1. What are the three (3) things that you significantly learned from the reading?

Please
start by saying ' Before reading the article, I used to think that (insert thought). After
reading the article, I now think that (insert thought)'.

 Before reading the article, I used to think that there are no other umbrella terms
other than ‘bakla’, ‘bading’, ‘beki’, ‘tibo’, and ‘tomboy’. After reading the article, I
now think that there are variety of umbrella terms like ‘parloristas’, ‘beauconeras’,
‘Butch’, ‘tombutch’, ‘pa-men’, ‘lipsticks’, ‘femmes’, and etc.

 Before reading the article, I used to think that Philippine gay cinema in the past
was for entertainment only (viewed in humorous way only). After reading the
article, I now think that the representation of gay in cinemas has progressed
through the years. More Filipino gay film addressed issues close to heart; sexual
repression, marginalization, acceptance (crime and guilt), and the issue of
coming out rather than viewer’s entertainment. I think one of the best example is
the film ‘Praybeyt Benjamin’ starring Vice Ganda. It broke the gay stereotypes of
gays are not fitted in military.

 Before reading the article, I used to think that homosexuals are does not support
gender or sex stereotyping. But after reading the article, I now think that they are
stereotyping each other by also using such terms to categorize people within
their community.
