What is behavior?
We started the discussion with the definition of behavior. After collating everyone’s comments
we concluded that behavior is a set of actions or reactions by a person. To understand the
difference between action and reaction we questioned whether animals act or react. The answer
to this was that animals display instinctive behavior, they only react. Conversely, humans are
rational beings or evolved animals they can make a choice in their behavior which means they
decide whether they want to act or react. Being more action oriented should be a human’s goal.
But they often indulge in provoke other beings in order to get reactions from them.
I made a list of my behavioral pattern and tagged them as actions or reactions. On computation I
concluded that 40% of the times I display reactional behavior. So ideally, I would want to reduce
that to a mere 10%. The way forward for this would be to not be impulsive. To think for an
instance before getting speaking or doing something. One benefit of this is that its easier to
accept the consequences for our actions and one usually regrets one’s reactions.
