CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION
Nowadays, handling of students in big schools are difficult, if there is no centralized
records of the students specially in the guidance office, in our generation the use of
technology is important, because some of us relies on the technology, as it makes the
job become easier and faster. And also it consume less time.

The Guidance Office purpose is to deliver high quality service to students, potential
students and staff in an accessible, user-friendly way with a single point of contact. It
emphasizes providing comprehensive, student-focused service, and ensuring that each
student’s experience of student administration and support is positive and effective.

They provide a assistance to all the students with their social, mental, emotional and
intellectual growth. And maintaining confidentiality at all times the counseling will
collaboratively with the principal, teachers, parents, and students regarding the wellbeing
of the students.

Project Context
The PEDRO GUEVARA MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL, formerly LAGUNA HIGH
SCHOOL, was established by virtue of the law on March 7, 1902 of the insular
government with Mr. Willy, an American, as its first Principal. The cornerstone of the
present high school was laid in January, 1914 on what was formerly a cemetery its first
building which now houses the main building was finally completed in 1924. Its first
Filipino principal was Mr. Aquilino Carino.

This study aim to develop Pedro Guevara Memorial National High School Guidance
Services and Management system to help the guidance counselor in maintaining the
records of the students to become efficient, easier to retrieve files and less time
consuming
The goal of this study is to increase the productivity of the guidance office by providing a
fast and easy using computerized system. The purpose of this study therefore, is to
determine particularly need of students for an effective and enabling system of guidance
and counseling to assist the students to meet their needs. It is also a program System
for the implementation of the school system utilizing the counseling approaches. In line
with the expressed needs and problems of students, teachers administration, and on the
strength of guidance counselor during office work. This guidance services and
Management system will developed a focus and objective on the school counselor as an
effective consultants, coordinator, researcher and evaluator.

Purpose and Description

The proposed system is responsible for acquiring, utilizing and storing student’s
personal information. The system will also compile and organize the programs and
project that the school offers for social and intellectual development to assist each
student for self-realization. The system will organize the scheduling of the guidance and
counselling sessions.

Objectives of the Study

The main purpose of this study is to help the Guidance Counselor do the task easily,
productively and neatly with a computer based system. Making high school life
productive, meaningful and pleasant cannot be overstated by means of the system that
would use as an easy and user-friendly system.

 To develop a Guidance Services and information System of Pedro Guevara

Memorial National High School based on the requirement given by the client
 To develop a system that will utilize and handle confidential information during
counselling sessions and monitor the student’s progress
 The system would record the problem and violations of a student in guidance
office.
 To organize the schedules of guidance and counselling sessions, and access the
history of previous sessions
 To design a system that will maintain a database of counselling record
 The system would track the past records of students by using this program.
 The system would minimize paper works, retrieve records easily and create
reports

Scope and Limitation

The study aims to develop a Guidance Services and Management System for the
Pedro Guevara Memorial National High School to guide the students through the
counselors that can help them make intelligent, career choices and wise decisions by
the counselor to operate the system and to provide students with educational and
occupational information. It will also handle the obtained data, track and monitor
information of progress of student self-understanding.
Scope
• Drop out Students/Form and Student Information.
• Update the Student Records
• Viewing of Student Information, and
• Speed-up Processing.
Limitation
• The system can be used in Pedro Guevara Memorial National High School only.
