3. To form nouns

1. The continuos tense:


Subject + Verb to be + Verb + ing

2. To form adjectives:
Examples:
 To smile: se puede obtener smiling
I love your smiling face: Amo tu rostro sonriente

 To energize: se puede obtener energizing


The company gave us an energizing talk: La compañia nos dio una
charla energizante
 To humiliate: se puede obtener humiliating
It was a humiliating defeat: Fue una derrota humillante

Vamos a contrastar: Infinitives vs Gerunds
Example:
I love to swim VS I love swimming

Infinitive Gerund

La diferencia está en la palabra swin que tiene dos funciones:


To swin es infinitivo del verbo y swimming ya no es verbo, se convierte
en sustantivo: La oración “I love swimming” = amo la natación
Los gerundios también pueden ir al principio de la oración y son
tomados como sustantivos también
