12 – Resilience
Lesson/Topic: The Early Church/The Clergy and Laity

Comeback

From the lesson “The Early Church” I learned a lot of new things such as the early
church was just a bunch of people grouped together who worshiped God together and helped one
another. But the topic that struck me the most was the reason why the clergy moved away to
avoid persecution; the reason was “The world rejected them so they rejected the world”. That
short, simple phrase made me reflect on how I should face the different challenges that comes
into my life and it made me realize everything that I’m doing especially how I react to God’s
challenge for me is actually wrong, there’s a better way for me to react towards everything that is
happening around me.
Instead of complaining, ranting, and especially stressing out, why not ignore all of them
and talk to God? Ask for his guidance and help? I tend to forget that I have a God whenever I get
stressed out that’s why I easily give up but when I remember that God is with me, everything
would eventually get better in a matter of seconds. That’s how powerful God is when we include
him with our plans; even in hardships, God is always there and he is bigger than all of our
problems combined. We grow better when God is in our hearts and when God is a part of our
life. These kinds of topics make me remember all of my hardships, all of my sufferings, and
sacrifices before when I did not include God with my plans.
An example of this was back in my grade 9 days, I was a part of a section where I could
only trust a few people to help me with school works or activities such as group projects. I once
blamed God why he placed me in that situation where in fact I kept on asking and praying him to
provide me classmates that are easy to be with and that’s when I turned my back against him;
every group project was a chaos since I would always be the one to execute and create the output
required for a specific subject. But when I was desperate for help, I ignored everything around
me and talked to God, I started praying every day before going to school and always ask for his
guidance, since then everything became so light to do, I would always be grouped with people
whom I can trust and would actually help me.
Since then I included God with all of my plans and he never failed to help me with
everything. It doesn’t matter how long you turn your back against God as long as you would
come back to him; He is always ready to accept you and forgive you no matter how much you
sinned against him.
