RAINFALL

Typhoon Ambo brought strong winds,


gustiness, and heavy rainfall in some part of
the Philippines.Philippine Atmospheric,
Geophysical and Astronomical Services
Administration (PAG-ASA) issued heavy to
intense rainfall which the color red in the
Rainfall Warning Icons in the PAG-ASA
Bulletin. The rainfalls in the following areas
of the Philippines are as follow:

 During May 14, 2020, Heavy to intense rains over Samar Provinces, Masbate, and Sorsogon;
while moderate to at times heavy rains in parts of Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes and
the rest of Eastern Visayas.
 On May 15, 2020, Rainfall is
moderate to heavy with at times intense over
Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Quezon,
Aurora, Marinduque, Laguna, Rizal, Metro
Manila, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva
Vizcaya and Quirino.
 The PAG-ASA issued heavy rainfall
warnings across regions of Luzon which
includes a red warning in Metro Manila
during the night of May 15, 2020 wherein
there is a total of 93mm (3.66 inches) of rain
fell in Metro Manila. While on May 16, 2020,
there is a record of 284mm (11.18 inches) of
rain fell in some parts of the eastern coast of
Luzon; 152mm (5.93 inches) also rain fell in
Infanta. While in the Bicol region there is an
estimate of 101-200 mm amount of rainfall
and due to that landslides and flooding has
occurred greatly
 Due to the heavy rainfall that is
brought by the Typhoon Ambo, it causes
floods in some areas of the Philippines especially to those places with low lying areas and
near the coast. It also causes lahar and sediments to flow along the slope of Mayon Vocano in
Albay Province, Bicol Region.
