1. Explain why a patient B blood type cannot receive A blood type. (5 marks)

People with blood type B produce antibodies to the antigens of A. An ABO incompatibility
reaction will have a person with type B blood having a transfusion of type A or AB blood. The
immune system attacks the new blood cells due to an ABO incompatibility reaction and kills
them.

2. Explain why a patient O blood type just only can receive O blood type. (5 marks)

3. Describe what may happen when a patient under surgery receive incompatible blood type.

4. Explain the situation may happen on positive Rh fetus of the negative Rh mother if this is her
first-time pregnancy. (5 marks)
