METHODOLOGY

Presented in this chapter are the research design, research subject of the study,

research instrument as well as the data gathering procedure.

Research Design

This study used quantitative non-experimental method. Quantitative method was

used to emphasize objective measurements and the statistical, mathematical or

numerical analysis of data collected through questionnaires using operational

technique. Quantitative non-experimental method was used for this study for it to

determine factors that affects the academic performance of the Grade 10 students in

Mati National Comprehensive High School.

Research Subject

The respondents of this study were the Grade 10 students in Mati National

Comprehensive High School which composed of fifteen (15) respondents. The

respondents were randomly selected by the researcher.

Research Instrument

This study makes use of retrieved questionnaires from Ghanbahadur (2014) and

Armstrong (2015) which content validated by the panel. The following questions were

pertaining to the factors that affect the academic performance of the Grade 10 students

in Mati National Comprehensive High School; the respondents were instructed to mark

check the column which corresponds their preferred answers.
