Proposed title for my Project Proposal: (write the proposed title for your Capstone Project
in one clear sentence): Fashion and design inspiration website.

What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that
connects with a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that
you cannot just google an answer for. Please see examples from your Capstone booklet.
My inquiry question is:

To what extent, a fashion website is effective in in inspiring and helping others in that area and
have an impact on their lifestyles?

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are
choosing to investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry connect
to your passion(s), purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this

area of inquiry?

I chose to do this project because from a very young age, I like fashion and I always have
trouble choosing what to wear in my everyday routine or what clothes to buy since sometimes
I change my style. I think this website can help many people who, like me, have an interest in
fashion and are looking for inspiration to dress up day by day, who want to find their own style,
or who want to change their lifestyle, such as going vegan and don't know what kind of clothes
or brand they can buy. I also feel that a website is an easy way to access information and that
everyone can do it if they have internet and technology.
Since I was very young, I like fashion and I always watch documentaries by famous designers
or read articles about new trends in fashion. also since YouTube and Instagram began to get
popular, I look at many Bloggers or people on Instagram who talk about fashion and give you
tips on how to dress or how to save when buying, that's why I would like to do something
similar to what they do.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What
connections does this inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

Over the summer, after thinking it very carefully, I decided that I want to study fashion and
design and work on that in Europe. I feel that doing this, I can have tools for the future when I
study in college and it will be a great opportunity to start entering the world of fashion. Also,
when it comes to presenting my resume at a university or in some future job, this would be a
great project that can make known my knowledge in fashion and my interest as well as my
own style.

Interdisciplinary and core competencies connections: What subject areas and core
competencies will be connected with your project? Outline and explain the connections.

This project will be based about fashion and design. The skills and knowledge gained in
design are used to design the website to make it as aesthetically cute as possible, easy, and
clear to use, so people come in and have no problem using it. The knowledge acquired in
fashion will be used to create the content of the page. This will use art history (a subject you
take in Uruguay) to make comparisons in styles and new trends so people can have
information on how these trends are created and inspired by designers. The sustainable
fashion subject that is becoming popular in different countries will also be used, and the
knowledge acquired will be used in the vegan and sustainable fashion section, to help people
find different options. For the core competency number one, personal awareness and
responsibility, this project will help me to manage my patient and time since it is difficult to
create the website and I have not so much time, but it is a good way to practice set goals and
achieve them. For social responsibility, I am good at identify different problems on society and
the needs of different people, that is why I think, this project is a good way help people on one
of the most common problems that all people have, that is clothing and style. Also, this project
helps me to discover problems on the Canadian society as I was not so aware of them. For
the critical thinking competency, this project requires that I search for different opinions,
analyze them, and considered all of them, as the main goal of my website is to reach all kind
of people. I consider that fashion is a way of expression and a variety of culture, each trend
represents a culture and always have a second meaning for the designer. This project will
help me to discover new cultures through fashion, for the personal and cultural identity
competency. This website will help me to develop my creative thinking, because I will have to
design each page, create looks inspiration by taking my ideas and making them real. For the
last core competency, communication, this website required me to develop a good
communication with pothers as I must express my ideas and what I search in a clear way so
everyone can understand.

 I will be presenting my project as a website using Weebly.com to create it.

Description of my Capstone project. Specific Project Details of the Capstone Project: what
will you research, create, study, produce, solve, investigate? What product will be produced
at the end of this project for evaluation. Write a one-page description outlining your
proposal.

My project is going to try to create a website that reflects my style. This site is going to be
divided into 4 different pages which will deal with different things. The first one is going to be a
page where you upload photos of me or Instagram girls (putting the Instagram user in each
photo) where you see different looks, as inspiration, so the person who enters can look at
those photos and get inspired to dress in their day to day. These photos will be divided by
category (day by day, night look, beach look, school look, etc.). The second page will be about
fashion tips. On this page, the person can find different fashion tips such as how to buy
clothes in sale, how to order your own wardrobe, how to combine the colors of clothes, etc.
For this section I will use information acquired from YouTube, from surveys to people and
based on my own experience, I will also browse the clothing pages to investigate which ones
have the highest discounts and to make a quality/price assessment of each store. I expected
to have at least 6 tips for the due date. The third page will be about new trends in clothing. For
this, I will investigate week by week new trends in fashion in different parts of the world, and
the idea is to give advice on how to use and combine these trends with the old ones, so that
people can reuse their clothes and at the same time go with the trend. Also, for this section, I
will investigate what designers are based on when creating new trends. I expect to have at
least four trends for this page. The last and most interesting page, it will be sustainable and
vegan fashion. This page will be aimed at people who, like me, they are looking for
sustainable options to dress or people who decided to be vegan and do not know where to
buy their clothes or accessories. For this section I will investigate what sustainable and vegan
fashion is all about, which brands meet these requirements and which products of these
brands meet these requirements, and tips on how to differentiate one vegan product from
others, and how this new type of fashion impacts the fashion and design industry as well as
people's lives. I will advertise my website using my Instagram and Pinterest account,
uploading a history photo with the link for the website and put it on my profile, as well as
promoting myself by telling others about my project. To see how successful my website is, I
will be checking on the page where I create, Weebly, the visitors that I had every week. I will
be writing the website on English and Spanish so I can reach different people and my goal is
to continuing working on this website after capstone is done.

Resources/ Technology/Skills: Make an assessment of the resources, technology and

skills you will need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to
access/learn all of the resources necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail
your plans.

To make this project, my main material will be the computer and cell phone to create the page
(I will use Weebly to create the site). As sources of information, I will use articles on new
trends in fashion and sustainable fashion, documentaries about designers and fashion,
YouTube videos. I will also do research on different social networks like Instagram and

 Pinterest to see which trends are more fashionable in the present and how people my age use
them, but also older people (including the two genres). I will start by doing research on new
fashions, using documentaries and clothing websites as a source of research. To make the
tips page, I am going to use YouTube videos of girls who have already made them and
organize all that information in such a way that it's easy for people to enter the site. For the
sustainable fashion page, I will use the items found in the school library.

Mentors/Community Connections: What types of mentor(s)/community connections will

you need to help you complete your capstone project? How will your mentor(s) help you?
What is your plan to access the mentorship/community connections necessary for this
project?

For my project, my mentor is going to be a friend of my mother who worked for years in the
fashion industry, advising the decoration of well-known stores. Since she specialized in the
aesthetics of these stores, she will advise me on the aesthetics of my page. I will also send an
email to a Spanish influencer that I follow years ago and who was my inspiration to dedicate
myself to this, to ask if she can advise me on new trends and fashion tips, but since I do not
know if she will see the message, for now I will only have a mentor.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee
that might affect progress with your Capstone Project?

One of my main limitations over time, as I do not have enough time to be able to do a
thorough investigation into each topic that I want to cover and to be able to design the
website in a good way. Another problem I may face is the lack of information on the
sustainable fashion side as it is a new issue and there may not be enough information
about it.

Other considerations: List and detail any other related information/ considerations about
your project that you feel should be included in your project proposal.

Since my project was based on the present, my source of information may not be on most
articles or academic papers written by professionals, as I will also research and rely on
YouTube documentaries and videos, the articles I will use will be for the sustainable fashion
and art history part.
