Areas I’d like to improve on:

2.6 Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Implement teaching strategies for using ICT to expand curriculum learning opportunities for
students.

During previous placements I have not had much opportunity to effectively implement ICT within the
classroom as majority of my time was spent outdoors in a PE setting. This placement however, I will
be teaching a theory unit within yr11 PE and YR10 PLP class which will allow me to hopefully develop
my skills and proficiency while using ICT to enhance learning.

3.1 Establish challenging learning goals

Set learning goals that provide achievable challenges for students of varying abilities and
characteristics.

As one of my classes this semester was centred around differentiation providing challenges for all
students regardless of skill level, preparedness or characteristics is something that I look forward to
implementing during my placement. I believe my knowledge and ability to implement this varied
content has significantly improved and this will be evident from my pedagogical strategies present.

3.5 Use effective classroom communication

Demonstrate a range of verbal and non-verbal communication strategies to support student

engagement.

As far as verbal communication strategies go I would like to improve my range of voice when
interacting with the class. I currently feel I am on top of the friendly approach to making students
comfortable and forming positive relationships, however I would like to improve my
ability/willingness to raise my voice when disciplining students behaviour.

4.1 Support student participation

Identify strategies to support inclusive student participation and engagement in classroom activities.

One of the biggest goals going into my final placement was to improve my ability to engage the less
motivated students. This was the main area I struggled with during my last practical where a group
of yr10 students who did not enjoy PE would constantly try to find excuses not to join or stay on
task. This placement I look forward to applying recent learnings from university and actively question
my mentors in order to improve this aspect of my teaching.
