Dear Khanderwal:

We have reviewed the change regarding to Metallurgy:

1. First, the abbreviations used here below need to be clarified:
DSS = Duplex ??
KCS = Killed Carbon Steel
DFT =  ??

2. Is this materials table applicable for both Cooling water on tubes side and  CW on shell side ?
They have to clarify.
Our experience is that SS/Duplex is not necessary when the CW is on tubes side, Carbon Steel is
suitable.

3. Duplex is usually used to replace Stainless Steel when the chlorides content is high. Based on the
chlorides content provided at KOM (< 100 ppm wt), Duplex is not required in any case.

4. Remark: it does not apply to closed loop with tempered water, so no impact on Cycle Gas
Coolers.
By the way, please note that we will change the material of baffles, supports, spacers, tie-rods... in
the mechanical conceptual sketch of the 501-E-4002/4302 TEMA sheets (page 5) : no need for having
SS304, CS is suitable. It will be implemented for the rev0, and used for the guide drawings.

5. As per the part B §7.5.2 we received in July, we have the following:

We have designed the heat exchangers based on these materials(Carbon Steel). It is too late to change
the materials since the TEMA sheets for all heat exchangers are almost completed in order to meet the
schedule considering internal review before submission.

We will issue the revA of the TEMA based on the initial basis of design (Carbon Steel), at the contractual
date, and we will change the material (if confirmed and after clarifications) in the rev0 at the end of the
BEDP.
