land
encroachment issue
- habitat loss for the animals
- lack of communication and visitor information
centre in the park

Recommendation
- the park should be more feasible to international
tourists
- border security as strict as possible for minimizing
illegal activities
- management and improvement of water ecosystem
as it is home many water dependent plants and
animals
- conduction of public awareness in regular basis
- involvement of local youths and women in park
management
- conduction of nearby resorts and lodge on a eco-
friendly manner
- establishment of information centre and
communication tower

Conclusion

In order for the park to be maintained wisely the
above mentioned recommendation has to kept in mind.
Although some issues the park is worth re-visiting due
to its natural and cultural beauty.
