What is 5G?
5G is a 5th generation mobile communication that uses new radio-access called New
Radio (NR) and connected to a new 5G core network called 5GCN and focuses on 3
distinctive classes of use cases:
Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB)
Massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC)
Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communication (URLLC)
5G Use Cases
For example, eMBB requires high connection throughputs and high network capacity,
whereas URLLC requires low latency and high reliability for devices with both low and
high mobility.
The ITU-R has identified a general set of requirements and has assigned an importance
to each requirement for each use case.
