ORIENTATION PROGRAM FOR NEW TEACHERS

Rationale
The quality of instruction depends on the quality of teachers. It is the set of teachers that ensures the smooth
articulation of curriculum and instruction mandated by the Department of Education and the RVM Education Ministry.
To ensure quality instruction and quality teachers, it is necessary that new teachers be prepared by the school before
the school year starts. According to National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education ( NCATE ), well – prepared
teachers produce higher student achievement and are more likely to remain in teaching. It is for these reasons that this
orientation for new teachers is conceptualized.

GOAL
The overall goal of this orientation program for new teachers is to reassure novice teachers to approach
problem-solving of ongoing classroom and professional challenges in the context of their strengths and the
requirements of Ignacian – Marian Education.

OBJECTIVES
Specifically, the new teachers will be able to:
1. be oriented of the school’s vision, mission, goals and objectives and culture
2. formulate their personal goals and objectives as they approach their first year of teaching in SMASA
3. identify their own classroom organization and management strategies
4. plan at least one lesson employing RVM pedagogy
