UNIT 1 – ELECTRIC POWER QUALITY

Industrial Electronics 2019-2020

Detailed written report with results discussion is required for all exercises

Exercise 1 – Given the three phasors: V0 = 3.5∠122°; V1=5∠-10°;V2=19∠92°, find the

phase sequence components

Exercise 2 (Simulation) – Obtain the symmetrical components of the three phase

currents during a line to ground fault and line to line fault on the following system
Exercise 3 – A three phase system supplies three identical non-linear loads as shown in
the following figure. Obtain:

A) The neutral current

B) The current phasor diagram
C) The power factor

Exercise 4 (Simulation) – Simulate and discuss the results of the following three phase
(four wire) circuits – Note: Simulate as separate files with the evaluation version

Lab session – Unit 1 – Electric power quality measurement (Fluke 43)

Recommendation 1 – Revise the Fluke 43 applications guide and user’s manual before
the lab session

Recommendation 2 – During the lab session take pictures of the Fluke 43 screen to keep
all the relevant values for further processing

Activities

A) Voltage fluctuations. Record the voltage during 4 min.

B) Voltage harmonic distortion (up to n=11).
C) Power and current harmonic distortion measurement
