Poseidon's Strengths and Weaknesses
Poseidon was the god of oceans, seas, horses, rivers, winds, floods and drought and he
also possessed a powerful trident.

Powers and Strengths

🌊 Poseidon was able to cause wind storms, earthquakes and drown lands
🌊 Poseidon could strike the ground with his trident to create devastating earthquakes
🌊 Poseidon had influence over all kinds of horses
🌊 His Trident can make tsunamis, waves, and sea foam
🌊 Poseidon could also fire balls of energy from his trident
🌊 Atmokinesis, the ability to manipulate water in any way he desires

Weaknesses

🌊 His most prominent weakness was his limited influence


🌊 He had no power over the air or land, besides being able to cause earthquakes
🌊 He gets distracted very easily
🌊 He is very moody and doesn’t think before he does

Poseidon Story: The Legend of King Minos
Minos was a mighty king and a warrior, rumoured to be a son of
the Greek god Zeus and the mortal woman Europa. He had a wife,
Pasiphae, and three children.

- a white bull appeared in Minos’s kingdom.


- Poseidon demanded that the bull be
sacrificed to him
- Minos decided to keep it for himself and
sacrifice another animal in its place.
- Poseidon was very angry and decided to make
his wife Pasiphae fall in love with the bull
- Daedalus created a mechanical cow in which
she could hide and approach the bull.
- she gave birth to a creature with the head of
a bull and the body of a man, the Minotaur.
Poseidon and Medusa
Medusa was a priestess to the goddess
Athena, one requirement to be a priestess
for Athena is that the young woman must
be a virgin and give her life to the goddess.
One day, Poseidon, the god of the Sea and
rival to Athena, saw Medusa and decided to
humiliate Athena by raping the priestess on
the steps of Athena's temple. Medusa prayed
to Athena for guidance and forgiveness.
Athena looked down in anger and cursed
Medusa for betraying her.

Medusa was sent to a faraway island and was cursed so


that no man would want her. She was given chicken legs, giant
metal wings, cracked skin, madness, snake hair and stone eyes.
Medusa was now a monster woman. This act by Poseidon was fuel
to the fire of the immortal feud between Poseidon and Athena.

🌊 because of his influence on oceans, he was worshipped in connection
with navigation.
🌊 Poseidon was worshipped as a fertility god.
🌊 His name is Greek for “husband.”
🌊 Poseidon could strike the ground with his trident to produce an
earthquake. This gave him the nickname “Earth-shaker.”
🌊 Poseidon possessed a palace made of gems and coral. It was located
on the ocean floor.
🌊 Poseidon was moody by nature, his temperament was unstable, and his
emotions often resulted in violence.
🌊 His primary mean of transportation was a horse-drawn chariot.
🌊 He and Athena competed for possession of the city of Athens.
🌊 He has thousands of children.
