how did you come up with this type of research?

As trends in major health problems shift from acute infectious diseases to chronic diseases, the
concept of health is moving toward emphasizing not only an increase in life expectancy but also
quality of life (QoL). Thus, with this research, individual perception of health status is represented
by the concept of health-related QoL. Improving QoL is an essential goal in optimizing long-term
outcomes and reducing disabilities in patients with depression. Understanding the demographics
and health-related factors of associated individuals provides clinicians and policy makers with a
clinical overview, and helps provide a guideline in establishing a long-term management plan for
depression.

significance of the study

This research would be beneficial to the student nurses because they will be able to know what would
be the most important thing to focus among the elderly especially in times of crisis such as a pandemic
like this. In this study also the older people (who are the possible respondents for this study) could be
aware on things that depression can do to them. This research would also be beneficial to health care
professionals and policy makers because it helps or serves as an evidence based somehow to provide a
guideline in establishing a management plan for depression especially for the elderlies.

why did you chose the study

We chose this study because it is very relevant to the older people especially that we are
experiencing now the pandemic and they are the ones who are most affected by this pandemic,
not just physically but mentally.

This study will serve as a grounding data in identifying people who are at risk of QoL impairment
especially with those elderly having depression. This would also lead someone who creates
plans and even health care providers, those policy makers to direct their interests to these
individuals and provide appropriate management.

scope and limitations

This study will focus on the Health Related Quality of Life (HRQL) among Elderly who
experiences depression. The data collection will be conducted to those older adults within the
researchers residence’s vicinity and who will meet our criteria (such as those who are living near
our residence’s vicinity (since there’s pandemic thus, being advantage for the researcher), with
the age over 65-80 y.o, lives together with the family, having pension, male/female,
experiencing depression).
 This study will not cover other problems other than the above mentioned. Each respondents will
be interviewed and will be given the same questionnaires. Thus, the main source of data will be
the interview and questionnaire, which will be prepared by the researchers.
