GLOSARY

ANIMALS: Kingdom to which multicellular organisms that feed on substances


made by other living beings belong (since they cannot produce them themselves
AIR: A gaseous, transparent, odorless and tasteless substance that envelops the
Earth and forms the atmosphere.
BIOMES: A bioma is the set of characteristic of an área that is defined from its
vegetation
BIODIVERSITY: Diversity of plant and animal species that live in a given space
CONSERVATION: Keeping something in good condition, keeping it in certain
condition, or doing what is necessary to make it so
COMUNITY: A community is a group of human beings who have certain elements
in common
CONTAMINATION: Environmental pollution or pollution is the introduction of
substances or other physical elements into a medium, which make it unsafe or
unsuitable for use
DEHYDRATION: Extraction of water containing a substance, an organism or an
organic tissue
ENVIROMENT POLICIES: the actions that the government takes to care for or
protect the environment
ECOSYSTEMS: Biological system made up of a community of living beings and
the natural environment in which they live
EXTINCTION: It is the disappearance of all members of a species or a group
EDUCATE: transmission of knowledge to a person so that he or she acquires a
certain training
FOMENT: Favor in some way that an action develops or increases a positive
aspect of it
FOREST: A forest is an ecosystem where the predominant vegetation is made up
of trees and bushes
FOODS: Nutritive substance that an organism or a living being takes to maintain its
vital functions
HEALTH: Series of physical conditions in which a living being is in a given
circumstance or moment.
HABITS: the habitat is the place where a community lives is specific
HYDRATIONS: The incorporation of water into a compound or organism occurs
HELP: Try to avoid a situation of tightness or risk that may affect you
HUMAN RIGHT: Instrumental conditions that allow the person to realize it
LIFE: Property or essential quality of animals and plants, by which they evolve,
adapt to the environment, develop and reproduce
MALNUTRITION: It occurs when the body does not get enough nutrients
NATURE: Set of things that exist in the world or that are produced or modified
without human intervention
NATURAL RESOURSE: Elements of nature that help or contribute to the well-
being and development of living beings
OCEANS: large body of water on planet Earth
PRESERVATION: Protection or care of someone or something to preserve their
status and prevent harm or danger.
PLANET: Solid celestial body that revolves around a star and does not emit its own
light
PROTECTION: Help to keep a person or thing in good condition
POVERTY: situation in which the basic physical and psychological needs of a
person cannot be met
QUALITY LIFE: concept that refers to various levels of societies and generalization
through society, community, to the physical and mental aspect
RECOVERY: Return of a person or thing to its normal state after going through a
negative situation
REIVENT ITSELF: When a person has to face a major change in their life or their
environment, negative or positive
RECICLE: process whose objective is to convert waste into new products or raw
material for later use
RAISE AWARENESS: Raise awareness or knowledge of something, especially
about social issues
SOCIAL SECTORS: Group of individuals share a common characteristic that links
them socially or economically
SANITATION: Set of works, techniques and devices aimed at establishing,
improving or maintaining the sanitary conditions of a building, a population
SENCITIZE: Make a person realize the importance or value of something, or pay
attention to what is said or asked
TRANSFOR: Make something change or be different, but without totally altering all
its essential characteristics
VALUES: They are the principles by which a person, a group or a society is
governed
WATER: Liquid substance without odor, color or taste that is found in nature in a
more or less pure state, forming rivers, lakes and seas, occupies three quarters of
the planet Earth and is part of living beings
