Apprecia ng the dedica on of teachers towards educa on system is always required and with this philosophy
'Tech Guru Award' was ini ated last year. This year also GTU gave awards to faculty members for recognizing
their contribu on on teacher's day.

Technical University, Awareness webinar on 'Na onal Educa on Policy 2020', 'Annual Alumni Web-Meet' and

Online Hackathon 2020 during 01.08.2020 to 03.08.2020

GTU hosted Smart India Hackathon 2020 consecu vely for 4th year. This me 56 teams from 14 states par cipated
for GTU Nodal Centre. 378 Par cipants joined online and solved the problem on Image Processing, Satellite
Tracking, Naviga on, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, Ar ficial Intelligence etc.

Inauguration of GTU Fitness Gym and

Fit India Freedom Run on 29.08.2020

Inauguration of GTU Fitness Gym was done on the birth anniversary of major Dhyanchand, nation's
greatest hockey player, on 29th August 2020 by Dr. Arjunsinh Rana, Vice-Chancellor, 'Swarnim Gujarat
Sports University' who was the chief guest of the inauguration function.

Second Tech - Guru Award Ceremony on 05.09.2020

GTU organized 2nd Tech – Guru award ceremony on the auspicious occasion of Teachers day which was
inaugurated by Dr B. Suresh, President Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) & Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, J.S.S.
Academy of Higher Educa on and Research as a Chief Guest, Shri Dinesh Dasa Chairman, Gujarat Public
Service Commission (GPSC) as a Guest of Honor along with Prof. (Dr.) Navin Sheth, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor
and Dr. K.N. Kher, Registrar, GTU. University had received 201 applica ons from all the disciplines & courses

NSS Award 2018-2019 on 24.09.2020

Mr. Ravi N Makwana (VGEC) and Ms. Hemankshi
Ishwar (LDCE), volunteers of Na onal Service Scheme
of GTU, have been awarded “Na onal Service
Scheme Award 2018-19” by the Honourable
President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind through
virtual mode which is a ma er of dignity for Gujarat
Technological University and the state of Gujarat.
Apart from this, three volunteers of NSS, GTU,
Vandana Patel (GEC-Patan), Mr. Ravi N Makwana
(VGEC) and Ms. Hemankshi Ishwar (LDCE) have been

Meeting with Delegates of Mozambique Embassy on 20.07.2020

Ms. Laura Guambe da Silva, First Secretary – Embassy of Mozambique visited GTU on 20th July 2020 for discussing
the prospects in the area of academic collabora ons with GTU. A mee ng was held with Dr. Navin Sheth, Dr. K.N.
Kher – Registrar – GTU and Dr. Keyur Darji Head – Department of Interna onal Rela ons. The major points of
discussion in the mee ng were status of the Mozambique students at GTU in the Covid -19 scenario and
possibility of admi ng more students on direct admission basis.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GTU and Na onal Assessment & Accredita on Council (NAAC),

Bangalore jointly organized webinar on 5 August 2020 on Assessment & Accredita on Process of affilia ng
colleges. The Chief Guest - Shri. G. T. Pandya, IAS, Director, Directorate of Technical Educa on, GoG
addressed the audience with his mo va ng words. Prof. (Dr.) Navin Sheth, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, GTU; Dr.
K. N. Kher- Registrar, GTU; Dr. S D Panchal, Professor and Director, GSET, GTU were present in the webinar.
The speakers from NAAC nicely explained Overview of Assessment & Accredita on process of NAAC,
Registra on and Ins tu onal Informa on for Quality Assessment, Prepara on and submission of Self Study
Report, Data Valida on and Verifica on process and Student Sa sfac on Survey, Logis cs, Peer Team Visit
and Assessment Outcome Documenta on. There was an overwhelming response from the par cipants and
more than 300 delegates were registered for the webinar.

National Thermal Engineer Day on 24.07.2020

DIC celebrated 'Na onal Thermal Engineer Day' by

organizing webinar on 'Advance Design on Turbo
Charger Turbine'. In this programme, Prof. (Dr.) Navin
Sheth, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor wished all the
par cipants and talked about importance of Thermal
Engineers. The invited expert speaker Dr. Samip Shah
talked about various methods of improving Design of
Turbo Charger Turbine with their Simula on data and
also presented prac cals done by him during his
research. Almost 5000 par cipants watched Thermal
Day Celebra on Video on Facebook page of GTU.

GTU organized 'Annual Alumni Web-Meet' on 24.07.2020 where

various experts and students joined virtually and shared their
experiences.

Virtual SSIP Screening on 29.07.2020

The main objec ve of the event was to make the pla orm for the new innovators. There were 12 start-ups
presented for screening. Dr. C.H. Vithlani, Dr. Ripal Ranpara, Mr. Vishal Sarvaiya, Mr. Jayson Ganatra and Mr. Parth
Sejpal were the jury of these screening. 6 projects were selected for SSIP screening.
