Significance of the Study

Promoting the tourism for Siquijor is very helpful to our economy. By highlighting its

beauty of culture, the people, and the places, it can be known in the world. The greater tourism,

the more jobs can be created. It can help many Filipinos for our country.

By mentioning of its breathtaking view, the people can help to maintain its cleanliness

and beauty, preserving the wonderful white-sand beaches not only for the tourist but for our

fellow Filipinos.

It can be known to the world, just like Boracay, Hundred Islands and many more tourist

spots in our country. Our country will be proud once more for the amazing islands we have, and

show the Esla Del Fuego of the Philippines.


I. Travel in Siquijor

Siquijor is an island of witchcraft, healing, spiritual rituals and beaches. Siquijor is

truly a one of a kind island. For centuries, the indigenous people on this tiny island off the

coast of Bohol have been living in the mountains where they drew and concoct special

potions to cure physical ailments, treat emotional scars and to dispel evil spirits.

To get to Siquijor:

From Manila

From Manila, take a 1-hour flight to Dumaguete City. Cebu Pacific and Philippine

Airlines have several flights daily from Manila to Dumaguete City.

From Dumaguete City Airport take a tricycle to Dumaguete Port. Standard fare is P100

per tricycle and travel time is around 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can just walk outside the

Airport and take a passenger jeepney to Dumaguete City. Then walk or take a tricycle to the

port. For short distances, the tricycle fare is 8 pesos per passenger.

At Dumaguete Port, take a boat or Ferry to Siquijor. Fare is around 130 to 230 pesos

depending on where in Siquijor you are going to.

Upon arrival in Siquijor, you may take a tricycle or a habal-habal (single motorcycle)

going to your resort. You may also contact a tour guide with tricycle that could fetch you

from the port to your resort.


V. Siquijor is Worth Going

Yes, it is worth going to a vacation in Siquijor, why? Because of its nature and people,

you will have fun staying there, other reasons are the activities you can do. Many interesting

spots you can go. Bringing your friends or family surely makes your experience unforgettable.

Siquijor consists not only of its view but the people whom you can be friends with.
VI. The Number of Tourists

With 48.8 percent increase in tourism arrivals, the promise or Siquijor is tagged as

the next emerging favorite tourist destination in Central Visayas.

According to the latest report released by the Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA),

the province of Siquijor recorded its highest tourist arrivals in 2019, with 48.8 percent

growth.
