Trend(Dip and Strike) As revealed from the outcrops, boreholes and existing quarries
BHJ/BHQ is located in the SW and W part of the lease area. Iron
ore is located in the eastern part stretching from extreme north to
south. The trend of the litho-units also changes from N-S in the
southern part to E-W in the northern part. Dip varies from 250 to
350.

Local Surface There is no river of perennial stream in the lease area. The
Drainage Pattern regional drainage pattern of the area is dendritic in nature.

River/Streams Seasonal nalas become active in rainy season and discharges
water ultimately to kakarapaninala which is perennial and flowing
at a distance of about 1.5 km west of the M.L area. Water table
in the area is comparatively at a greater depth (10m below
ground level, 575 m RL) which will not be touched during plan
period.
09 Climate
Mean Annual Rainfall The maximum rainfall occurs during the month of June, July,
August and September. Maximum monthly rainfall of 677.5 mm
was observed during September 2011.
ANNUAL RAINFALL DATA (SUNDARGARH DISTRICT)
The average annual rainfall of Sundargarh Dist. has been computed by taking the data of last
10 years which comes to 1300mm, out of which 92% occur in monsoon months. The average
annual rainfall of this mine area is affected by steep hills, forest cover etc. The average rainfall
is 1300.00 mm.

Morphology of the area The area under reference forms a part of gentle to moderately
sloping hillock. The general gradient of the area is towards west.
The topography of the area is undulating in nature. The highest
and lowest R.L. of the area is observed to be 698m in the mid-
eastern boundary and 583m in the NW corner respectively.
