What is it?
-A genetic condition that leads to the loss of muscle mass.

-Rare among females.

-Caused by genetic changes, passed down from the mother.


Symptoms
● Frequent falls
● Difficulty rising from a lying or sitting position
● Trouble running and jumping
● Waddling gait
● Walking on the toes

- Delayed Motor Development

Taking longer to learn to sit, stand, or walk

- Enlarged calf muscles

- Heart and Breathing Problems

Begin in teens years

- Muscle Weakness that gets worse over time


Cure
Cure
There is no specific cure for the disease.

Medications are used to control symptoms and improve the function of muscle.

Heart transplant and Assistive devices for breathing may be necessary.

How to Prevent the Disease?
You can’t.

Genetic testing can be done to determine the risk.
