Prometheus was founded in 2001 with the aim of being the
first Italian company qualified in design and production

 NAME: ProFlex –Fireproof protection
TYPE: Flexible
ProFlex protects the main devices
that control a plant with a
flexible jacket fully designed and
manufactured in Italy. The goal
is reducing drastically the risks
arising from fire and blow-up.
The safety of ProFlex comes from
its structure: this product is indeed
composed by pre-shaped pads with
layers of mineral fibers wrapped
into special technical fabrics
finished with protective materials
to ensure thermal insulation to high
temperature of hydrocarbon flames as well as
weather, chemicals and UV rays resistance. Heat-
resistant straps, belts and stainless-steel washers, clasps
and springs are used to make the structure airtight and
prevent inflow of combustion products in case of fire.
DESIGN
The realization of the ProFlex requires a detailed design
and engineering phase.

CUSTOMIZABLE FEATURES
ProFlex fire protection systems can be entirely
designed on specific customer requirements and
modeled based on plant drawings (or after a site
inspection, when needed).
Exit penetrations for position indicators, plug for
electrical cables and pipes, adjustment levers for
manually operated pumps, declutch devices, stems
and hand-wheels. All those additional features can
be supplied as recommended by API 2218 standards.
Surface color can also be customized according to
plant identification, policies and other accessories (i.e.
heatproof grids to assist internal ventilation available
upon request).
INSTALLATION FRIENDLY
No special tools are required for site plug-in. Electric and
pneumatic cabling can be brought in using threaded
casings laid down with reinforced thermal insulation.
All fireproofing blankets are supplied with dedicated
installation procedures for an easy and quick assembly
on site while plant is still in operation.

TYPE: Hybrid
ProBrid is a hybrid solution combining a rigid and a
jacket-type protection case. It is applied when both
rounded and critical equipment occur, so a simple
box or blanket would not provide the optimal
fire protection (i.e. valve/actuator device). ProBrid
systems aim to reduce the risk of damage in
case of fire and blast overpressure, increasing
the resistance time of protected devices and
allowing prompt intervention to limit the spread
of fire to other parts of the plant. A stainless-steel
structure is coupled with pre-shaped blanket
pads and wrapped into technical fabrics. The
result is a special interface built on each specific
application, to protect against flame flaring by
hydrocarbon fire. Both structures are filled with
layers of mineral fibers to reduce heat transfer to
the protected equipment, while blanket pads are
covered with protective materials to increase high
temperature resistance. Heat-resistant sealing
are used to make the structure airtight and
prevent inflow of combustion products in case
of fire. ProBrid is suitable for applications where
highly customized shapes are required to exploit the
maximum benefit/cost ratio in limited space and harsh
environment.

provided by the customer. Storm doors, roofs, wall
brackets, grommet plate and other features are designed
to meet IP 66 index protection.
ProCab can be provided with additional features
according to the customer’ needs:

ProCab represents one of the most versatile products
of the Prometheus’ offer. These cabinets are small and
medium cases, made from multi-folded single sheets
in AISI 304 or 316L stainless steel, carbon steel or light
alloy steel, carefully refined and painted according to
required specification. Suitable to be installed directly
on the equipment or hung to the wall, this product –
fully manufactured in Italy – is realized following
standard features, such as:
• Blind door or Lexan shatterproof window (according
to the EHS regulation in place) to meet safety and
durability requirements
• Wall fixing supports in AISI 304 or AISI 316L stainless
steel, carbon steel or light alloy steel
• Pre-drilled inner plate to fasten instrumentation
• Instrumentation gauges for control and inspection

Designed and manufactured to against drawings and
customer specifications, the flanges can be made in carbon
steel, stainless steel, alloys, chrome steel and special steels
(such as Duplex 2205 and Super Duplex 2507), to match
stringent requirements typical for the Oil & Gas industry.

LIGHT AND HEAVY CARPENTRY

Based on Prometheus proven track record in metallic
carpentry, Prometheus can provide light and heavy metallic
carpentry for oil & gas and petrochemical plants, such as
ramps, stairways, footbridges, retaining walls, etc. Starting
from customer specification, the engineers will test both
functionality and validity, through 3D model and specific

CARPENTRY PRODUCTION SITE
Over the years, Prometheus developed a production
