Causes

● A crush injury: auto accident, fall, or building collapse


● Long-lasting muscle compression
● Electrical shock injury, lightning strike, or third-degree burn
● Venom from a snake or insect bite
● The use of alcohol or illegal drugs
Symptoms

Muscle swelling Dark urine: brown,

Treatments
Fluid recovery Medications

Preventions

● Start exercise program slowly


● Drink plenty of fluids before + after exercise
● Stay hydrated and avoid getting overheated
● Talk to your doctor about any medications that
might increase the risk of developing the
disease
