EVENT PROPOSAL

INDEPENDENCE DAY 2018

A. BACKGROUND
Independence Day has always been an exciting annual event to celebrate the
patriotic spirit of Indonesia, our hosting country. As a world class school, it is
always good to take time honoring the long journey Indonesia has taken to be
an independent country. However, it is also great to see the spirit not as a
narrowed nationalism but as a way to promote both grass root understanding
and global citizenship at the same time.
In regards of that idea, SIS BV Independence Day committees would love to
organize a slightly different concept of celebration for this year. We want to
increase more engagement among the communities while giving the best
Indonesian experience through both flag raising ceremony and celebration.
As August would be the month of Indonesia start hosting Asian Games 2018,
we would also love to build this awareness for the communities to come and
support their Asian athletes in the respective sport areas. This time we will
have three main events: Flag Raising Ceremony, Culinary Festival and
Traditional Games Showcase which we will elaborate more in the below.

B. OBJECTIVE
1. To conduct Flag Raising Ceremony as a way to honour the history of
our of Indonesia gaining its independence.
2. To organize Culinary Festival as a way to promote Indonesian
experience, in terms of traditional foods and their origins.
3. To showcase Traditional Games and give fun experiences of how
Indonesian kids enjoying their childhood.
4. To promote Asian Games hosted by Indonesia this year as well as
celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship among Asian countries.
