2. INTRODUCTION
This document describes the required environment and the procedures for installation of the
CS WAVE components:
- welding workbench
- control centre
- server
Be sure to carefully read this document before you begin the installation procedure.

3. VIRTUAL WELDING WORKBENCH

3.1 PRE-REQUISITES
Before you install a CS WAVE virtual welding workbench in a training workshop, be sure the
following requirements have been observed:
- System is installed in a room protected from the workshop environment, but near the
workshop. The basic idea is to ensure that the workbench is protected from workshop
dust. The workbench should not however be too far from the workshop since the
trainees will be going back and forth several times from one location to the other.
- Reflections should be limited as far as possible; these can be created on the screen by
windows, doors and lights. The workbench should be installed in a covered box. If this
is not possible, ensure that the room lighting does not generate any significant
reflections on the two positions of the screen (vertical and horizontal).
- Proper workbench routing should be ensured (passage via doors, hallways, etc.).
- A pallet truck should be available on the day of delivery for unloading.
- A network connector RJ45 should be available with an IP address assigned for the
workbench.
- A power outlet.
- If used as part of a network within a training centre, the CS WAVE server must be
installed beforehand (see chapter 5) and all its characteristics (in particular, its IP
address) must be known.

3.2 INSTALLATION
Final installation of the workbench (installation of software and startup) is ensured by a
specialized technician. The technician will intervene once the workbench has been installed at
its final location. Updates, corrections and upgrades will also be ensured in the same way by
CS SI. Unless otherwise specified by CS SI, the user is not authorized to open the workbench
to access the system.
The workbench has its own security system against micro-cutouts, power cutouts and network
intrusions.
Once the final installation procedure has been completed by the specialized technician, the
workbench is operational.

4. CONTROL CENTRE

4.1 PRE-REQUISITES
The CS WAVE control centre application is a software which is installed on an existing PC
(trainer workstation, in particular).
The machine must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
- Processor: Pentium III 1GHz
- Ram: 256 MB
- Hard disk: 80 GB
- Operating system: Windows NT, 2000 or XP

If a control centre is to be installed on the machine hosting the CS WAVE server, you must
start by installing the server (see chapter 5).

4.2 INSTALLATION
The CS WAVE distribution has a WaControl directory.
To start installing the CS WAVE control centre, go to this directory and run the setup.exe
program.
An automated installation program will guide you step by step in installing the application on
your workstation.

The installation program can be run in English or French (default option).

Figure 1 – Control centre language selection

The following window will then be displayed to indicate that the setup is initializing.

Figure 2 – Initialization of control centre setup

You must now choose the folder in which the CS WAVE control centre will be installed. By
default, the application installs it in directory: c:\program files\CS\WaControl.
A customized folder can be defined by clicking « Browse… ».
Once you have made your choice, click the « Next » button to continue the setup procedure.

On completion of the setup procedure, a final window indicates that the CS WAVE server is
now installed on your workstation. Click « Finish » to exit the setup program.

A « Control centre » icon is now displayed on the workstation WINDOWS desktop. This
will allow you to quickly launch the application (see user manual for CS WAVE control
centre).

The last step in the setup procedure consists in generating a valid license file in order to
execute the CS WAVE control centre. An icon entitled « Control centre configuration » is
displayed on the WINDOWS desktop and will allow you to execute the configuration tool for
the CS WAVE control centre.
Start the configuration tool; a window comes up showing the information required to generate
the license file.

Contact CS WAVE support and indicate the identification information on the workstation on
which the application has been installed.

CSW WAVE support will then return you a code. Copy this code in the « CS WAVE code »
field.

Click on the « Generate license file » button. The license file is then generated and the
information on the active license is updated.

You can now use the CS WAVE control centre.

4.3 UNINSTALLATION
To delete the CS WAVE control centre from your workstation, first check that the application
is stopped (see CS WAVE control centre installation manual).

The deletion procedure is as follows:

• Open the Start menu
• Go to the Parameters menu
• Open the Configuration panel
• Run Add/Delete programs
• Select WaControl in the list of programs
• Click Modify/Delete

The uninstall program for the CS WAVE control centre is then launched.
Select the uninstall program language:

The program will then request you to confirm complete deletion of the CS WAVE and its
database.

Figure 11 – Deletion confirmation

A final message will ask you to confirm deletion of all the data contained on the workstation
(user profiles, results…).

The uninstall program stops the database manager, deletes the database and all the program
elements.

5. SERVER

5.1 PRE-REQUISITES
The CS WAVE server application is a software which is installed on an existing PC. We
recommend that you use a machine dedicated to this purpose, though this is not mandatory.
The machine must satisfy the following requirements:
- Processor: Pentium III 1GHz
- RAM: 512 MB
- Hard disk: 80 GB
- Operating system: Windows NT, 2000 or XP

Before installing a CS WAVE server, be sure that the following requirements have been
observed:

- The PC must be connected to the same network as that on which the workbenchs
are to be installed.
- The Windows user account with which the server is installed and used must
have Administrator rights.
- The workstation must remain on during the week to ensure backup archiving of
CS WAVE data.
- There should not be any databases under MySQL since the server will use this
application to manage its own database.
- Since the CS WAVE server will be installed on this PC, it is essential that it is
secure and stable (no virus, firewall protection, no « wild » installations). It is
the training centre’s responsibility to ensure that the machine environment is
sound.
- Ideally, to allow monitoring of the results by outside observers and maintenance by
CS SI, it would be useful that this PC have a fixed IP address which can be accessed
from the outside on the https protocol only (port 443).

5.2 INSTALLATION

The CS WAVE distribution contains a WaServer directory.

To start installing the CS WAVE server, go to this directory and launch the setup.exe
program.
An automated installation program will guide you step by step in installing the application on
your workstation.

The installation program can be run in English or French (default option).

execute the CS WAVE server. An icon entitled « Server configuration » is displayed on the
WINDOWS desktop and will allow you to execute the configuration tool for the CS WAVE
server.
