Part I. Essay: 100 words

1. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of the different

branches of philosophies in Education? Cite at least two philosophies in

Education and give example situations.

Studying the different branches of philosophy of education improves your reasoning and critical

thinking skills. With its branches we examine questions of how we come to know what we

know “Knowledge”, considers the nature of reality, “What is real”, considers values and ethics,

and examines the processes of deriving valid conclusions from basic principles.

Advantages of studying philosophy in education is weighed as a remarkable study of the

purpose, process, nature and ideals of education. They learn that there is an extraordinary

intellectual and spiritual connection between themselves and people from different times and

places. They see firsthand a common and rich humanity. On the other hand, when we speak

about the disadvantages of studying philosophy, I believe that there is no disadvantage of

studying philosophy. For me, it is for the person on how to practice the art of constructing

thoughts about the existence of something and depth of imagination and creativeness. As

according to Aristotle educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.
Philosophy helps you to improve the quality of your life. It teaches critical thinking, close

reading, clear writing and logical analysis where we can use to describe language and other

things related to philosophy.

2. If you are to choose one philosopher, who would it be and explain why?

If I were to choose one philosopher, I would choose ARISTOTLE according to him “It is the mark

of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” Because he

provided a complex synthesis of the various philosophies existing prior to him. It was above all

from his teachings the west and also us inherited its intellectual, as well as problems and

methods of inquiry. As a result, his philosophy has exerted a unique influence on almost every

form of knowledge and it continues to be a subject of contemporary philosophical discussion.
