How May I Help You……

How to Serve

Keys To Being an Effective Servant

1. Positive Attitude
• a positive attitude is a “Can Do” attitude.
• A positive attitude starts with a natural desire to help people.
• A positive attitude is the key that unlocks the other keys to serving.

2. Keep your Promises

• if you say you are going to do something, do it
o “Well done is better than well said” – Benjamin Franklin
• Not keeping your promises deteriorates the trust between you and the
individual ,and maybe accredited inadvertently to sabotaging of the overall
goal
• Ex. Numbers 13 &14
o Verse17-20: Moses gives instruction to scope out the land; examine the people, their land,
& their vegetation.
o Verse 25-33: After scouting the land for 40 days it was time to report their observations.
The land was flowing with milk & honey. All was great in the land until they saw who
inhabited the land. The felt like grasshoppers next to them. Out of the twelve scouts eleven
of them became weary & fearful at the sight of their next obstacle.
o Chapt. 14, verse 1-12: now all of the people began to complain to Moses & Aaron. They
began to plot a rebellion against their leaders; they'd rather go back to bondage in Egypt
than believe God. Talks of stoning Caleb & Joshua began to rise in the community.
• Adopt a method of keeping track of your promises, and do regular checks
on the progress you made on delivering what you promised.

3. Listen to your Customer

• “In business you get what you want by giving other people what they
want.” - Alice MacDougall
Psalm 37:18 GNT
18The LORD takes care of those who obey him,
and the land will be theirs forever. 19 They will not suffer when times are bad;
they will have enough in time of famine.

• In this hierarchy, God is both the CEO and customer.

o Our leadership is God's managers
o We seek God for His will so we can co-labor with Him to bring it to
pass in the earth.
• So whenever you can, ask God and show a genuine interest in what He
has to say.
• This means you’ll have to ask subsequent questions to get to the core.
o Ex. God you said this building will be paid of by June, now what
can I do to make this come to pass.
• “Show that you have heard your managers by not making him or her
repeat it... “

4. Trust Your Customer

Proverbs 3:5-6 GNTD
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know.
6 Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.
• God knows exactly what He desires from and He knows what you are capable
of( because He made you).

5. Work as a Team
• None of us is as smart as all of us. - Ken Blanchard
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NLT
9Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If
one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone
is in real trouble.

6. Train
• train, don’t strain. -Arthur Lydiard
Joshua 1:8 NLT
8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you
will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and
succeed in all you do.
• Studying God's handbook & procedures makes it easier to execute any task
because you know how He operates.

7. Do it NOW!
• The longer you wait, the harder it is to produce outstanding customer service.
-William H. Davidow
• "Whatever has your time has your heart, and whatever has your heart has your
worship"
John 9:4 MSG
4We need to be energetically at work for the One who sent me here, working
