CLOSING MESSAGE
(General Orientation, October 19, 2020)

Preliminaries: Acknowledgment of participants/attendees/guests

“Cause I’m in the stars tonight, So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight.
Shining through the city with a little funk and soul. So, I’m gonna light it up like
dynamite…” Are you familiar with that song lyrics? Well, that is the most recent song
of the KPOP boy band B.T.S, entitled ‘Dynamite’. The song talks about being hopeful
even though the world seems a little dark nowadays. As incoming freshmen
students, I can’t imagine how difficult for you being bombarded with all the
challenges that the world is facing, especially in education. The adjustment from
face-to-face class to blended learning, not being with your friends, not being able to
ask questions to your instructors directly, and just being normal college students.
However, just like the BTS song, you should still be hopeful and optimistic even in
this time of crisis.

I hope that after the discussion of our well-knowledgeable keynote speakers, we are
able to at least clear up some issues regarding the ‘new norm’ of education and
various learning delivery modalities.

As the VP for administration and Finance, the office pledges the continued support
on student development through financial assistance for those qualified scholars and
student laborers. The university through the leadership by the University President, ,
her vice presidents and the entire SSU Community will always be with you, in your
every step and every breakthrough.

As we transition to the new norm of education, the path is not always smooth, there
will be rocks and bumps along the way. However, being together in this journey will
make it easy. So freshmen, I wish you all the best in this journey, may you enjoy
your time here at Samar State University, may you become who you wanted to be.

As I conclude my part, I will leave you with this bible verse from Proverbs 3:5-6,
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. In all
your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path.” So, Don’t loss hope,
continue to be optimistic and motivated… set the night alight, and be a dynamite.
