I/We claim:

1. A polyamide formulation comprising


a polyamide,
a 1:1 alternating olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer, wherein the olefin is
5 ethylene, and
an impact modifier,
wherein the impact modifier is an acrylic-core shell impact modifier, a polymer
or copolymer with maleic anhydride or isocyanate pendant groups, an ethylene-acrylate ester-
maleic anhydride terpolymer, an ethylene-acrylate ester copolymer, a thermoplastic olefin, or a
10 thermoplastic elastomer, and wherein the olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer increases the heat
deflection temperature (HDT) by an amount in the range of 4.5° C. to 26.4° C. as measured by
ASTM D648 at 66 psi.
2. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the acrylate
ester is a methyl, propyl, or butyl acrylate ester.
15 3. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the polyamide
is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-6 and nylon
6-6, nylon-9, nylon-10, nylon-11, nylon-12, nylon 6-10, aromatic polyamides, elastomeric
polyamides, and mixtures thereof.
4. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the polyamide
20 is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-6 and nylon 6
6, and mixtures thereof.
5. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the olefin-
maleic anhydride copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of 20,000 to 800,000.
6. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the impact
25 modifier is a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer or a grafted-maleic anhydride terpolymer
having a maleic anhydride content of from 0.5% to 5%.
7. An article comprising a polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1.
8. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the olefin-
maleic anhydride copolymer increases the Izod Impact Strength by an amount in the range of
30 0.39 ft-lb/in to 2.1 ft-lb/in at 23° C. as measured by ASTM D256.
9. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 8, wherein the Izod
Impact Strength is 1.21 ft-lb/in to 2.93 ft-lb/in at 23° C. as measured by ASTM D256.

10. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the olefin-
maleic anhydride copolymer increases the Flexural Modulus by an amount in the range of 72
MPA to 510.5 MPA as measured by ASTM D790.
11. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 10, wherein Flexural
5 Modulus is 1498 MPA to 1913.3 MPa as measured by ASTM D 790.
12. A polyamide composition produced by a process comprising the steps of:
(a) preparing a master batch composition comprising an impact modifier and a
1:1 alternating olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer, wherein the olefin is ethylene; and
(b) compounding a polyamide with the master batch composition,
10 wherein the impact modifier is an acrylic-core shell impact modifier, a polymer
or copolymer with maleic anhydride or isocyanate pendant groups, an ethylene-acrylate ester-
maleic anhydride terpolymer, an ethylene-acrylate ester copolymer, a thermoplastic olefin, or a
thermoplastic elastomer, and
wherein the olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer increases the heat deflection temperature
15 (HDT) by an amount in the range of 4.5° C. to 26.4° C. as measured by ASTM D648 at 66 psi.

13. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 12, wherein the master
batch further comprises one or more stabilizing agents.
14. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 13, wherein the one or
more stabilizing agents is selected from the group consisting of cuprous iodide, potassium
20 iodide, tris (2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl)phosphite, and N,N′-hexane-1,6-diylbis(3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-
4-hydroxyphenylpropionamide)).
15. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 12, wherein the master
batch further comprises one or more compatibilizers selected from the group consisting of
acrylic acid modified polypropylene homopolymer, maleic anhydride modified polypropylene
25 homopolymer, ethylene acrylic acid copolymer, and ethylene-octene copolymer grafted with
maleic anhydride.
16. A polyamide composition produced by a process comprising the step of
compounding a mixture comprising
a polyamide,
30 a 1:1 alternating olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer, wherein the olefin is
selected from the group consisting of ethylene, propylene, isobutylene, 1-butene, 1-octene,
butadiene, isoprene, 1-hexene, 1-dodecene, and 1-tetradecene, and

an impact modifier selected from the group consisting of a grafted-maleic
anhydride elastomer and a grafted-maleic anhydride terpolymer.
17. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the
polyamide is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-
5 6and nylon 6-6, nylon-9, nylon-10, nylon-11, nylon-12, nylon 6-10, aromatic polyamides,
elastomeric polyamides, and mixtures thereof.
18. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the
polyamide is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-
6and nylon 6 6, and mixtures thereof.
10 19. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the
polyamide is recycled polyamide.
20. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the olefin is
ethylene.
21. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the olefin-
15 maleic anhydride copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of 1000 to 900,000.
22. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the olefin-
maleic anhydride copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of 60,000 to 400,000.
23. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, further comprising
one or more stabilizing agents.
20 24. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 23, wherein each of the
one or more stabilizing agents is independently selected from the group consisting of cuprous
iodide, potassium iodide, tris-(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl)phosphite, and N,N′-hexane-1,6-
diylbis(3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenylpropionamide)).
25. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 23, wherein each of the
25 one or more stabilizing agents independently has a concentration of 0.01 to 1.0% w/w of the
polyamide composition.
26. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 18, further comprising a
compatibilizer selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid modified polypropylene
homopolymer, maleic anhydride modified polypropylene homopolymer, ethylene acrylic acid
30 copolymer, and ethylene-octene copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.
27. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the impact
modifier is a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer or a grafted-maleic anhydride terpolymer
having a maleic anhydride content of from 0.5% to 5%.

28. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 27, wherein the impact
modifier is a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer or terpolymer having a maleic anhydride
content in the range of 0.8 to 2%.
29. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, further comprising
5 one or more additives selected from the group consisting of a UV stabilizer, a halogenated or
non-halogenated flame retardant additive, a reinforcement material, a heat stabilizer, a light
stabilizer, a polymerization regulator, a plasticizer, a lubricant, a rheology modifier, a friction
modifier, an anti-blocking agent, an antioxidant, an antistatic agent, a UV absorber, a pigment,
and a dye.
10 30. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 29, wherein the
reinforcement is a mineral, a glass fiber, a glass fabric, a glass roving filament, a glass tube, a
glass yarn, carbon, graphite, or cellulose.
31. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the impact
modifier is selected from the group consisting of a rubber copolymer produced in a reactor from
15 ethylene and propylene (EPR) grafted with maleic anhydride, a rubber terpolymer of ethylene,
propylene and diene-modifier (EPDM) grafted with maleic anhydride, and an ethylene alpha-
olefin copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.
32. An article comprising a polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16.
33. A polyamide composition produced by a process comprising the steps of:
20 (a) preparing a master batch composition comprising an impact modifier selected
from the group consisting of a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer and a 1:1 alternating olefin-
maleic anhydride copolymer , wherein the olefin is selected from the group consisting of
ethylene, propylene, isobutylene, 1-butene, 1-octene, butadiene, isoprene, 1-hexene, 1-
dodecene, and 1-tetradecene; and
25 (b) compounding a polyamide with the master batch composition and an impact
modifier.
34. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 33 wherein the impact
modifier is a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer or a grafted-maleic anhydride terpolymer
having a maleic anhydride content of from 0.5% to 5%.
30 35. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 33, wherein the impact
modifier is a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer or terpolymer having a maleic anhydride
content in the range of 0.8 to 2%.

36. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 33, wherein the impact
modifier is selected from the group consisting of a rubber copolymer produced in a reactor from
ethylene and propylene (EPR) grafted with maleic anhydride, a rubber terpolymer of ethylene,
propylene and diene-modifier (EPDM) grafted with maleic anhydride, and an ethylene-alpha-
5 olefin copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.
37. The polyamide composition of as claimed in claim 33, wherein the
master batch further comprises one or more stabilizing agents.
38. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 37 wherein the one or
more stabilizing agents is selected from the group consisting of cuprous iodide, potassium
10 iodide, tris (2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl)phosphite, and N,N'-hexane-1,6-diylbis(3-(3,5-di-tert-
buty1-4-hydroxyphenylpropionamide)).
39. The polyamide composition of as claimed in claim 33, wherein the
master batch further comprises one or more compatibilizers selected from the group consisting
of acrylic acid modified polypropylene homopolymer, maleic anhydride modified
15 polypropylene homopolymer, ethylene acrylic acid copolymer, and ethylene-octene copolymer
grafted with maleic anhydride.
40. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 33, wherein the master
batch further comprises one or more stabilizing agents and one or more compatibilizers selected
from the group consisting of acrylic acid modified polypropylene homopolymer, maleic
20 anhydride modified polypropylene homopolymer, ethylene acrylic acid copolymer, and
ethylene-octene copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.
41. A polyamide composition produced by a process comprising the steps of:
(a) preparing a master batch composition comprising an impact modifier and a
1:1 alternating olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer, wherein the olefin is selected from the
25 group consisting of ethylene, propylene, isobutylene, 1-butene, 1-octene, butadiene, isoprene, 1-
hexene, 1-dodecene, and 1-tetradecene; and
(b) compounding a polyamide with the master batch composition,
wherein the impact modifier is an acrylic-core shell impact modifier, a polymer
or copolymer with maleic anhydride or isocyanate pendant groups, an ethylene-acrylate ester-
30 maleic anhydride terpolymer, an ethylene-acrylate ester copolymer, a thermoplastic olefin, or a
thermoplastic elastomer, wherein the master batch further comprises one or more
compatibilizers selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid modified polypropylene

homopolymer, maleic anhydride modified polypropylene homopolymer, ethylene acrylic acid
copolymer, and ethylene-octene copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.
42. The polyamide composition of as claimed in claim 41, wherein the
polyamide is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-6
5 and nylon 6-6, nylon-9, nylon-10, nylon-11, nylon-12, nylon 6-10, aromatic polyamides,
elastomeric polyamides, and mixtures thereof.

2. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the acrylate
ester is a methyl, propyl, or butyl acrylate ester.
15 3. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the polyamide
is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-6 and nylon
6-6, nylon-9, nylon-10, nylon-11, nylon-12, nylon 6-10, aromatic polyamides, elastomeric
polyamides, and mixtures thereof.
4. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the polyamide
20 is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-6 and nylon 6
6, and mixtures thereof.
5. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the olefin-
maleic anhydride copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of 20,000 to 800,000.

25 6. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the impact


modifier is a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer or a grafted-maleic anhydride terpolymer
having a maleic anhydride content of from 0.5% to 5%.
7. An article comprising a polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1.
8. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the olefin-
30 maleic anhydride copolymer increases the Izod Impact Strength by an amount in the range of
0.39 ft-lb/in to 2.1 ft-lb/in at 23° C. as measured by ASTM D256.
9. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 8, wherein the Izod Impact
Strength is 1.21 ft-lb/in to 2.93 ft-lb/in at 23° C. as measured by ASTM D256.

10. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the olefin-


maleic anhydride copolymer increases the Flexural Modulus by an amount in the range of 72
MPA to 510.5 MPA as measured by ASTM D790.
11. The polyamide formulation as claimed in claim 10, wherein Flexural
5 Modulus is 1498 MPA to 1913.3 MPa as measured by ASTM D 790.
12. A polyamide composition produced by a process comprising the steps of:
(a) preparing a master batch composition comprising an impact modifier and a
1:1 alternating olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer, wherein the olefin is ethylene; and
(b) compounding a polyamide with the master batch composition,
10 wherein the impact modifier is an acrylic-core shell impact modifier, a polymer
or copolymer with maleic anhydride or isocyanate pendant groups, an ethylene-acrylate ester-
maleic anhydride terpolymer, an ethylene-acrylate ester copolymer, a thermoplastic olefin, or a
thermoplastic elastomer, and
wherein the olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer increases the heat deflection temperature
15 (HDT) by an amount in the range of 4.5° C. to 26.4° C. as measured by ASTM D648 at 66 psi.

13. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 12, wherein the master
batch further comprises one or more stabilizing agents.
14. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 13, wherein the one or
more stabilizing agents is selected from the group consisting of cuprous iodide, potassium
20 iodide, tris (2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl)phosphite, and N,N′-hexane-1,6-diylbis(3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-
4-hydroxyphenylpropionamide)).
15. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 12, wherein the master
batch further comprises one or more compatibilizers selected from the group consisting of
acrylic acid modified polypropylene homopolymer, maleic anhydride modified polypropylene
25 homopolymer, ethylene acrylic acid copolymer, and ethylene-octene copolymer grafted with
maleic anhydride.
116. A polyamide composition produced by a process comprising the step of
compounding a mixture comprising
a polyamide,
30 a 1:1 alternating an olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer, wherein the olefin is
selected from the group consisting of ethylene, propylene, isobutylene, 1-butene, 1-octene,
butadiene, isoprene, 1-hexene, 1-dodecene, and 1-tetradecene, and
an impact modifier selected from the group consisting of a grafted-maleic
anhydride elastomer and a grafted-maleic anhydride terpolymer.

17. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the


polyamide is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-
6and nylon 6-6, nylon-9, nylon-10, nylon-11, nylon-12, nylon 6-10, aromatic polyamides,
elastomeric polyamides, and mixtures thereof.
5 18. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the
polyamide is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-
6and nylon 6 6, and mixtures thereof.
19. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the
polyamide is recycled polyamide.
10 20. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the olefin is
ethylene.
21. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the olefin-
maleic anhydride copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of 1000 to 900,000.
22. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the olefin-
15 maleic anhydride copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of 60,000 to 400,000.
23. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, further comprising
one or more stabilizing agents.
24. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 23, wherein each of the
one or more stabilizing agents is independently selected from the group consisting of cuprous
20 iodide, potassium iodide, tris-(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl)phosphite, and N,N′-hexane-1,6-
diylbis(3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenylpropionamide)).
25. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 23, wherein each of the
one or more stabilizing agents independently has a concentration of 0.01 to 1.0% w/w of the
polyamide composition.
25 26. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 18, further comprising a
compatibilizer selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid modified polypropylene
homopolymer, maleic anhydride modified polypropylene homopolymer, ethylene acrylic acid
copolymer, and ethylene-octene copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.
27. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the impact
30 modifier is a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer or a grafted-maleic anhydride terpolymer
having a maleic anhydride content of from 0.5% to 5%.
28. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 27, wherein the impact
modifier is a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer or terpolymer having a maleic anhydride
content in the range of 0.8 to 2%.

29. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, further comprising


one or more additives selected from the group consisting of a UV stabilizer, a halogenated or
non-halogenated flame retardant additive, a reinforcement material, a heat stabilizer, a light
stabilizer, a polymerization regulator, a plasticizer, a lubricant, a rheology modifier, a friction
5 modifier, an anti-blocking agent, an antioxidant, an antistatic agent, a UV absorber, a pigment,
and a dye.
30. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 29, wherein the
reinforcement is a mineral, a glass fiber, a glass fabric, a glass roving filament, a glass tube, a
glass yarn, carbon, graphite, or cellulose.
10 31. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16, wherein the impact
modifier is selected from the group consisting of a rubber copolymer produced in a reactor from
ethylene and propylene (EPR) grafted with maleic anhydride, a rubber terpolymer of ethylene,
propylene and diene-modifier (EPDM) grafted with maleic anhydride, and an ethylene alpha-
olefin copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.
15 32. An article comprising a polyamide composition as claimed in claim 16.
233. A polyamide composition produced by a process comprising the steps of:
(a) preparing a master batch composition comprising an impact modifier
selected from the group consisting of a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer a carrier resin and a
1:1 alternating an olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer , wherein the olefin is selected from the
20 group consisting of ethylene, propylene, isobutylene, 1-butene, 1-octene, butadiene, isoprene, 1-
hexene, 1-dodecene, and 1-tetradecene; and
(b) compounding a polyamide with the master batch composition and an
impact modifier.
334. The polyamide composition of claimas claimed in claim 2 33 wherein the
25 carrier resin is the impact modifier is a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer or a grafted-maleic
anhydride terpolymer having a maleic anhydride content of from 0.5% to 5%.
35. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 33, wherein the impact
modifier is a grafted-maleic anhydride elastomer or terpolymer having a maleic anhydride
content in the range of 0.8 to 2%.
30 36. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 33, wherein the impact
modifier is selected from the group consisting of a rubber copolymer produced in a reactor from
ethylene and propylene (EPR) grafted with maleic anhydride, a rubber terpolymer of ethylene,
propylene and diene-modifier (EPDM) grafted with maleic anhydride, and an ethylene-alpha-
olefin copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.

4. The polyamide composition of claim 3 wherein preparing the master


batch comprises the steps of the steps of:
(a) preparing a mixture of the olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer, maleic
anhydride monomer, an elastomer, and a peroxide catalyst; and
5 (b) forming the impact modifier in the presence of the the olefin-maleic
anhydride copolymer.
5. The polyamide composition any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
polyamide composition has at least one improved mechanical property compared to a second
polyamide composition that includes the impact modifier and does not include the olefin-maleic
10 anhydride copolymer.
6. The polyamide composition of claim 5 wherein the improved mechanical
property is impact strength.
7. The polyamide composition of claim 6 wherein the polyamide
composition has at least one additional improved mechanical property selected from flex
15 modulus, elongation at break, and tensile strength, compared to the polyamide.
8. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
polyamide composition has mechanical properties that match the mechanical properties of a
second polyamide composition that includes the impact modifier and does not include the
olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer, wherein the level of impact modifier in the polyamide
20 composition is lower than the level of the impact modifier in the second polyamide
composition.
9. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
polyamide is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-6
and nylon 6-6, nylon-9, nylon-10, nylon-11, nylon-12, nylon 6-10, aromatic polyamides,
25 elastomeric polyamides, and mixtures thereof.
10. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
polyamide is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-6
and nylon 6 6, and mixtures thereof.
11. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
30 polyamide is recycled polyamide.
12. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
olefin is selected from ethylene, propylene, isobutylene, 1-butene, 1-octene, butadiene, styrene,
isoprene, 1-hexene, 1-dodecene, dodecene-1, and 1-tetradecene.

13. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the


olefin is ethylene.
14. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer is a 1:1 alternating olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer.
5 15. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of in the range of
about 1000 to about 900,000.
16. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of about 60,000
10 17. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of about 400,000.
1837. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4as claimed in
claim 33, wherein the master batch further comprising comprises one or more stabilizing
agents.
15 1938. The polyamide composition of as claimed in claim 17 37 wherein each of
the one or more stabilizing agents is independently selected from a the group consisting of

20. The polyamide composition of claim 17 wherein each of the one or more
20 stabilizing agents independently has a concentration of about 0.01 to about 1.0% w/w.
2139. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4as claimed in
claim 33, wherein the master batch further comprises a one or more compatibilizers selected
from the group consisting of acrylic acid modified polypropylene homopolymer, maleic
anhydride modified polypropylene homopolymer, ethylene acrylic acid copolymer, and
25 ethylene-octene copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.
40. The polyamide composition as claimed in claim 33, wherein the master
batch further comprises one or more stabilizing agents and one or more compatibilizers selected
from the group consisting of acrylic acid modified polypropylene homopolymer, maleic
anhydride modified polypropylene homopolymer, ethylene acrylic acid copolymer, and
30 ethylene-octene copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.
41. A polyamide composition produced by a process comprising the steps of:
(a) preparing a master batch composition comprising an impact modifier and a
1:1 alternating olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer, wherein the olefin is selected from the

group consisting of ethylene, propylene, isobutylene, 1-butene, 1-octene, butadiene, isoprene, 1-


hexene, 1-dodecene, and 1-tetradecene; and
(b) compounding a polyamide with the master batch composition,
wherein the impact modifier is an acrylic-core shell impact modifier, a polymer
5 or copolymer with maleic anhydride or isocyanate pendant groups, an ethylene-acrylate ester-
maleic anhydride terpolymer, an ethylene-acrylate ester copolymer, a thermoplastic olefin, or a
thermoplastic elastomer, wherein the master batch further comprises one or more
compatibilizers selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid modified polypropylene
homopolymer, maleic anhydride modified polypropylene homopolymer, ethylene acrylic acid
10 copolymer, and ethylene-octene copolymer grafted with maleic anhydride.
42. The polyamide composition of as claimed in claim 41, wherein the
polyamide is selected from the group consisting of nylon-6, nylon 6-6, a copolymer of nylon-6
and nylon 6-6, nylon-9, nylon-10, nylon-11, nylon-12, nylon 6-10, aromatic polyamides,
elastomeric polyamides, and mixtures thereof.
15 22. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the
elastomer is a maleic anhydride grafted elastomer.
23. The polyamide composition of any one of claims 1 to 4 further
comprising one or more additives selected from a UV stabilizer, a halogenated or non-
halogenated flame retardant additive, a reinforcement material, a heat stabilizer, a light
20 stabilizer, a polymerization regulator, a plasticizer, a lubricant, a rheology modifier, a friction
modifier, an anti-blocking agent, an antioxidant, an antistatic agent, a UV absorber, a pigment,
and a dye.
24. The polyamide composition of claim 23 wherein the reinforcement is a
mineral, or a fiber, a fabric, a roving filament, a tubs or a yarn, made from glass, carbon,
25 graphite, cellulose, an aromatic high melting polymer.
25. An article made from the polyamide composition of claim 23.
